So CANDY CORN...yeah it's definitely NOT like a haribo gummy at all😆.. is more like a crystaly chalky sugary texture... almost like when honey crystallizes and becomes very light in color and is almost like a crumbly solid. It kind of dissolves as you chew it. Branches Candies sells it in clear bags. It’s very cheap. All the stores have large displays of it front and center. It’s a sure sign that Halloween is upon us.
I like sugar, I like honey, I like Halloween! I love little things that mark an event or holiday so easily. Like Baileys marks Christmas for most people (for me it marks Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but...you know 🤣)

The reason why it's such a big deal here is because it's one of the oldest and longest consecutively produced candies in America. They were first produced in the 1880's, and at the time about half the population were farmers by profession. So little novelty candies called "chicken feed" that look like little molded corn kernels were made and sold as a little penny candy to poor farm kids. They started being mass produced by the Goelitz company (now the Jelly Belly company) in the 1890's, and hasn't stopped making them since. It wasn't until the 1950's when Halloween became more and more associated with candy and candy sales that candy corn started being associated with the holiday.

Girl, "Dexter" is absolutely coming back! I've already seen 2 different previews! I! Am! So! Excited! I love Dexter! Also, candy corns are like a soft granular compacted sugar texture. They're in a catagory all their own. Sometimes, you can find them in other flavors like apple or chocolate but usually they just sugar flavored. 😊

Candy corn to me are a little soft when chewing them. The ones I get taste like a sweet honey flavor, they have them here in the U.S. in original honey flavor, a carmel with instead of a orange bottom it's a brownish color, and then you have these cute candy corn pumpkins and the 'harvest mix' is all 3 in one bag.
I just stumbled across your channel and you are just too awesome not to follow! I happen to know an insane amount of stuff about spiders, so figured I'd weigh in about webs in case anybody is interested...Every family of spider species has a different "signature" kind of web they use. Some spider species don't really make or use webbing at all except maybe to make a silken sack for their eggs. Orb weavers are the ones who do the classic spiderweb shape you were creating. The straight lines are called "radial lines" and act as the support structure like the beams in a house. The "U'" shaped ones are called trap lines or viscous lines because they are sticky and the part used to snare prey.

@@MissJosNailCo Actually, I've NEVER had a gel nail manicure so I have nothing to go by except RUclips videos which btw are pretty awesome!👍 I have very thick natural nails and went to the salon every week for about 15 years for a regular manicure but had to stop when I stopped working. I used to paint my own design from watching how the nail tech did it but can't remember exactly what it was now. I just remember dots and dragging a toothpick through it. I'll know it IF I ever see it again. About the chocolate... good chocolate can be found here. I'm not sure all of it is made here but we used to have a Godiva Chocolate store at the local mall and there's some made-from-scratch shops in a touristy area of the North Georgia Mountains where I live who make the best homemade chocolate candies and various types of fudge that'll melt in your mouth.😋 I guess it depends on where you go. I don't know exactly what you have there but I've stayed in England and Scotland several times and I must admit I do love the Cadbury eggs there. YUMMY! 😋 I look forward to them every year! ☺️
I feel ya with the nasal crap! A MONTH AGO! I got a head cold and STILL have the gunk in my nose! Cuz of course I now have allergies too. I've came to realize I'm just gonna be this way for some time. Lol..... I'm in the US, we do have candy corns, fall/Halloween candy. They are not gummies at all. Lol. They are like....... sugar, basically colored sugar, maybe some corn syrup I think. But they are kinda hard to touch and hold, but as you eat them they get soft, kinda desolve. They are weird. Lol but good if you like that kinda sweets. But your candy corns look great! You done an amazing job on all of them! I have a fall acrylic design on my nails right now, that I worked my ass off on, so I am not removing them. So for Halloween I've been wanting to do a gel design over my set then after Halloween maybe take off the gel and keep my pretty acrylic design lol. Anyway these inspired me! I'm not good with any kinda painting art stuff. Decent with acrylic, suck with gel and polish. And IM SURE you make these look way way easier than they are, but I think I can do some of this....... halloween is still on where I live, but I have a four year old son and I'm just not comfortable taking him out to house to house, person to person, germs to germs. Lol. So my son will dress up, take pics, stay home. And I'm not comfortable with a bunch of different kids coming to our house either. So I'm gonna sit out a bowl of candy and who ever to get what ever, throw out the bowl after........ ok, I've gave way more info than you or anyone would want. Lol. Thanks! I use a small detailer brush and just go from side to side. You can use an ombré brush side to side, but I just get on better with a small brush!
@@MissJosNailCo the ombre brush hasn't worked for me at all, it just made a dip in the polish in the middle where it brushed most of the gel away. Also use CND shellac and I think that doesn't blend so well. I just found your channel, thank you for the information and for all the laughs 😂
Thank you! 🥰 Unless I'm doing something where I need to use the wet colour to blend, then I will cure each colour. If it's not having anything on top of it, I'll just flash cure to hold it in place, but if I'm going over it with something, then a full cure. Hope that makes sense!
Candy Corn mixed with peanuts tastes like a PayDay™ candy bar. Also, corn gets harvested in the fall and the husks become decorations for people's front yards and porches along with halloween decorations. 🌽🍁👻🎃
Awesome video! Can someone tell me is there a difference in spider gel and painting gel like the gel you drew for the spiderweb in beginning?? I wanted to draw a spider and web, so I could only find spider gel but it doesn’t look like she’s using that stringy gel for the web in beginning??
Hiya, spider gel is completely different as it's suuuuper stringy and stretchy, so wouldn't be easy to paint with. The gel I use in this is Gel Perfection gel polish, which I use for painting with all the time, as they are really opaque. You can also get gel paints, which are highly pigmented and a little thicker than gel polish. So the spiderweb in this video is just painted with gel polish. @@genahebert4 If you search for gel paints, you should get results for those instead of gel polishes. They tend to be smaller little pots as opposed to polish type bottles. Yes I’ve seen a ghost, she was also see through and had eyes 🙂 frightened the life out of me at the time but I look back now and I think the ghost was more scared to see me at the time as she floated away in a hurry through the wall.
As a Brit who has tried candy corn, the closest equivalent I can think of are the sugary bits of the square layered Bertie Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts. Same texture and overall sugar flavour, although candy corn is sweeter. Gotta love a comment that’s 5 months late but only just found your lovely channel 🙃

I know I'm late to the game, but since Halloween is rolling around again I'm watching old episodes. Candy Corn is a bit like very firm, stale fondant or marzipan in texture, but with a hard, shiny, almost waxy coating. They're brilliant as ammunition when you throw them across the room and make your kids catch them with their mouths. Hours of entertainment and only a little bit painful. Especially if one chips a tooth. :) I promise I am a good parent. All five survived to adulthood.
🤣🤣🤣 Based on their description, I think throwing them away from myself is the only use I'd have for them, and if hitting a child in the face with one is the result, well that's a bonus 😂😂😂

Oh, and BTW, candy corn is nothing like gummies. It's basically pure sugar and will melt as you chew. I can't believe you guys don't have it. I used to love it as a kid but now I try to avoid too much sugar. You gotta find some and at least try it! 🎃😀

I think sweets in the UK are very different. Everyone I've known who has been to the U.S has said the chocolate over there isn't as nice 😆 Guess it's just what we're used to. Have a great Halloween!
@@MissJosNailCo Actually, I've NEVER had a gel nail manicure so I have nothing to go by except RUclips videos which btw are pretty awesome!👍 I have very thick natural nails and went to the salon every week for about 15 years for a regular manicure but had to stop when I stopped working. I used to paint my own design from watching how the nail tech did it but can't remember exactly what it was now. I just remember dots and dragging a toothpick through it. I'll know it IF I ever see it again.
About the chocolate... good chocolate can be found here. I'm not sure all of it is made here but we used to have a Godiva Chocolate store at the local mall and there's some made-from-scratch shops in a touristy area of the North Georgia Mountains where I live who make the best homemade chocolate candies and various types of fudge that'll melt in your mouth.😋 I guess it depends on where you go. I don't know exactly what you have there but I've stayed in England and Scotland several times and I must admit I do love the Cadbury eggs there. YUMMY! 😋 I look forward to them every year! ☺️

I feel ya with the nasal crap! A MONTH AGO! I got a head cold and STILL have the gunk in my nose! Cuz of course I now have allergies too. I've came to realize I'm just gonna be this way for some time. Lol..... I'm in the US, we do have candy corns, fall/Halloween candy. They are not gummies at all. Lol. They are like....... sugar, basically colored sugar, maybe some corn syrup I think. But they are kinda hard to touch and hold, but as you eat them they get soft, kinda desolve. They are weird. Lol but good if you like that kinda sweets. But your candy corns look great! You done an amazing job on all of them! I have a fall acrylic design on my nails right now, that I worked my ass off on, so I am not removing them. So for Halloween I've been wanting to do a gel design over my set then after Halloween maybe take off the gel and keep my pretty acrylic design lol. Anyway these inspired me! I'm not good with any kinda painting art stuff. Decent with acrylic, suck with gel and polish. And IM SURE you make these look way way easier than they are, but I think I can do some of this....... halloween is still on where I live, but I have a four year old son and I'm just not comfortable taking him out to house to house, person to person, germs to germs. Lol. So my son will dress up, take pics, stay home. And I'm not comfortable with a bunch of different kids coming to our house either. So I'm gonna sit out a bowl of candy and who ever to get what ever, throw out the bowl after........ ok, I've gave way more info than you or anyone would want. Lol. Really impressed with your ombré technique. Do you use ombré brush.? Or something else?
Thanks! I use a small detailer brush and just go from side to side. You can use an ombré brush side to side, but I just get on better with a small brush!
@@MissJosNailCo the ombre brush hasn't worked for me at all, it just made a dip in the polish in the middle where it brushed most of the gel away. Also use CND shellac and I think that doesn't blend so well.

Thank you! 🥰 Unless I'm doing something where I need to use the wet colour to blend, then I will cure each colour. If it's not having anything on top of it, I'll just flash cure to hold it in place, but if I'm going over it with something, then a full cure. Hope that makes sense!

Candy Corn mixed with peanuts tastes like a PayDay™ candy bar. Also, corn gets harvested in the fall and the husks become decorations for people's front yards and porches along with halloween decorations. 🌽🍁👻🎃

Awesome video! Can someone tell me is there a difference in spider gel and painting gel like the gel you drew for the spiderweb in beginning?? I wanted to draw a spider and web, so I could only find spider gel but it doesn’t look like she’s using that stringy gel for the web in beginning??
Hiya, spider gel is completely different as it's suuuuper stringy and stretchy, so wouldn't be easy to paint with. The gel I use in this is Gel Perfection gel polish, which I use for painting with all the time, as they are really opaque. You can also get gel paints, which are highly pigmented and a little thicker than gel polish. So the spiderweb in this video is just painted with gel polish. @@genahebert4 If you search for gel paints, you should get results for those instead of gel polishes. They tend to be smaller little pots as opposed to polish type bottles. As a Brit who has tried candy corn, the closest equivalent I can think of are the sugary bits of the square layered Bertie Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts. Same texture and overall sugar flavour, although candy corn is sweeter. Gotta love a comment that’s 5 months late but only just found your lovely channel 🙃

I know I'm late to the game, but since Halloween is rolling around again I'm watching old episodes.
Candy Corn is a bit like very firm, stale fondant or marzipan in texture, but with a hard, shiny, almost waxy coating. They're brilliant as ammunition when you throw them across the room and make your kids catch them with their mouths. Hours of entertainment and only a little bit painful. Especially if one chips a tooth. :) I promise I am a good parent. All five survived to adulthood.
🤣🤣🤣 Based on their description, I think throwing them away from myself is the only use I'd have for them, and if hitting a child in the face with one is the result, well that's a bonus 😂😂😂
