My harbor freight 12,000 pound has three wires ports on top and one ground wire port on the bottom. I could not get my winch to work but was due to an internal wire short in my long wire to my switch from the relay box. Never felt that was the problem until it felt like the relay stuck. Now it is fixed with a new spice of wire.
I think I'm having same problem that you did. I have black from module going to center spade, yellow and white to the outside spades. So you're saying I need to also add a chassis ground to center spade as well? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video. i'm a bit confused about the additional ground, you mean aside from what you are showing in the video, I need to connect another ground from that black wire, to the vehicles body (ground)? so 1 ground going to the contactor, another 1 going the vehicles body ground?
Thanks, that Negative post on solenoid had me very confused. I have the same exact remote kit. Do you know if there is a way I can hook it up to also be able to use the old-style corded control? just in case we lose the remotes, So essentially have the option to use both the cordless remote and the corded remote.
I would ditch the old control box with corded remote. If wireless fails you could wire in a backup switch to send power to the yellow or white wire to operate winch
Straight to the point. Helped me, happened to be the exact remote I bought
Thanks bro, managed to hook up my solenoid in 15min thanks to youre video.
Very much appreciated 👍
Watched 3 different videos. Yours got me the results. Thanks sir!
Glad it helped!
This will help lots thanks for the vid I just ordered this and the wiring to the winch was making it difficult to comprehend but I got it now.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, just saved me the frustration of working it out with no Instructions 👍
Thanks man! I needed this a year ago. Now I can dig it out and use.
Thanks for the great video. Its going to save me alot of time...
You are da Man!👍👍
Great Video! Those winches can be tricky
That ground symbol will get you mixed up!
Muchas gracias. Conecta y funciona a la perfección
Spot on man Nice thank you help me

Yes, splice in chassis ground to the small black wire on middle spade
@@slaterrockshop4564 awesome thank you!!
Worked perfect! I really appreciate you pointing this out in a video.

Yes, you need to splice a ground from the body, frame, or battery into that black wire
@@slaterrockshop4564 Thank you so much!
@@slaterrockshop4564 do you happen to know a wired remote switch for warn available in amazon now that is compatible for XD9000i?
@@atlasoverlandrecovery I do not, sorry

You could cut down the corded switch. If it has 3 wires, one should be power, one would hook to the yellow, the other to the white
How many lbs is ur winch capacity
@@victorekeh6752 9000 pounds
Where does the second ground go from the blade terminal on the solenoid
You can run it to the frame or the ground on your battery
Can you connect 2 winches to one remote
You probably could as long as it doesn't exceed the current rating of the relay
What do you mean by the current rating of relay
@itsyoboypayton6827 the relay is rated for 500 amps so as long as your winches don't pull more than 250 amps a piece it should work
Where does the antenna wire go
@@Klean_kuts it doesn't attach to anything. You can leave it hanging
Stupid questioj where that little ground grounded? to the case?
Yes, you could ground the small black wire to case, frame or battery
🤙
My middle wire on my relay was hot.
Followed this but all i get is solenoid clicking
Make sure you're battery is fully charged
@slaterrockshop4564 battery is strong and left truck running and still nothing guessing bad ground or positive
