Cannot internalize her passing yet. Lata ji was always part of our ethos/consciousness, as her career began more or less at the same time as Independent India. Even as children our earliest memories are sounds and not visuals and so these songs which were playing in our homes and which helped put us to sleep made us believe that Lata ji had been around since the beginning of time. It's hard to imagine a world without her going forward. My heart feels so heavy and I feel a part of me has died.
Best thing is. We, the new generation has recognised the beauty of the past...and abandoned the present garbage. And most importantly, RIP Lata Mangeshkar 🙏

Was watching Indian Idol to a girl performing this song. She sang well with sur but felt that she changed the mood of the song. Sounded like a sad song. So I came back to relive the actual song and to appreciate the fact how beautifully Lata ji expresses the emotions of a girl who has fallen for someone for the first time.
Since Madam Lata passed away, I haven't been able to process that she's not with us anymore, and with these songs I don't think I would ever accept that she no more, because her voice is eternal. Wish I was born in that era wish I saw her live. ❤

I saw this movie in M L I R C when I attended the army attachment camp as an NCC cadet in the year 1986...This was the first Hindi movie I saw. I didn't know to utter a single Hindi sentence at that time..but this song is still ringing in my ears..
