The tip to "avoid learning mistakes" is absolutely critical to acquiring any new physical skill. If you keep performing the same motion unsuccessfully, over and over, you start developing muscle memory for the failing movement pattern. If I'm trying to learn a new physical skill and I'm not having success after a handful of attempts, I take a break and do a few reps of something I know I can do successfully. I believe this halts the unhelpful muscle memory process, and gets me into an improved mental state of experiencing success. After a break, I'll be ready to try again.
Yes, crashing makes you advance! But, you should not crash that you go to hospital...then you loose your confidence...and won't try again. Therefore choose your conditions accordingly...I always recommend a bigger, slower kite with lighter wind...then a small kite in high winds (at least for hooked tricks besides kiteloops). Good luck!
Great video. Noticed you were riding slingshots rad boots in earlier videos and now ronix. Do ronix boots hold up in saltwater nowadays? My last pair fell apart after like half a season.
@@BenBeholzVlogs Cheers. I suppose you ride ronix one? How are they compared to the RAD's in terms of weight (dry/wet) and overall quality? Also a tech series about gear in general would be sick ;)
@@BenBeholzVlogs This is something what stop me from progression. For example I did one trick and after hard crashes you get like block in your head and do it wrong after because you think a lot about it (not just pushing it). So, I don't know how to free my mind than :D because you don't want to hit really hard again etc.
hey @@AndreySemjonov yes I know exactely what you're talking about. In general you can split most tricks in to seperate parts. Usually if you do that, you can learn the movements step by step without wiping out hardly... that works even with kiteloops...
Benjamin Beholz was kiting for 2 days in row :))) no power anymore :))) Yes I split tricks in several parts for sure. For example this is how I learn kiteloops. I started doing them 2-3m height maximum. So you land it on the water anyway, but you get same filings of kiteloops as doing it higher. I was doing one mistake (body position) so I crashed it from not big height. So you get musle memory etc.
Hey Ben.... couple of questions .... how do u keep the lens free of water droplets using the Gopro7?......also how are u uploading from your recordings in the camera...do u choose to take the sd card out instead of loading from camera...
So true! Sometimes crashing hard is a bit discouraging, but love of kite is aways stronger. Thank you very much👍 Maybe a video about tricks slow progression would be nice ( like transition jump , transition grab, transition one foot, transition board off....)
Thanks for this video! To the point - unfortunately I have crashed a couple of tricks heavily that I lost trust and stopped doing them in one direction, this has a mental block difficult to overcome...but you are right the action cam is a great help and trying a different strategy, but for me taking a private kite lesson with a experienced kite teacher/kiter from time to time really has huge impact in progress to overcome some repeated issues
Hey Kiting Holger , I know that feeling exactely. Sometimes it reall makes sense to split up movements in separate parts. The kiteloop for example is something people aways say you just have to go for it. I think that is wrong. I‘ve been solitting that movement into 3 parts an NEVER had a hughe crash until today. That is what I mean with train smart. Which trick did you got scared of ? cheers Ben
Benjamin Beholz The center of the issue is jumping to the left, therefore can’t build anything on this...anything that works without thinking in the right direction an issue to the left. I think I’m trying too hard to make it right, then all goes wrong (rotating, bad bar movements, a bomb, landing crosswind, or in another bad way. Initially both directions worked equally well. Now I’m planning to build the left direction again...from little hops without much pop and kite steering , to small jumps, and build up from there...any other tips are appreciated...:) will go to Dakhla next week and have some time to try...thanks!:)
Hey Kiting Holger yes, I‘ve had the exact same problem when I started jumping to both sides. What helped me was spatting the landing and RELAX during the jump. As you said, sometimes you do just TO MUCH. And aswell, it makes sense to do lots of small jumps first than start to do them bigger and bigger...
....lot of time crashing in kitesurf it's cost money because you break more often the kite....or at least you wear it much more in wakestyle than big Air or wave style...!.....
Brilliant video and 100% on point! This not only applies to learning tricks but also to progressing in life. Fail early, fail often and fail forward! #willsmithfailure

Schön mal auch die andere Seite zu sehen! Das tut gut vor allem meinem Kreuz ;)

Benjamin Beholz Thanks for your thoughts! Looking forward truing out next week:)🤙🏼
Great! Exacly what i needed to watch - thanks! :)

Awesome! I had a really good time watching this video, congrats
Hey Esqucime Não Sei Thank you 😊🙏
Wise words, no progression without crash'n.
Thank you :) Ture that !
Damn I love your videos, all of them!!! Couldn’t agree more: AND WHAT DO WE THINK OF DRY KITES??🤔
haha, so true... dry hairs and dry kites are never a good sign ;)
Nice man 👍
Thank you :)
Shouldn't I worry about breaking my kite?
hey Niel Agi you can worry for sure. But the one thing i‘ve learned is you always injure when you expect it least. So I‘ve learned to stop worring...
