Danny and Wanda, you are my favorite homesteading couple and I thank the Lord for you! I really enjoy porch time and the informative gardening videos you two do! Your combined knowledge just seems to ooze from every pore. 😅 We now live in SE Texas so have very similar weather, hot and humid. It is our goal to have a some meat and egg laying chickens, a milk goat, a greenhouse and raised beds. My husband and I just celebrated our 46th Anniversary two days ago and he finally retired the end of June. We moved to the country in late March but the internet was so slow he couldn't work "work from home" from here and had to go back to our house in the city. Its been back and forth from the country to the big city with tons of work to do at both places Because of this, we could only move on weekends. We didn't have a lot of help and can't afford professional movers. We just have too much stuff! We now have half the space and need to downsize some more. We already need a large storage shed here in the country! lol When we first arrived, I was so anxious to start growing something! My husband cleared a bit of land and planted 24 tomato plants, 2 squash and 6 bell pepper plants. I lost a lot of produce because of the 3 month unplanned delay and trips back & forth . 😢 We had a very hard time finding starter plants and bought was available. I've only gotten only 1 yellow squash & 2 bell peppers, 5 larger tomatoes and about 3/4 gallon of cherry tomatoes. Such a disappointment! We are an older couple and both close to 70 so I know it will be more difficult but we can do all things though Christ who strengthens us. We have a whole lot of learning and work ahead of us. We have some major health challenges. We both live with chronic pain from major back and knee problems, I also have some heart problems and can't overwork without pain and nitroglycerin. We realized the city is not a place to be with the direction the world is taking. It may take us a while but Lord willing , we will get er done. When we make our next garden we want to do it right and will definitely have the black weed barrier cloth. The root ball on some weeds are the size of small dinner plates! Since bending a lot causes more pain, hopefully we can build many raised beds soon. We're not rich so have to watch the cost big time. Now that he's officially retired, we should be able to complete the move and put our house on the market. Please add us to your prayer list, we really need it! Do you have a suggestion on a book that would have a chart or list on different types of plants, which fertilizer each type needs and how often to feed it? I suppose it should include how and when to plant them since I will need to do that first. lol There are so many books on the market and of course, everyone says theirs is the best. Any other helpful book suggestions would be appreciated too. We value and trust your opinion so thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. I do realize that some people don't need a book because they have experience from a lifetime of learning. That may be the case with you but unfortunately, that's not me. Thank you for being here and sharing with us. Much love and prayers for you!
Hi folks.....am praying we can get thru this year without a big storm. Maria absolutely devastated this island, but I am blessed with a fairly sheltered location so my little, wooden house held up well even tho the neighbors tree fell on it. So have been putting time and energy into re enforcing things already here. I could see the reenforced sturdiness of your framework. Good job! I think it a great act of faith that you put up the green houses, but then they will pay for themselves quickly..Blessings for you and your farm.
Wanda, can you tell me which peppers you stuff? And what do you stuff them with? Y'all are my favorite channel. My husband and I get along great like y'all do. Isn't it great to work together with someone you love?
Jalapeno, marconi, banana and peppernici I mix cream cheese with grated cheddar and add some cumin. There is a video somewhere on Deep South or Crazy Dazes.
They are so disgusting! There is an up north version that doesn't fly. When I lived in FL I encountered these out in the country and the flying freaked me out. 😂
If you see one German roach in the daytime, that means there are thousands. It is imperative that you take care of that situation immediately. Zero tolerance! Beautiful green house!😁. Try some DE. Lay some sticky traps on the ground for them to crawl on.
JudithB We put in two more cow panels bent and fitted into my4' box bed for the cucs today. Everything is growing well and my garden is shaded for part of the day, the east end in the morning and west in the afternoon. Love my Marconi peppers, Poblano and banana peppers too!!! I chop them up into eggs for breakfast or just slice them onto salads. The Rattlesnake beans are over 5' and growing well on a fence line, just waiting for them to start producing!! So far a great garden year!!!
My dad was in pest control. He says if ya got 1 German roach ya got half a million. Dust DE all around inside and out, then about a week later spray peppermint oil all around and that'll make them die/move on.
Love your video's! Your homestead is beautiful....such an inspiration for us smaller beginner gardener's here in NJ. I have learned a lot from your knowledge of homesteading, and life in general. Thanks for sharing!
You and Miss Wanda care an awful lot about the quality of your video to be out in the greenhouse in near 100° temperature with the fans turned off. We all enjoy your videos and the ideas and tips from each one. Thank you both and have a blessed day.
“You eat all the bugs you want, dear!” I talk to my frogs and lizards too. The conversation with the rats, rabbits and squirrels goes a little different. Lol!
Danny, I’m in Georgia and this is the third pineapple I’ve gotten of this plant. It seems to be bearing every 2 years and it was 2 years after I planted it before it bore any fruit. Good Luck with yours I’m sure it will do great!
(Please don’t take that as unsolicited advice like you guys seem to be getting on all these videos haha I just had some luck with soap getting rid of my flea beetles & whiteflies haha feel free to ignore me 😆)
Love the greenhouse! I have young praying mantis all around, my natural pest control. I had 5 eggsacks last year, gave 3 to my daughter (to battle the spotted lanterfly). We had greenhouse weather last week, the peppers sure love it!!! Now what do you use to fertilize them?
Hi new friend, from Germany! I really like your greenhouse. About the pests, I have gray hair too. But when I move my plants outside, then it is not that much anymore but we got slags and snails. I still learning. Enjoy your day, stay safe. Full watch and full support did not skip ad, happy to give you like👍🏻 ❤️855 and sub. Thank you for sharing! Stay connected.

That is one nice green house! You keep putting these vids out I'm gonna have to have one. We have a coach here call wood cockroach but they are not really a problem, they don't want to be inside. Your right the german cockroach which originated in south asia came over on a ship during the 1500s. Jumped ship in Florida, I think! Great vid / Jim
Good morning folks. Happy to start my day with a tour thru your green houde. Great idea using the sticky traps. ....guess that is like old fashioned fly paper. I I have thought of putting up a green house/screen house but after hurricane Maria hit us here in Puerto Rico I am dubious. Wonder how your tunnel will do in a storm. Would you strip the plastic off?
It may not weather a hurricane or tornado, but we knew that when we built them. No we won't take the plastic off unless it is a CAT 3 or higher hurricane. Danny Beefed up the end walls and side walls with all of the winds in mind. Only time will tell.
Have you all ever had any black rings on your pepper stems or streaks of black going up and down the stem??? I have had both this year and don't know what it is. Would you happen to know??? Love watching your videos. So informative. This is my first garden and it isn't going to good. But we aren't giving up just trying to figure out how to fix all the issues. Thanks for any input you can give me.
food for taught, do you think you could keep the green house closed so that no new pest could get in. and add something like a bee hive for pollination?
I will give you one piece of advice about that mint in your box - get it out or it will completely consume the entire planter. It happens to me a lot of things - put them in a 5 gallon bucket - or dedicate a box solely. Other than that, the place looks beautiful - I wish I had room for a greenhouse. Edited due 2 a grammatical error. And you can use Diatomaceous Earth around your Greenhouse - for roaches and ants.
@@DeepSouthHomestead Okay - just thought I would try to keep you from learning something I did the hard way. Everything looks real nice in there, have you ever considered a chrysanthemum spray for the whiteflies - we had those really bad out here in California for a couple years & that seemed to work. Flea beetles are repelled by catnip and basil. They are attracted by nasturtium and radishes. You can plant these as traps for the flea beetles
We have basil and the white flies LOVE it too.
Danny, your a garden wizard! Love walking through the garden with you! 🌻 🔥 🌻 🔥
Power vacs are cool. I hate bugs. Nice peppers for sure. Look tasty. Keep up the good work.
Had two volunteer sunflowers from and over wintered head left outside. Tallest is 8ft.
we use these sticky traps as well. but we also use beneficial bugs.
Fantastic pepper harvest!

Hi Tunnel is looking awesome. All those peppers are great.
That bush okra looks so cool already! Looks like a stumpy little Texas hill country okra plant!

We swear by the Yellow Sticky Traps, too. Everything is looking great ! What will you plant in the area you had your tomatoes in ?
This is going to become a cold weather greenhouse. So it will be a cool weather crop.

Whiteflies find basil, nasturtiums and marigolds unpleasant.
My basil is covered in whiteflies. Dosent work here.
Planted marigolds in between beets, still have plenty whiteflies.

Hey Danny, what is the black stuff you have lining your raised beds with?
Roofing felt
Everything looks so great! Doing it right! Question: how does your water filter compare to the berkey?
Alexapure only needs one filter. The Berkey needs two filter's to do the same job.

Ok
Thanks. Good to know. In the market for the water filter. I was advised to get the biggest I could afford because it’s slow.
Quick question. Does Mrs. Wanda have her own channel? I know she’s mentioned canning foods but I can’t find any videos of her canning.
Yes it's crazy dazes
What is the normal temperature in that greenhouse that makes the peppers happy?
Have you tried green lacewings or assassin bugs?
I bet those peppers are good stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon on the grill.
Danny have some sweet potatoes plants in a container and some nutrias eat most of the vines will they come back and be OK. Thanks
They will grow back but the potatoes may be small.
What kind of wood did you use for the beds?
