    I had one of these when I was 17 years old. My uncle sold it to me for 100 dollars. Loved that car and still miss it to this day.

    I had two 1962 Chrysler 300s, a coupe and a convertible. Neither was a letter car but they both had the 413 engine. What a great car except for those old drum brakes. Very scary driving down the Grapevine.

      62 Chrysler brakes are great if you replace all wheel cylinders, and hoses. And adjust them properly! Then you have the transmission brake, the best in the business of that time. 😊

    My dad had a '62 300H. What a grand and powerful machine that was. It still haunts my dreams.

    What a car! I am partial to the 62 model as I had a "working man's" version, the non-letter 300. It was still a snappy car with plenty of get up and go. Never had a single service issue!

      The glow from that spacey dash array, would light up the entire interior of such cars, when sitting at a light in the nighttime!...It was very impressive.

    Cars had to be Like this in USA, -and Made in USA again!
    I'm from germany and I'm looking for the great, amazing Automotive History of USA. Im studying this History and i've to say, the best cars ever made was produced at USA between 1950-1970s. And i think Cars Made in USA have to be like they was in the 60/70s again. Even the V8's, the Body on Frame design (+RWD!!!) have to be used again by GM and Ford for mid- & fullsize Sedans (+ even the amazing "4 Door Hardtop" Bodystyle without the B-pillars between the Doors.... This was the most beautiful and amazing design feauture + the long & elegant low roof stylings of the mid and fullsize cars....
    When you see Crash tests arround the late60s &70s with US Cars what was using Body on Frame design you even can see this generations was the most strong Cars, even at the passenger cell! Then they brought Out the first Airbags and shoulder seat belts with shock absorbing dampers behinde the bumpers and yes, this was the safest cars ever made!
    A unibody Design could also bei very strong, but at present cars, especially the small cars are deathly dangerous. Even also because they've a fatal Design fail: the most of the present cars are small but very high in their roof and body lines. What isn't the right way for a car. This will even be a bad dynamic in turns or in dangerous situations when you've to dodge out something in the road ahed.... The bad understeering problem at 99% of FWD cars does the rest for a unsafe vhehicle.
    Yes, really this Design what was used in the 60/70s was the best for cars in all. It's a shame when there is a Toyota Prius, or Honda,... Those 150 years old electric cars are the badest cars ever. The Lithium cells are the Most dangerous and environment destroying things ever used for Cars/vhehicles. That electric cars are a dangerous, bad shame of engineering and produce cars ever.
    And yes, the electric car is the badest Thing about environment protection, too. And the electric cars was there before cars with Otto Motor was born.
    Oil isn't a Problem. Not for environment, not about "Peak oil" or something else. The big lie about oil is a thing what the people must know! Because oil never had the problem about ending or else. Oil is A-biotic, and is never ending. It's a shame about paying highest prices for a A-biotic oil what never ends and what never made a problem about environment protection. The reality about oil is a very importand thing to know. You can find Videos at YT about the A-biotic oil and reality about oil, too. And i think everybody have to look those videos that we all will know about the reality about oil. I hope i could give you some Informations/ things what you could look :)

      Very good comment. Most people don’t understand or know about the environmental catastrophe that are electric cars. It is all about the money, not doing what is best. This kind of talk will most likely be censored as well as dissenting political debate that does not fit the narrative of the morally superior green speak! Just a matter of time and we will most likely labeled environmental terrorists for even having this conversation. God save the internal combustion engine.

    Is the fuel economy on this measured in Miles Per Gallon or Gallons Per Mile?

      They actually got decent mileage. The engine design was very thermally and volumetricly efficient.
      Also they ran without complaint on regular gas.

    Wow wish I had one of these today my Dad had the 62 New Yorker basically the same except not as much high performance but it did have the 413 with a single 4 barrel carb on it though and I remember that thing would still get up and go Lol 😂

      That setup provided 340hp--plenty of power to launch that large vehicle!..Also, it was quaintly amusing to hear the bragging about 0-60 times around 8.5 seconds...Nowadays, a cheap Honda Civic easily beats that number!..I do remember, that back in that time frame, very few cars could break the magic 10 second 0-60 time.

      I would imagine in the 8 to 10 mp gallon range in the city, 12 to 14 on the highway. Kind of like a Hummer

    With Virgil Exner’s Forward Look and the obsessed band of engineers who fathered the Hemi and thought nothing of stuffing twin four-barrels perched tippy-toed on crimson cross-ram manifolds under the hood of a family sedan . . . From the mid-50s to the early 60s, Chrysler ruled the first golden age of American muscle. And a few years later, the second. And then the third. Fuggedaboudit!

    Bob Rodgers, engineer who helped in pioneering the original Hemi, doesn't have a Hemi to promote here. Chrysler dumped it in 1958 (for the 1959 model year) in favor of the 413 Wedge engine. While the Wedge wasn't a bad engine, it wasn't the Hemi. And after 1965 the Lettercars were gone too. The 300-H used the 122 inch Dodge platform, and the non-letter 300 came out that watered down the 300's special place in the lineup.

      Joe Yeah, it's a shame the manufacturer diluted the 300 monicker in later years, removing its sports features. Many years later BMW have done the same with their M designation.

      The 413 made more power, equal torque, and weighed 125 pounds less. 1958 vs 1959, the '59 was faster.
