Dear friends, there are few things to remember during a police officer stop. You don’t get out of the car because you might get hurt, police officer knows that. Remember, you always drive on the right-hand side of the road and the driver gets out opening the door to the traffic. It is not because you will shoot the officer with a gun LOL! 😀😀 Police officer can handle that making you safe. When we see a police-car parked with lights flashing, we always respect that and slow down our car. You as a newcomer to Canada should do that too. Canadian police officers are there to serve the public not the Ministers, MPs, and their family members 🤣🤣! Please address the police with respect, address him/her as officer. Do not address him/her as - you constable, you sergeant as such. Keep your hand clear on the steering wheel if possible. If you want to record the incident with your cellphone, ask him/her first. That is our right, we can record the whole incident. If you reach to get your cellphone or reach to open the cubbyhole of the car, please inform the officer well in advance. Do not make sudden moves. If you make a sudden moves, the police officer, too be frightened of his life and pull his gun. Be calm always. They are here to help you not to attack you like in Sri Lanka. 🤔
