Definitely keep it. With all the enviro regs around the world Toyota might stop making them sooner than you think.
Doubt the funds can afford that, otherwise why would it be a consideration considering the sentiment towards the vehicle

I was towed from happy valley about 15 years ago. My 80 shit the bed, I was picked up from about 5 km north of happy valley, then when the flat top hit the soft stuff at rainbow, it bogged down and burnt out a clutch. The 80 on a flatop bogged at rainbow with a flogged clutch was then recovered by a big truck. The 80 was then delivered to my local mechanic in Brisbane. RACQ paid the whole bill. SO I guess what I am saying is its probably my fault they wont tow you from fraser anymore.
You can pre pay $150 to Fraser Island towing before you get on the island as like an insurance policy, and if you need a tow, it'll only cost the $150, not the $1850. But if you don't need a tow, you forfeit the $150.

They never break down, but of course you will need to change out the front and rear axle assemblies, soon there will be nothing Toyota left on them.

Its a good rig. Built how you want it. Save the drama of buying a new car and mods. Keep the 79. Just make sure there's nothing left in the fridge when you go to the states 😅😂
When the currents flying you need to make custom sinkers out of rio bar with a u shape welded on top to tie to the line use 20mm rio bar .lived on Fraser for 8 years

Keep the 79 and give it to the girls while your in the states and when you get back, build it into a mega 6x6 and that can be the next addition so you should say something for that truck and you can run it for a few more years like that and then go from there

Serious question. What do you think could have been done to protect the diff(s) from failing and what map were you using when they failed. Or put another way how power do you think you can add before you have to upgrade the diffs and shafts ? Looked a top weekend despite the public humiliation 😢

Lofty had a good debut. Bummer about the 79. If you're gonna sell her then she needs a better send off than being broken down on Fraser! That rig is as much of the identity of the Explore life as you are Matty. She deserves better. Just sayin.
