(yeah imma nerd and I've memorized it all but I'm just too lazy to type the rest)
Josh Jelks At first I was just playing the role of Joker and just blew them all away but as they surrounded me, I think both me and the Joker were starting to freak out.
While the Arkham Knight reveal was obvious, I do have to say it makes complete sense and fits thematically in the game. If you're going to essentially put Batman on trial by shining a light on his failures, questioning his legacy and symbol then it's a no brainer to have Jason Todd, his biggest failure, play a part in the story.
I think for some fans, guessing the arkham knight was jason Todd from the beginning wasn't the goal of that. But the goal was to show that even batman can fail. Batman failed to save a young tortured man from that evil psychopath.
ibravosp5 if the joker wasn't dead it would have been better because the biggest thing about jason todds death is that batman still won't kill the joker or even let jason kill him and jason says that by letting him live he is the one killing the thousands of people by letting him live
Renwick Davis Agreed. While I was not surprised by the reveal at all, it made sense and I liked it. There were quite frankly very few options for the Knight that would have made any sense. Still, I kind of wish they could have made it a smidge less obvious. Oh well. As to Robo Batman 's point, agreed as well. However for people who know very little about Batman history (just from the Arkham games, or Dark Knight movies let's say), I don't really see a better option. The only major villains we didn't see are Killer Croc and Ra's Al Ghul. Obviously Croc is too big, and Ra's always had a much more composed demeanor than the Knight (although they did hint at him being driven insane by the lazarus pit in Arkham City). I feel like they gave enough back story on Jason throughout the story to make it alright even for those less aware of the Batman lore. To each their own though of course.
The Arkham games are basically the video game version of the Nolan batman trilogy. Arkham Asylum and Batman Begins: Surprisingly good and has potential to be something great. The Dark Knight and Arkham City: Near perfection. Great on all aspects, very little and few flaws, sets the bar for what a comic book video game/movie should be. The Dark Knight Rises and Arkham Knight: Great ending to the trilogy and a great game/movie nonetheless but it couldn't get out of the shadow of its predecessor.
The Fresh Prince of Philly I feel like you're underrating Arkham Asylum and Batman Begins just a little bit. Both are great not close to it, they are it. The rest is accurate
I think its funny how when people bring up these games they intentionally leave out Origins. I mean I get it, in my opinion it didn't measure up to the rest of the series, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't interesting things in it.
The could have ruined the Joker's role by putting Mark Hamill in the opening credits, or announcing him during production. I really liked that they didn't do that.
Rocksteady on the Arkham Knight - "he is a completely original character that we have designed at Rocksteady in collaboration with DC Comics." Oh. You mean he's a character that already existed in the DC Universe that you just put a new costume on and basically copied his other iteration, The Red Hood, but instead of gangsters you gave him a private military. So original guys.
Lion_Turtle Not to mentioned after you unmask the arkham knight and Jason Todd comes back to rescue batman in the finale, the bio section unlocks The Red Hood bio and character model. Which is basically the nail in the coffin that the quote you put above was just a total blatant lie/misdirection. Kind of disappointing because throughout the game I was thinking that he was going to be and original character, only to find out my first assumptions about him (from the first trailer over a year ago) was right, he's Jason Todd. Overall though I loved the game, The Arkham Knight was by far the weakest part of it for me though.
Taylor Sharrock I actually liked the surprise of Red Hood turning up to save Batman. Totally thought it was going to be Nightwing tracking that van. Or better yet, Alfred in the batwing. Come on, that would have been awesome.
They still did Deathstroke justice in Batman: Arkham Origins than in Batman: Arkham Knight because you fight him with your Batmobile in Batman: Arkham Knight, in Arkham Origins you fight him hand to hand in Arkham Knight you fight him with a BAT TANK. Damn it I still want to play Batman: Arkham Knight!
i guess they didn't wanna retread origins ? i kinda of understand and i think i would have been cool with it had i actually played origins but i didn't so yaa kinda dissapointing
Devecz László So true. So sad. But at least it's the most satisfying Riddler payoff from all the games. AA's was "bleh", AC's was almost decent (because you at least met him in person) and AK's was just sweet.
***** Agreed, but I still pushed through them in all 3 games (I didn't bother with Origins). I thought they were neat in Asylum. City was starting to lose its appeal since there were just too many. Then Knight burnt me out. It becomes tedious without a quick travel option.
That's how Bruce Timm felt about the Riddler when he worked on the original Batman the Animated Series, ironically the Batman show in 2004 focused heavily on the Riddler because it couldn't use Two Face and other villains.
As soon as the Arkham Knight started speaking, I immediately knew it was Jason. He calls Bruce "Old Man", he knows all of batman's techniques, he holds a grudge against him and he's even sounded like Jensen Ackles- the guy who played Jason/Red Hood in Batman: Under the Red Hood. Honestly I wish they'd just based the story for this game directly on that comic instead of playing keep-away with the reveal for like 10 hours of game.
***** Jason wasn't voiced by Jensen Ackles in Arkham Knight. He was voiced by Troy Baker who voiced the younger Joker in Origins, Origins Blackgate and Assault on Arkham as well as Robin in Arkham City and Two Face in both City and Knight.
Xehanort10 my mistake. It's a very similar vocal performance, and earlier in the year, there was some buzz that the Arkham Knight was being played by Jensen. I've corrected what I said now, but I still stand by my point that it was super obvious who he was meant to be.
***** Yeah, it was totally obvious. If he'd taken the mask off and turned out to be Damian Wayne, that would have actually been an awesome surprise. Could've had Red Hood in as a Most Wanted side mission.
***** The way troy baker performed and portrayed Jason made him feel like a young kid- like a reckless teenager, which was to me a clear giveaway that it was Jason todd under the mask. No one has that kind of history with bats and sounds like that
The biggest fricken letdown was that poor excuse of a side mission with Hush. All that buildup from AC and he is just in there for 5 minutes where bruce counters his ass and that's it. Then once they introduced the Arkham Knight and he said his first line i knew it was Jason because only Jason calls Bruce oldman. Deathstroke who is one of the best DC universes best assassins and hand to hand combat experts gets reduced to a tank battle. Seriously.
Dominik Santiago For a guy who mimics Bruce Wayne right down to stitching similar facial features on his face Hush sure couldn't recognize Batman's mouth/chin area.
Dominik Santiago It's a big game, so I was fine with there being only one confrontation with Hush. Look at it as, the mission discovering him was Arkham City, and the climax to that is in this game. I didn't need a major side mission with him in this game. HOWEVER. I would have at least liked to have had a real fight with Hush. Not a one button press takedown -_-
"Your parents are dead and I can't stop laughing!" God Arkham Knight was one hell of a fun ride. Hopefully Rocksteady moves on to Superman, given how LEX FUCKING LUTHOR LEAVES A MESSAGE AT WAYNE TOWER, CONFIRMING THAT HE AND SUPERMAN EXIST IN THE ARKHAM UNIVERSE FUCK YEAHHHHHH!
Rocksteady superman game wouldn't make sense. You'd constantly have to be fighting bosses like lex and doomsday. Superman can't fight random goons because one punch they'd just fly through walls. It would just be a boring game. Superman is an outdated crappy superhero so there's that too.
leo50perez yes !!!, jensen ackles rough and angst voice fits perfectly for Jason. I don't mind Troy Baker voicing Jason though , but it lacks the emotional that jensen Ackles bought when voicing Jason in UTRH movie
Humam Eastrawan So Troy played Two-face, Robin in AC, Joker in AO and now Jason Todd in AK. Didn't they think that's a bit of an overkill? Let other people act! There's hundreds of talented actors out there.
ThePreciseClimber Probably cost saving. If Rocksteady hire new VA for Jason they probably gonna cost more budget. That's why they used same VA for various character for cost saving.
ThePreciseClimber That's how it is with VA's, they can do multiple characters. Hell the G1 transformers show had actors portraying several characters each for example.
Rocksteady- "The Arkham Knight is a completely original character and was created only for this game. Also, Mark Hamill will not be returning as Joker." Fans- "Yeah... Rocksteady was bullshitting us."
***** jeremy my man i would love to meet you in person problem is i live in sweden :( would love to talk movies with you. You have my love and respect :)
+Cosmas Dexie Well, of course, they ruined it for this universe. But since its gonna get more audience than the comic-book, it seems like a big deal to me. They took a good story and they simplified it too much, stripping half the personality of Jason, making him work for Scarecrow and making him sound like a little bitch. I think its a waste of the character and his story arc.
+Dylan Bean Adapt is when you take a story, make some changes and maybe add something. Here, they took it and added it to their simple basic plot where Scarcrow wants to control/destroy the city (how original). But its always about something else. The emotion between Jason and Bruce is'nt there and his role is closed too briefly. That's ripping-off a story without respect in my book.
+BatPierrot There not ripping off that story. You can't rip off your own characters story. Both under the red hood and arkham knight are about batman. Thats like saying cap 3 ripped off the civil war comic book. it just put it into a movie. All arkham knight did was put URH into a game
Tevya Smolka Because it plays off of the death of Talia from Arkham City gives a reason the arkham knight looks like batman and a way he could have gotten this large empire of soldiers
I really didn't like the Arkham Knight and Jason Todd in this. I always assumed that things like Under The Red Hood were canon in the Akham series, but I guess not. They also completely change his motivations and personalities. I don't remember him ever wanting to kill Batman. I know for a fact that he wouldn't do anything to hurt someone like Barbara. I just didn't really like the take Rocksteady made on it.
Simon Von Bill If you look at the Arkham Knight tapes, you can hear a recording of the Arkham Knight telling Scarecrow to leave Barbara alone. He didn't want to hurt her, just use her as bait.
Lol actually he has no urge to kill him. He however has zero qualms with it. Especially when it comes to crime. His personal journy is a strange one. The origin is different which explains why he is the way he is. I honestly dont understand red hood fans. Jason is a whiny manchild doing the same shit that got him killed, not listening to batman. At this point if anyone claims otherwise id simply blame certain writers desperate to make an edgy character cool
He had plenty of chances to kill Batman, but he didn't. He just wants someone to pay for what Joker did to him. And if that has to be Batman, he doesn't give a rat's ass.
Matthew Williams debatable since the killing joke is a story about the joker having no defined story :/ Saying its canon is not an arguement. From what i can tell, versions of olderstories happened but the details are up for interpretation(death in the family isnt exactly the story seen in the game)
+LightningBlade311 no because the Arkham Knight was supposed to be a death blow to Batman, and his psyche. The game was the total deconstruction of his mind. It makes perfect sense for it to be his biggest failure, which was Jason Todd
too bad neither were in the previous games so it means very little to the game universe. its almost as if the arkham knight was an inherently bad idea for this series and they shouldve just stuck to scarecrow and someone else.
I don't mind that there was no final fight with the scarecrow really because I think that would have brought down the scene. Mentally fighting joker and fighting fear was all psychological so it just makes more sense that it wouldn't be a boss battle. I remember the first time that last scene played where batman was in the truck being brought back to the asylum. There was something so final and dramatic about that scene that it had my hair standing on end. That's probably why I don't mind that there wasn't a fight there really because it was played so well and had an amazing atmosphere. Deathstrokes fight was disappointing though, I won't argue that. I honestly thought there was going to be a second half to that fight after you took out his tank and you would have to fight him on the ground, but no. Just... blow up his tank...
The Batmobile tank stuff looks terrible from the outset but I recently played it at a friend's house my god it's fun. REALLY fun. And those Cobras are harder than they look.
I'd give Batman Arkham Knight a solid 8/10 Things I liked: -Combat -Gliding -Joker and other big characters such as Nightwing and Harley Quin and the interaction they have with batman, this was my main reason for carrying on with the story. -RIDING around in the bat mobile -Overall FUN Things I didn't like: -Boss battles were terrible! Scarecrows, Arkham Knights, Penguins, Two Face's, Slade's, and just about everyone else's final battles were just!!!...yeah:( -Ending was lacklustre and un-fulfilling, leaving us with questions such as what happens with Jason Todd and other characters after Bruce "dies"? (he's not dead) -TOOOOO many tank battles (soo forced and a cop out) -Story was mediocre, I mean in a game where the main point of it was 'who is the Arkham Knight?' they painfully blatantly told us his identity before unmasking him. -FORCED us to finish off side missions before getting a real ending. Started Batman Arkham Knight feeling as my GOTY, ended up being kind of a let down although still enjoyable and I'd recommend to most people. So now let' see if anything can dethrone The Witcher 3 as my GOTY so far, Tomb Raider...I'm looking at you.
Yeah I I was pissed that they kept making u use the tank mode to fight arkham knight and deathstroke alot in this game the one think arkham origins did right was the fight against deathstroke and I was kind was disappointed that it was Jason Todd because rocksteady kept saying its a new character which arkham knight was but it was Jason Todd then when u fight I was hopeing to fight him hand to hand but they make u sneak around but don't get me wrong I love the game but those two things I didn't like in the game I gave it a 9/10 I liked batman arkham city more than its between the first batman game and this one and then batman arkham origins -Martin
I thought it was Damian Wayne also. It would have been a great surprise and would actually be a more original villain then just the Red Hood in a different costume.
You're the man, Jeremy. I pretty much totally agree with you on everything. Especially the Deathstroke fight. Still a really sweet game though. The Joker in Batman's mind thing at the end is one of my favorite segments I've ever experienced in a video game.
Jason Todd was also Red Hood in Atkham, but he caught Scarecrows attention after killing Black Mask. You had to.play the (Gamestop exclusive!?) Story pack to obtain this info. Had this been part of the game the reveal would have been more satisfying.
11th place. And also I loved this game. Some of the batmobile parts are too long. The batsuit was awesome. I'm looking forward to a new game. If they make one.
Daredevil, GREEN Arrow, Flash, cyborg. Superman Must be hard pherhaps in like 10 years they could try making one. You know pherhaps they could get a litle better idea of superman after Justice league. But i would like a cyborg game or daredevil, or spiderman if they could get the rights, the way batman do fights fit so well to spiderman. And it would be great if they do it right.
Also, loved how there were so many jump scares that were perfectly timed/spread out. Like I would totally forget about the fact that they added jump scare moments and right as my guard went down, boom surprise haha
I actually think she's sexier in AK than AC. She's one of the reasons I enjoyed the Riddler side mission. After that I was finally able to ship Bat-Cat :)
I didn't play the game but still watched this without any hesitation.Because if you don't keep up with everything that's coming out you either start living patrick style or get shit ruined for you.
I never thought of it being Damian Wayne, but that would have made total sense from the beginning of the game. I kind of knew it was Jason Todd, but I kind of wish they would have thrown us some curve balls to challenge our suspicions. I was very disappointed about the death stroke battle. I got so hyped and did all the side quests to fight him... And it kind of sucked. He just gets punched in the face by Batman. Btw great job with this whole channel! You're by far one of my favorite youtubers! Keep it up man!
I wasted a whole day wanting to fight deathstroke in hand to hand combat by getting rid of the militia, taking out their vehicles, their outposts, mines and towers and after all that in one day i just get a fucking tank battle and no hand to hand combat! What a fucking waste! Arkham Origins is not as good as this game but it definitely has better boss battles like when you actually do hand to hand combat with Deathstroke and that's why I play AO more than this!!!! 😡🔫
I was kinda hoping Batman would pass the vigilante torch to Nightwing officially towards the end of the game...They make it seem like since Batman is gone(?) that nobody else can enforce the streets...hell have Nightwing become Batman & give hime the recognition he deserves.
I felt like the Arkham Knight was a much better character when you didn't know who he was. As soon as I realized he was Jason Todd he became a lot less interesting.
Yeah, there were some letdowns but so many great things. The Riddler trials was a great idea, the Ivy story line was well thought, that touch on the Manbat, like you said, the investigation on the bodies, etc... I don't if the side missions were awesome because the main story was simple or the main story was simple because they wanted to cover so much with the side missions. What I'm the most pleased about is the diversity, hand fighting, thank fighting, puzzles, sleuthing. Even the details were very nice, like when you see an ad and Joker is on there, turn the view and focus back on it and you see that the Bat is really losing it. All three Robins, mostly all villains...the best, I'm not sure, but it covered more ground than Asylum, City and Origins combined, all that very nicely.
Wait, if Jason Todd is the Arkham Knight, then what was all that "He's a 100 percent original villain" bullshit that the company never stopped telling everyone?
A load of horse crap. Kinda like how they told us the batmobile was "just another gadget" and "the freedom of 'being the batman'" was their whole purpose in this game. This whole game was Rocksteady jerking off to the car
Thacrazytaco only thing is that is not what they had been saying. they were saying an original character never seen in comics one quote in remember was "he was created just for our game" or something along those lines
Well yeah, technically the "Arkham Knight" was never in the comic books, but I thought of red hood straight off the bat the second I read up on the new character. Saying he's never been in the comics is just bullshit then so that we "wouldn't be able" to easily guess his identity. But they basically just created a new skin for Jason's Red Hood and called him original. haha
That whole Joker trip at the end was one of the greatest things I've ever played in a superhero game. Also, there was this great suggestion for a huge multi-part boss battle with predator transitioning to batmobile transitioning to hand-to-hand with the Arkham Knight on reddit, and as fun as it sounded reading it, I think the fight with him in-person in-game is a point where Rocksteady made gameplay service and add to the story, because in this fight, Batman doesn't want to actually hurt Jason. He wants to help him and get him back. He only hits Jason once, and when he's got Jason in a prime pummeling position (almost exactly what happened in the cloudburst tank battle, except then he didn't know who he was fighting), he backs off. We don't have a knockdown drag-out with Jason because Batman, as a character, doesn't want to have to hurt him. Though, I do have to say, Jeremy's idea would also have worked pretty well, because it gets around that fact that Batman doesn't want to have to fight Jason, and if he still doesn't know the Knight is Jason, he CAN have a knockdown drag-out hand-to-hand fight with him. To be honest, I wasn't that pissed about the Deathstroke fight. I never played Origins, so I never got that first freeflow Deathstroke boss battle, but I personally found it kinda hiralious. Deathstroke jumps out of his tank, sword out, ready for the fight to end all fights- then Batman jumps him from behind and knocks him out with one punch. I get why people would be pissed at that, but I just found it a hilarious subverting of expectations.
Yeah the death stroke fight was my only issue & I was worried you'd spoil the full ending where all everything has been done, but I'd you haven't got all the riddler trophies either so Im glad I still have to look forward to.
When I saw the flashbacks inside the movie studios of Jason Todd, I just thought that it was because we we're currently working with our new Robin and seeing all those things led Batman to locking Robin in the cell because he didn't want to lose another friend. I guess I just got lucky that I didn't figure it out. Although the thought entered my head just before I entered the room where it is revealed. I think it was a pretty good choice to have it be Jason Todd, maybe it wasn't a big OMG moment but it was more of a relief, when you didn't need to think about it anymore. I also loved the fact that Joker had a huge role in this and it was executed so perfectly. Felt great hearing Mark Hamill again! My biggest gripes however are the following: 1. Needed one final scene with Bruce Wayne talking to Jason Todd. ( Doesn't make sense that he has such a small role in the end.) 2. Needed a one-on-one fight with Arkham Knight. (The way Jeremy suggested was great.) 3. A one-on-one fight with Deathstroke. ( I wouldn't have minded if they would basically copy the fight that they have in Origins, with new moves.) I still thoroughly love the game though!
***** It definitely wasn't that hard. Maybe if you were on PC and using a key board I can understand it being hard to control but otherwise it feels like driving in any other game.
MrDan Man Yeah it wasn't that hard I beat the section a few days ago but batmobile still pissed me off. The Cloudburst Tank level was actually hard. Required a bit of luck when you're trying to stealth 7 cobra tanks.
I agree completely with you Jeremy. My only short comings for the game were how much the Batmobile was used, the lack of hand to hand boss fights and the reveal of the identity of the Arkham Knight. I remember getting rather annoyed that it was taking so long for Batman and the others to realize who it was. In regards to boss fights, they have excellent hand to hand fighters like Deathstroke and the Arkham Knight in the game, I was expecting some epic hand to hand boss fights. What did we get in stead, we got to face them with tanks, while the only hand to hand boss fights we have are against Riddler and Professor Pyg. There's something very wrong with that idea.
It's interesting to me that when it comes to videogames we all are willing to forget some serious errors so long as the gameplay is awesome. For instance, AK's story is downright idiotic. There is so much stupidity in it, it's astonishing. Yet, no one talks about it. No one is bothered by it. It just doesn't matter. We get kickass action and we're happy with it. I suspect, this is the main reason why games are not considered high art, just like comic books.
I TOTALLY thought the same thing with Damian! The same points and everything! From the first half of the game, I thought it would be sick if it were Damian, but yeah, Last half, I knew it was Jason. I'm SO GLAD they got Troy Baker to play him! He's one of my FAVORITE voice actors right now and he was really good.
Probably one of the first times I watch a video of yours after playing/watching what you're talking about and you literally hit everything I was thinking while I played. Only thing that was different was I never thought it'd be Damian. Always thought it'd be Jason, hoped it wouldn't be because of how obvious it was to me but, I still enjoyed it. Now I gotta replay Origins to get a good Deathstroke fight. Did you get a chance to play the dlc? (Harley & Red Hood) Pretty fun but, waaay too short.
Admittedly when they showed the first few minutes of the Ace Chemicals gameplay at the beginning of the game on RUclips and I heard the AK call batman old man for the first time, the first name that popped into my head was Jason Todd. I even turned to my friend and was like 'I'm calling it now, Jason Todd is the Arkham Knight.' Wasn't even surprised when the reveal came into play. Still a great game though.
I agree with you on Deathstroke. Rocksteady had the chance to do so much with him after that tank battle. Deathstroke could've called in reinforcements and he could've thrown Batman off the tank! Thugs and militia could've attacked you with Deathstroke as the guy trying to help them kill Batman. That would've made you feel like.......... THE BATMAN!
I feel like you don’t spend enough time using your gadgets to work your way through interior settings like you did in Asylum and City. You don’t use freeze grenades, electrical gun, zip line thing in much of the game at all beyond the expansion pack missions with Fries and Croc
2 of my favorite parts was Panessa Studios with Henry and the Scarecrow roof scene...dear god that is some narrative genius. I really didn't want it to be Jason, so much that I was convinced at one point it was Tim. Lol I shouldn't have doubted you Tim, sorry.
i love Nightwing and Red Hood and Deathstroke is my favorite comic book villain, and they were so underutilized in this game. especially Nightwing, not only he was reduced to a mere side note in this game, but him and Barbara are one of the most iconic superhero couples, and they paired her up with Tim Drake in this game because reasons. And apparently I'm the only one who cares about that. The Deathstroke boss fight in Origins was my favorite in the series and in this game he fights in a tank. Say what you want about Origins but it had some sweet boss fights.
Started replaying all the arkham ganes (except origins) tryna guess which is the best. Arkham Asylum is fun if a little short, but that's to be expected I guess. Playing Arkham City is fun, hard to go back to after the movement systems of knight. City just feels a bit slower. But I think storyline wise, I liked arkham knight the best.
The part where Batman grabs Joker and says the line "I AM VENGEANCE, I AM THE NIGHT, I AM BATMAN!", that was when it sold me as being my favorite game of all time. Holy shit I loved it so much. Yeah those nitpicks about Jason Todd and Deathstroke did fall short but outside of those two things that don't ruin the game it was phenomenal. And yes Joker was the shit with my favorite moment where he's singing in Batman's mind while Robin defuses the bombs. Last but not least I loved how you thought Damian Wayne was the Arkham Knight. That actually would have been a much more solid twist. Hell even if people thought Jason was the Arkham Knight when they watched those dreams sequences that would have been a far better twist. But maybe him or the Al Gul family will appear through story dlc. As long as it isn't as short as the Harley Quinn and Red Hood stuff we've had so far.
I was playing Arkham Knight and my 7 Year old brother was watching me. And when I got to the Deathstroke fight, even he said it was dis-appointing. When a just turned 7 year old kid can understand the meaning of anti-climax, that's when you know you've made a mistake
I agree that the lack of boss fights in the game was frustrating as was the Batmobile being shoved down our throats. I get having a few boss fights that involved the car, I even get a few fights like the one against Jason where you got to sneak up on the guy and go for the take down. But almost every fight? It did seem like a waste with Jason and with Deathstroke to not have a real combat showdown with them. With Deathstroke I was like "really? You basically just gave him a weaker version of the cloudburst and that was it? Really!?" The same with Jason. You have this big emotional reveal for Batman (for us it was pretty obvious once they focused on the Jason torture stuff earlier) and instead of a real fight he has to hide from a sniper and ninja attack him the whole time. Come on let's have them go at it. Jason with his anger and training and his tech vs Batman. The Batmobile...I loved the car and having it in the game. It was so much fun racing around and even blasting stuff up in tank mode. But...too much! The game just kept on forcing you to use it. I mean even the Riddler made a ton of race track challenges. Come on, let's have some sense here. Still, I really enjoyed a lot of things in this game. I mean the Joker stuff was gold. I was also shocked when he showed up, I thought he wouldn't be in this. And the way they used him was gold to basically harass Batman the whole time and just wear him down mentally. In the end instead of Batman running scared and hoping for a cure, he has to just straight up face the Joker in his own mind. Take him on, and lock him away for good. That was a great moment. I really enjoyed the game. Despite the weak points there was great stuff in there. I did think the Jason stuff worked well and was a great moment for Batman to realize what the truth was. There is the horror of what Jason went through (torture for a year in Arkham by the Joker...damn), the shock at seeing what it has done to Jason and how broken he was, the fact this guy wants to kill him, and yeah the relief that he's still alive. I find that situation pretty interesting. I can understand Batman needing to maintain control and not lose it when all that stuff happened to Jason, killing Joker would break his ultimate rule and make him unable to keep going as Batman at least under his own standards. But for Jason I get his feelings. Shouldn't he be important enough for Batman to go there? To just lose it and kill off the Joker? Great game. Excellent way to leave things off for now. I'm not sure what is the truth when it comes to the Knightfall protocol (I presume he faked his death so that Batman can become even more terrifying, basically a ghost), but who knows.
I really like your theory about Damian Wayne, Jeremy. Actually, I think it would have been a way better plot twist if they still left the Jason Todd flashbacks in there, but then they revealed it is in fact Damian Wayne and the whole "Revenge Plan" like you said. That would have been a much more interesting concept than just deliberately re-tweaking the Red Hood storyline for the sake of the game. Plus, it would retain Batman's mentality of not wanting to fail Damian the same way he feels like he failed Jason and Barbara.
Honestly i loved the batmobile in this game, i enjoyed every moment with it, all the puzzles where you had to use it, and i really enjoyed the boss fights in the batmobile. I wouldnt get the disappointment with Deathstroke because Arkham Knight was the first Arkham game i ever played so i didnt really know who he was. and i completed the game 100% (except the riddles) and never had a dull moment. Ive now started playing Arkham Asylum and i cant wait to get through that and the other two Arkham games, this has suddenly become maybe my favourite game series of all time
"The batmobile is like sex. It's remarkably fun, when it's not being forced on you"-Jeremy Jahns, 2015
Ry Sty i want to like this comment but 69
I think we can all agree that Joker singing was one of the best things ever.
He'll yes that's the best thing in the game
Just played it

I'm actually pissed about the Deathstroke thing because fighting him was one of the best things in Arkham Origins.
If not the
it was cool but cmon we all failed that at least once.
Ethan Joe took me 20 tries
I will play Arkham Origins JUST so I can go toe to toe with Deathstroke. The boss battle is just my favorite in Arkham Origins.
Imo it's the best boss fight of the series.
The Batman statues were trippy. He felt like a weeping angel.
I thought the same thing. I was a little on edge during that part
Game did it's job then
Josh Jelks
When Batman broke out of that one statue and lunged at the camera, I had to step back a little cause that shit was getting too real
Josh Jelks At first I was just playing the role of Joker and just blew them all away but as they surrounded me, I think both me and the Joker were starting to freak out.
Josh Jelks Loved that bit, it almost felt like a complete role reversal of the predator parts where this time you're the last goon
Not for the casual gamer though, some people don't even know there are multiple robins...
That a great way to look at it
Renwick Davis Agreed.
The Fresh Prince of Philly and yet we still love them all to fucking bits
The Fresh Prince of Philly I feel like you're underrating Arkham Asylum and Batman Begins just a little bit. Both are great not close to it, they are it. The rest is accurate
Explains why I think Begins and Asylum are the best.
I think its funny how when people bring up these games they intentionally leave out Origins. I mean I get it, in my opinion it didn't measure up to the rest of the series, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't interesting things in it.
@@daveman-1997 Thank you!
The could have ruined the Joker's role by putting Mark Hamill in the opening credits, or announcing him during production. I really liked that they didn't do that.
Jacob Knight Yeah, it was a nice surprise.
Jacob Knight Best surprise in the whole game!
Rocksteady on the Arkham Knight - "he is a completely original character that we have designed at Rocksteady in collaboration with DC Comics."
Oh.
Taylor Sharrock same, called it a year ago, hey, that's jason.
Lion_Turtle They did say the Knight is original, not Jason.
Kamikaze Failure Abalasismabababadan
Cleverly wording it and making it a half truth doesn't make it any less of a letdown.
The Freeze fight in Arkham City was so well done, one of the best boss fights
Fr
Looking back, I still hate how they wasted Deathstroke. Love the game for the most part though
The Ridlers forced and endless trophy hunt to get actual ending of the game.. I gave up on that BS... the rest I made to 100% and enjoyed it.
***** Collect them. You'll get the only real boss fight in the game :)
Devecz László So true. So sad. But at least it's the most satisfying Riddler payoff from all the games. AA's was "bleh", AC's was almost decent (because you at least met him in person) and AK's was just sweet.
Devecz László ok, than, I give it another try :)
***** Agreed, but I still pushed through them in all 3 games (I didn't bother with Origins). I thought they were neat in Asylum. City was starting to lose its appeal since there were just too many. Then Knight burnt me out. It becomes tedious without a quick travel option.
That's how Bruce Timm felt about the Riddler when he worked on the original Batman the Animated Series, ironically the Batman show in 2004 focused heavily on the Riddler because it couldn't use Two Face and other villains.
holy cow. I figured it was Jason but it makes a ton of sense if it would have been Damian.
Tyler Worsham not really. He would’ve been like 12
@@matthewcrane5294 That, and Damien idolizes Batman.
The background isn't blue.... Jeremy the background isn't blue!
It's cause Arkham Knight is Red Hood :p
Movies are blue background, video games are red or something like that.
Other way around Andrew.
Andrew S EXACTLY like that... But the other way around.
***** LOL! I don't why I pictured you saying this with such a heightened sense of urgency...it made me laugh
DON'T forget about the fact that batman discovers what joker is scared of, not being remembered. That's deep.
No one has that kind of history with bats and sounds like that
+James Royce-Dawson Plus the bio kind of gave it away. Arkham Knight and Jason Todd just happen to have all the exact same stats? lol
Hush knows Bruce Wayne is Batman.
Dominik Santiago Not to mention there were zero Scarecrow levels. Fucking zero.
Dominik Santiago Couldn't have said it any better.
Not a one button press takedown -_-
"Your parents are dead and I can't stop laughing!"
God Arkham Knight was one hell of a fun ride. Hopefully Rocksteady moves on to Superman, given how LEX FUCKING LUTHOR LEAVES A MESSAGE AT WAYNE TOWER, CONFIRMING THAT HE AND SUPERMAN EXIST IN THE ARKHAM UNIVERSE FUCK YEAHHHHHH!
There's an comics base on the arkham that shows superman
Otaku Neo "an" is only used if the first letter in the next word starts with a vowel. Otherwise you use "a"
Mc7yson well know Iv experiense everithing
Dennis Claros Also the thugs sometimes mentioned "the freak from Metropolis" in their conversations
Rocksteady superman game wouldn't make sense. You'd constantly have to be fighting bosses like lex and doomsday. Superman can't fight random goons because one punch they'd just fly through walls. It would just be a boring game. Superman is an outdated crappy superhero so there's that too.
The best part was when batman grabs joker and says his famous animated series line.
I think we can ALL agree, Jensen Ackles (from batman under the red hood) is THE BEST Jason Todd voice we've had.
leo50perez Because he's the first and only other one?
leo50perez yes !!!, jensen ackles rough and angst voice fits perfectly for Jason.
Also, Mark Hamill will not be returning as Joker."
Fans- "Yeah... Rocksteady was bullshitting us."
You did Spoiler Talk on The Last of Us. And damn it's early
BonyHamburger Ah, there we go. Knew you guys'd remember!
Love your spoiler reviews Jeremy! So cool!
***** you also kinda did one for mass effect 3
***** you also did a few on Mass Effect 3 and its ending
***** jeremy my man i would love to meet you in person problem is i live in sweden :( would love to talk movies with you. You have my love and respect :)
Your Damian idea was actually better than the game version. They just ripped-off and ruined Under the Hood
lol under the hood isn't canon in this universe how did they ruined it
+Cosmas Dexie Well, of course, they ruined it for this universe.
Well, Cap 3 kinda ripped off Civil War, taking the concept for a totally different story.
MAJOR SPOILER
Batman is in this Game
You sonafabitch!
Youruined the game!
Just doing my job
Why!!!!
Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Sir Douchebag I thought it was Spiderman, dude :(
That Batmobile analogy... I have no words...
Damian Wayne would have worked better
How would Damian Wayne work better
Tevya Smolka Because it plays off of the death of Talia from Arkham City gives a reason the arkham knight looks like batman and a way he could have gotten this large empire of soldiers
LazerDude99 huh when you think about it that actually makes more sense then jason todd aka red hood huh interesting
I saved Deathstroke for last assuming it would be epic.......😕
I really didn't like the Arkham Knight and Jason Todd in this.
I always assumed that things like Under The Red Hood were canon in the Akham series, but I guess not.
They also completely change his motivations and personalities.
I don't remember him ever wanting to kill Batman. I know for a fact that he wouldn't do anything to hurt someone like Barbara.
I just didn't really like the take Rocksteady made on it.
it's called "The Arkhamverse" for a reason. It's a separate universe.
Matthew Williams debatable since the killing joke is a story about the joker having no defined story :/
Saying its canon is not an arguement. From what i can tell, versions of olderstories happened but the details are up for interpretation(death in the family isnt exactly the story seen in the game)
Now that you mention it, Damion Wayne would've been a lot better than Jason Todd.
Mr. Orangeaide I feel like they only created the Arkham Knight for the sole purpose of having "Arkham" in the title.
LightningBlade311 that too.
I was hoping you'd do a spoiler talk on this! I missed your game discussions...
No, link just no.
Its 4 AM for me the notification woke me up thanks J.J.😂😂
for me it was obvious that it was Jason Todd as arkham knight
unlike the other arkham games, arkham knight have no challenge maps
Supposedly they will be DLC later. :/ shoulda been available day one but yeah
Hellcaiser4 That's terrible. But at least the extra playable characters have a bigger presence in the story mode.
agreed
Khoa Nguyen It was stupid. They took like three steps back in this game
Khoa Nguyen There were, there was just less of them. They are the AR missions
The Batmobile tank stuff looks terrible from the outset but I recently played it at a friend's house my god it's fun. REALLY fun. And those Cobras are harder than they look.
I'd give Batman Arkham Knight a solid 8/10
Things I liked:
-Combat
-Gliding
-Joker and other big characters such as Nightwing and Harley Quin and the interaction they have with batman, this was my main reason for carrying on with the story.
-RIDING around in the bat mobile
-Overall FUN
Things I didn't like:
-Boss battles were terrible! Scarecrows, Arkham Knights, Penguins, Two Face's, Slade's, and just about everyone else's final battles were just!!!...yeah:(
-Ending was lacklustre and un-fulfilling, leaving us with questions such as what happens with Jason Todd and other characters after Bruce "dies"? (he's not dead)
-TOOOOO many tank battles (soo forced and a cop out)
-Story was mediocre, I mean in a game where the main point of it was 'who is the Arkham Knight?' they painfully blatantly told us his identity before unmasking him.
*rocksteady deserves jailtime for that Deathstroke letdown*
I have no idea what your talking about in this review but I've finished watching all your movie reviews... and I just love your voice ❤❤❤
The last 30 minutes of he game is a fucking mind trip my god
Wha- wha about Knightfall Jeremy? :(
TheRealdealdude2 Seriously, I was hoping to hear his take on this. That entire ending sequence was soo powerful for me.
Taylor Sharrock Powerful? It was vague. If you're ending a franchise and leave it open you are a complete douche.
legopieface I agree, but it seems to me like Azreal took up the mantle of the bat.
Louis Azzilonna Yeah, except for the fact that he is in prison in half of the players save files.
legopieface I went with the obvious Break sword one. I'm pretty sure Azrael would keep his word.
Yeah I I was pissed that they kept making u use the tank mode to fight arkham knight and deathstroke alot in this game the one think arkham origins did right was the fight against deathstroke and I was kind was disappointed that it was Jason Todd because rocksteady kept saying its a new character which arkham knight was but it was Jason Todd then when u fight I was hopeing to fight him hand to hand but they make u sneak around but don't get me wrong I love the game but those two things I didn't like in the game I gave it a 9/10 I liked batman arkham city more than its between the first batman game and this one and then batman arkham origins
-Martin
Jeremy you are just such a great reviewer every time I go to see a movie i watch your review and almost every single time I agree with you
I thought it was Damian Wayne also.
1.Arkham city
2.Arkham asylum
3.Arkham knight
Haven't played origins
Origins is good best boss battles
Origins did Deathstroke justice. I could replay that boss fight all day long!
Hellcaiser4 The fight was nothing but a QTE. It was disappointing.
Gil Ism but better than a tank battle. if given the choice of fighting Deathstroke with a well choreographed QTE or tank fight.......i choose QTE
Gil Ism origins nailed deathstroke. Also bane and the joker, references to the comics. You should play it. I enjoyed the story a lot
And I LOVE how you play that whole Joker taking over scenario. It's awesome that you control the character and it's not a god damn cut scene!!
Jason Todd was also Red Hood in Atkham, but he caught Scarecrows attention after killing Black Mask.
You had to.play the (Gamestop exclusive!?) Story pack to obtain this info.
Had this been part of the game the reveal would have been more satisfying.
You hit the nail on the head about the boss fight stuff.
11th place. And also I loved this game. Some of the batmobile parts are too long. The batsuit was awesome. I'm looking forward to a new game. If they make one.
This is the last one dude.
Ekul HD last batman in the arkham series there's still a lot they can do
true, lets hope for another then!
Hell on Earth I for one don't want a new game. This one had a great ending and making a new one would ruin it
Also, loved how there were so many jump scares that were perfectly timed/spread out. Like I would totally forget about the fact that they added jump scare moments and right as my guard went down, boom surprise haha
Am i the only who think Catwoman was more sexy in Arkham city ?
You're not the only one, bro.
Nope, i thouth that too.
I actually think she's sexier in AK than AC. She's one of the reasons I enjoyed the Riddler side mission. After that I was finally able to ship Bat-Cat :)
Thanks for doing this Jeremy. I was really hoping you'd do a spoiler talk for arkham knight.
Funny how poeple who hated this game now love it. I Always loved this game! Great review As always!
I been checking your page every hour for a batman v superman trailer.....I need it now. Actually i needed it like yesterday
Wow Damian actually would've been a better choice but i like Jason
finally played this game and beat it within a week. spot on, jeremy, especially with the deathstroke part and the shortcoming with jason todd.
When your new character is just a reskin of an old character.
I'm so happy you mentioned the deathstroke boss battle exactly how I felt right when it happened.
5:09 Best. Analogy. Ever
I was kinda hoping Batman would pass the vigilante torch to Nightwing officially towards the end of the game...They make it seem like since Batman is gone(?) that nobody else can enforce the streets...hell have Nightwing become Batman & give hime the recognition he deserves.
MrMyster1ous azreal side quest
Micah Pheonix Azrael goes down to hunt the people who experimented on him or he goes to prison. That's not Justice, that's revenge.
Micah Pheonix Azrael goes down to hunt the people who experimented on him or he goes to prison. That's not Justice, that's revenge.
Nightwing doesn't want to be Batman never has
and that's why he was pissed when batman chose azreal over him right?
Couldn't agree more Jeremy! I really wanted a fight like the one with Deathstroke from Origins, but with the Knight!
I felt like the Arkham Knight was a much better character when you didn't know who he was. As soon as I realized he was Jason Todd he became a lot less interesting.
Damnit Jeremy, you killed my keyboard! i was drinking water when you made your "tank is the same as sex" joke!
I liked the game, I just though that it wasn't as good as Asylum or City.
Arkham Knight is definitely the Dark Knight Rises of the video game series. Lot of hype, but not as good as the second one.
Brilliant comparison
+Philip Catalfamo Yet still awesome.
I LOVE YOU!!! Been waiting for this!!! I LOVE YOU!!!
Wait, if Jason Todd is the Arkham Knight, then what was all that "He's a 100 percent original villain" bullshit that the company never stopped telling everyone?
Well technically the Akrham Knight is lol
A load of horse crap. Kinda like how they told us the batmobile was "just another gadget" and "the freedom of 'being the batman'" was their whole purpose in this game. This whole game was Rocksteady jerking off to the car
Jake Kelly by that they meant 100% original villian *name*, and then took everything from the red hood basically
Batmobile like sex 😂😂😂
Yeah the death stroke fight was my only issue & I was worried you'd spoil the full ending where all everything has been done, but I'd you haven't got all the riddler trophies either so Im glad I still have to look forward to.
Batman Arkham Knight is like "The Dark Knight Rises" IMO Epic Conclusion! :O
Septimus Prime agreed but Arkham Knight was more thrilling than TDKR in my opinion
Delon Luu I agree! :P
My biggest gripes however are the following:
1. Needed one final scene with Bruce Wayne talking to Jason Todd. ( Doesn't make sense that he has such a small role in the end.)
2. Needed a one-on-one fight with Arkham Knight. (The way Jeremy suggested was great.)
3. A one-on-one fight with Deathstroke. ( I wouldn't have minded if they would basically copy the fight that they have in Origins, with new moves.)
I still thoroughly love the game though!
i quit this game after the tunnel section and spoiled the rest of the game from youtube walkthroughs. fuck the batmobile.
***** Hey, you were Jim Gordon in the animated Batman: Year One. But Mike was Jim Gordon in this. Where were you? Belize?
***** Really? You must suck at video games than.
Yeah I'm not that good at video games. Is there anything wrong with that?
Kirill Nielson You pretty much just described martial arts movies in general. Not all games are action games.

Kirill Nielson A lot of people are bitching about the AK.
***** I know. Angry Joe just did a good job breaking it down. But still, it has mostly favorable reviews wherever I look.
Kirill Nielson True. It is getting a little too much praise for my taste.
Just finished the main story and it was great I agree there should have been less bat mobile sections, but that's one flaw.
Better boss fights. Way better.
Please review Batman V Superman The Ultimate Edition! IT'S MUCH BETTER!!!
Did anyone see Angry Joes review. I officially unsubbed to him after it. This was an amazing game. He's been throwing out really shitty reviews.
I agree with you on the bat mobile, great video jeremy
Probably one of the first times I watch a video of yours after playing/watching what you're talking about and you literally hit everything I was thinking while I played. Only thing that was different was I never thought it'd be Damian. Always thought it'd be Jason, hoped it wouldn't be because of how obvious it was to me but, I still enjoyed it. Now I gotta replay Origins to get a good Deathstroke fight.
Did you get a chance to play the dlc? (Harley & Red Hood) Pretty fun but, waaay too short.
The jokers trolling throughout the game was hilarious.
THE BATMAN!
I'm still playing this game.....bro and I love it!!!!
Hopefully Hamill will come back for The Killing Joke animated movie they announced this weekend very excited to see that in movie form.
I knew you would do this, thank you very much Sir Jahns.
i love Nightwing and Red Hood and Deathstroke is my favorite comic book villain, and they were so underutilized in this game. especially Nightwing, not only he was reduced to a mere side note in this game, but him and Barbara are one of the most iconic superhero couples, and they paired her up with Tim Drake in this game because reasons.
Ive now started playing Arkham Asylum and i cant wait to get through that and the other two Arkham games, this has suddenly become maybe my favourite game series of all time
did you nowtice all the billboards and statuse change to show the joker but then you look away and look back and its back to normal..... i loved that.
