My favorite tator tot casserole is “cracked out bacon ranch” lol. - 2lb bag of tator tots - 16oz container of sour cream - 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese - 1 small can of cream of chicken - 1 package of ranch dressing mix - 1 cup of chopped bacon Mix all together and bake at 350 for 40-45 mins. It’s delicious 🤤
When I was a kid, my mom used to make soup beans and corn bread with fried potatoes all the time. (We lived in Kentucky for a little while when I was a kid). I believe my great grandmother is the one who taught her to make it. It's such a nostalgic comfort meal for me. I might have to make it before it gets too warm. I also dunked my bread right into my beans
Girlll you are definitely from Kentucky (also born and raised in Kentucky). Pinto beans with cornbread and fried potatoes with some ketchup! Nice video! Always helps to inspire me to get dinner on the table after watching your videos.
I just did tater tot casserole last night and tried something new. I love a really crispy tater tot, so I cooked them separately first and then added them on top of the casserole, sprinkled with cheese, and set to bake for an additional 10 minutes. Loved having the crisp potato on all sides!
Thoughts and prayers to your family! Please never feel obligated to do these! If it helps to keep your mind clear but never feel obligated!! So glad you are back!
Loved the segment about soup beans & cornbread! I actually love most all of your recipes 'cause they are not fancy, just good down-home meals. Keep up the good work :)
I’ve never seen the “soup beans” and I’m super excited to try it. I’ve had pinto beans in my pantry for a year and had no idea what to make with it. Thank you so much for making these videos
Thank you for the budget friendly recipes. Even the filet mignonette wasn’t a bad price for a date night in. I hope things are starting to get better for y’all. Take care.
So glad to see you back! The cornbread reminds me of walking in my grandma house and her having some cooking up it smelt so good 😊 she always made the best cornbread or anything. I miss her. Prayers for your family and days ahead
Hi Kristen it’s so nice to see you back. ❤️ The past few months has been rough for my hubby and I as well so I can definitely relate. Praying for abundance and peace in your home, family and heart. Love ya girl 🌸 😘
Girl, you practically STOLE those steaks! I'm sure the slight overcooking didn't ruin them. But truthfully, it was the beans/spinach/potatoes/cornbread that made me drool. Like my daddy, I put ketchup AND horseradish on my beans, and a splash of vinegar on my greens. YUM! Thanks for the reminder! Now, about the chicken legs. Can I make those WITHOUT the neighbors running over? Wonderful meals. I don't know why I haven't seen you before, but I subscribed. I like real food!
I'm so happy to see your back doing your what's for dinner videos, everything looks so yummy Kristin, I hope that in time you will start healing from losing your family member, I know exactly what you are feeling because I have been through the same thing, anyway, I'm so glad you're back, I surely miss when you don't post, I just love your southern accent, it's so cute!! Sending you and all of your family lots of love and hugs, take care, I'm looking forward to your next video, God Bless You All 💗🙏
Hello Kristin. So very Glad That your back sweetie. I've kept your Family in my prayers 🙏. I know that it's been a rough time for Y'all. I always love your meals. Yum pinto Beans are My sweet Daddy's Favorite. I try to make them a couple times a month. I make mine Almost the same way you do. I do add a teaspoon of liquid smoke to mine as well and a spoon of Bacon grease. And cook them low and slow for about 6 hours. The bean juice is almost black, yum it's delicious. Everything that you cook looks Delicious. Thanks for sharing. I hope that things get better for you and your family. God Bless Y'all 🙏✝️🎚️ Love From your Indiana Friend. 💜💚💛
Kristen ALL of these meals looked Super Yummy!🍲 I agree, those beans were the Perfect consistency.... YUM!! I Always enjoy your videos,Thanks for sharing!! Your nails 💅 are Too Cute!😍😍Will continue to keep you in prayer!🙏
Love this video and nothing like the sound of a sizzling steak 💕 I been using parchment paper way more for baking too after I heard someone say that foil holds heat never registered until then lol 😂 just recently made the pioneer woman’s breakfast tator tot casserole it was delicious 😋
Love that steak dinner! I like my meat that way. Those brussel sprouts looked so yummy. I started using parchment paper instead of foil a couple years ago and I like it better
You should try cooking chicken legs in a crockpot on high with some water for like three hours depending on how many you cook and then take them out to cool enough to handle, roll them in flour salt and pepper or whatever seasoning and then fry them in a pan of some melted butter until they crisp up ommggg they basically fall off the bone when done in the crockpot
next time you do the steak, perhaps instead of finishing it in the oven just remove them to a warm plate and tent some foil over them so they can rest for a few minutes and I think you might like the outcome better!
That’s exactly how I make my steaks. I make them in a heavy pan on the stove, toss some olive oil (I also add a tiny bit of vegetable oil just so the olive oil doesn’t burn quickly) once I flip the steaks I add a couple pats of butter & a sprig of fresh rosemary & a couple crushed garlic cloves and spoon the butter mixture over the steaks for a couple minutes but I always put them on a separate plate & immediately wrap with foil and stick on a back counter and let it rest for 7-10 minutes. It’s always perfectly medium rare. And now I want steak 😂
So happy to see your video and I am still praying for you and your family, I’m not saying this to add pressure to you, but I want you to know that any content you put out makes me very happy and inspires me 😃 so know you are truly appreciated!
Interesting fact I learned about parchment paper vs tin foil... Parchment paper will actually prevent browning which is why it's used for cookies. Whereas tin foil promotes browning. I just learned that about a month ago.
So glad to see you posted! Prayers for your family! Amazing video as always!! Thank you for doing perfect rows of tator tots😂😂 I have no idea why it’s not my driver, I’m not eating it, and it probably taste the same BUT it drives me crazy seeing them thrown on 😂
My sympathies at the passing of your Mother-in-law. It is difficult to lose someone so close to you, may your memories give you peace until you are reunited in Heaven.
Been watching you for years and you’re what’s for dinner videos are always so great! So sorry to hear about the loss of your husband’s mother on Instagram.
My husband does the best steak and cooks it on the frying pan with garlic and butter like yourself. Never seen anyone else do it that way...isn't it the best!!! Xx
Happy to see a new video❤️. For the pintos..have you ever used smoked turkey legs or wings for seasoning? It’s really good. Keeping your family in my prayers.
Great job as always! All of it looks so good! I do my cheese for the tot casserole after the tots have browned at end ..I sprinkle on last minute for crisp tots but still cheesy 🧀 😋👍
Welcome back sweet girl! We missed you so! I hope you and your family are doing okay even tough it must be really rough. I lost my dad last Christmas so i know how deep these things can cut. Keeping you in my thoughts, sending big warm hugs from the cold cold North. ❤
Welcome back! I’ve missed your videos ☺️ Those beans made my mouth water, wow they looked good! I’m from East, Tennessee..I grew up eating my cornbread crumbled in my beans too. Everything looks delicious as always. Thanks for sharing.
I just found your channel and i’m super excited! i’ve been wanting to cook more often but didn’t have any idea of what to make. a lot of pinterest recipes are too experimental for my southern family 😅
Tator tot casserole is a huge staple in my house we do ours with chicken, sour cream, milk, corn, cream of chicken an then add the tots then the cheese it will take less time with it on top or the cheese will burn I learned that last night 🤣
When I make pinto beans we like the juices from the water thicker than it turns out. To make them more like soup instead of just cooked beans I stir in a can of refried beans to the juices. It gives it great flavor and thickens the juices right up. My mother in law is 90 years old and has cooked pinto beans at least 3 times a weeks for 75 years. When she was at the house and I had made Beans she wanted to know what I did different. She said they were the best beans she had ever eat . She could not believe what I had done. My husband had no idea that was how I cooked beans. My mother in law has both of her daughters and her grandson all adding the refried beans now. Give that a try. For 1 lb I use a 15 oz can. For 2 lbs I use a 29 oz can.
Good to see you back. Keep you and your family in my prayers. I always wondered why people soaked their beans. Now I know. I don't like them but my mom always made them for my dad and whoever else ate them. I think I use to sneak pieces of the ham out of them though 😂. I've been thinking about making the tater tot Casserole again.. been years. I've not ever put corn it it just the beans. If I were you I would put the cheese under and on top of the tater tots. But I love cheese. I can never get any steak or anything like it cooked right. It's always too done. I like it med-rare. Now chicken I am just now cooking it completely done. For years I've been working on frying it done. I even would put it in the oven for an hour and it still wouldn't be done. I made it last week and my son actually liked it and said I did a good job. FINALLY! I'm gonna be cooking it again tonight for a friend. She's picking it up so not sure what she's getting. Me and mouth got me in trouble saying how good it was. I pray it comes out done. Have a question, have you ever got the off brand Velveeta? I was gonna get the actual Velveeta until I seen Walmart price. Just curious if it was good. Have a good week. ❤
We add cumin, tomato and onion and that's mexican pinto. If you add the above mentioned and beer, plus fastback it's called borracho(drunken) beans If you add even mentioned above, add chopped hot dog, bacon and cilantro it becomes frijoles charros(cowboy beans) I use my crockpot to make it easier... Pinto are a mask by utself
Yes pinto beans and corn bread was a favorite in my home growing up Big bait of onions. With it. Omg I like the pretzel bread I’ll try that with hot dogs. It looked good 👍 I’m still a well done steak. ( each there own. Right ). I’m still new this my 2 nd video watching. I’ll have to. Watch your playlist ❤️🙏
