I picked about 250 pods last year from fields. I bought paper lunch bags and put about 12 pods in each bag. I left them out in open sided containers all winter. Last weekend my 32 year old daughter and I spent 3 hours opening up 4 bags of pods, taking the seeds out and rubbing all the fluff between our hands so the seens would fall into a container. Then she got bored and rolled up the fluff and kept throwing it at my son in law. She was covered!!! Lol. I still have TONS to do. Ugh. But, no more rolling thanks to you sharing this! ❤
How long do you keep before planting the seeds? If you clip them and "jarminate" them, you can plant them quite soon after germinating. So, are we dry storaging these seeds until then, with no stratification, or are we still refrigerating them until we prepare them by clipping and keeping them moist until germination? and then planting them in the ground when large and tough enough.
And what month, or early spring, mid-spring, or later? do we put them in the ground or a pot, to bloom when? Sorry, but I was trying to cover all the bases and be thorough and making certain of complete understanding.
@@DannyComer-m4jyou can store the seeds dry until you jarminate. Start the jarmination process in late winter or early spring. Once you have lots of white roots in the jar, you can transfer them to their homes in the ground after the first frost. I would recommend planting them all together, which helps their roots strengthen until they are used to being outdoors. The green may die back when transplanted, but the roots are what matter!
Thanks for helping us grow Milkweed! The monarchs will make good use of it.
Thank you for watching! I’m hoping my first monarch flutters by very soon!

I bet you could do this process inside the paper bags! I hope you can get through all your seeds quickly! And happy planting!!!
Thankyou! Also, I love that shirt!
Thank you! It’s from Duluth Trading ☺️
