I know this is months later, but they did this in the show, it was ridiculous... it didn't hit like it should have in comparison to the sub, which was a giant disappointment given the theme song 110% did and came in full blast.

Honestly, the lyrics and performance on this song aren't terrible. It's the MIXING of the singer's vocals that kills it for everyone. It sounds like he recorded it in his bathroom and just submitted it to Funimation.

The sad thing is that the ones singing this aren't actually that bad. I just don't think this was the right song for them, and I don't think the lyrics fit with how the song is structured up. Funimation usually does a good job dubbing the Japanese songs. Limit break for example sounds amazing in English.
The dub for ultimate battle clearly sounds like it was rushed. Pretty much any english cover on RUclips sounds way better lol. Idk why it turned out so bad but it ends up making the most bad ass scenes in the dub come off as hilarious.

I will never forgive Funimation for how badly they butchered this song. It doesn't pump you up with an intense and ferocious energy like the Japanese version does. They should have left the song in the original Japanese if they weren't gonna bother with the effort of making an English Cover sound just as good.

The singer isn't bad. He isn't just for ultimate battle.
Naw, he definitely is, but this was screwed on a corporate level. Elliot has a great voice and, if it were up to him, this definitely would not have been what was finalized, I'm certain of it. It sounds like they used a demo scratch as the final version, because this sounds nothing like he's put out with his other bands - Haunted Shores, TesseracT, or Good Tiger.

The only justification I can have for this version is just the fact it was made.
While most purists would rather keep everything original including the VA, I appreciate them making it more of their own.
Dubbed openings and endings, certain songs, even sprucing up some lines to be different then the original release. It shows that they love what they do and that they put in effort.
I appreciate the effort they put into dubbing the song, but this version aint it. While I'm not on the same train as everyone saying "They should have left it alone!" I think they could have done better.
Just look at the reception the fan covers get, you don't see dub haters going on any of those telling them they shouldn't have sung it in English. If they do, those comments are buried under all the positive ones.
I actually 100% agree with you. The extra effort to actually make material for the english adaptation is commendable.
I think the people saying they should've left the song alone is when comparing to this version, as it would have been better that way. But I do agree that a much better performance, like We.B's, should have been used.
