Understanding PF and UAN:
Let's say you work for "Techstars," a software company in India with more than 20 employees. As per EPFO regulations, Techstars must create a PF account for you. The EPFO assigns you a unique Universal Account Number (UAN), which acts like your social security number for your PF contributions.
Background Verification Scenario:
Imagine you apply for a new software developer position at "Innovations Inc." Innovations Inc. wants to verify your work experience as mentioned in your resume. Here's how PF and UAN come into play:
Step 1: Employer Consent and Verification Partner
Consent: Innovations Inc. first needs your written consent to access your UAN details. This ensures privacy and avoids unauthorized access to your PF information.
Verification Partner: Innovations Inc. partners with a licensed background verification agency or platform authorized to access the EPFO database.
Step 2: UAN Verification Process
UAN Details: The verification agency uses your provided UAN to access the EPFO database.
Data Retrieval: The database retrieves information linked to your UAN, including:
Previous Employers: A list of companies you've previously worked for that were registered under EPFO (remember, not all companies use PF).
Employment Duration: The duration of your employment at each listed company.
Salary Details (Limited): In some cases, with your specific consent, the verification might reveal your salary details at previous companies. However, access to salary information might be limited or unavailable depending on specific settings.
Step 3: Identifying Fake Experience (Example)
Resume vs. UAN Data: Let's say your resume claims 2 years of experience at "SuperCoders," another software company. However, the UAN verification reveals "SuperCoders" is not listed among your previous employers, or the work duration doesn't match your claim. This raises a red flag for Innovations Inc., indicating a potential discrepancy in your experience.
Step 4: Limitations of UAN Verification (Example)
New Startups: Imagine you freelanced for a new startup, "CreativeCoders," which has less than 20 employees and isn't registered under EPFO. UAN verification wouldn't be able to confirm your freelance experience at CreativeCoders because their PF scheme wouldn't exist.
Salary Discrepancy (Unreliable): Even if salary details are accessible, they might not be a foolproof indicator. Maybe you received a lower starting salary at SuperCoders, and your claimed salary at Innovations Inc. reflects your target raise. Here, other verification methods become crucial.
Additional Verification Methods:
Contacting Previous Employers: Innovations Inc. might directly contact the HR department at "SuperCoders" to confirm your employment details and skills.
Education Verification: They might verify your educational qualifications with the universities you mentioned in your resume.
Reference Checks: They might contact the references you provided to get insights into your work ethic, skills, and experience beyond what your resume portrays.
Conclusion:

See bro.... bgv will be done by only top tier 1 Companies only and sometimes tier 2 Companies also prefer to do. So coming to your question doing bgv depends on their company's bgv process like will happen to do all the employments verifications sometimes and sometimes last three employments. If you put fake that will be noticed. So try not to do that.
As a EPFO EMPLOYEE i would like to give some important TIPS.
1. Dont work on multiple companies at the same time because employer can saw your all service details.
2. Dont create any fake PF acoount because only fake PF account is created but PF amount is not credited in that FAKE account. So in this case PF passbook cannot be available nd u will b caught by employer.
3. If the service is overlapped (working in multiple companies at same time) then it is very hard to change date of joining or date of exit which is already updated by employer.
4. From the last 2-3 years aadhar is compulsory linked to uan. Hence you cannot create new uan again.
5. Last nd important thing is uan, pf accounts, and any other data inthe uan cannot be deleted. Its permanent. Only date of joining and date of exit can be changed by submitting J.D. if it is wrongly updated by employer

Your designation cannot be seen in our EPFO database. Simply EPFO doesnt know your designation/role in the previous company.
So your new company doesnt know about your previous designation from our epfo database/website.

You are lucky, if you get a new UAN it is fine. You should use that UAN for all your future career, and you should NOT keep the experience associated with the old UAN in your resume.

Hi.. PF portal will have only organization name , Date of joining and Date of leaving details. It doesn’t having details like Roles that you worked in Org. Pls go head with your trails.

No issue, em kaadu. Fresher ga try cheyyochu. Nenu 2 months oka company lo chesi manesa naaku pf create aindi. But after 1.5 years gap tarwata MNC lo join ayya fresher ga. Ippudu second company switch ayya kuda. As of now no issue with old pf. But Anni companies lo same process Ani cheppanu. But mostly freshers ki bgv lo pf check cheyyaru Ani na opinion. Nobody can give you correct answer. PF valla vache major issue entante PF accounts overlapping alantivi future lo avvakunda chusko. But prathi daniki oka solution untadhi.

try to get that declaration and, when you switch, get relieving letter, experience letter

Declaration is nothing but changing the name, joining dates and exit dates in EPFO portal according to the updated information in EPFO, you may ask the documents like reliving letter/experience letter that matches exactly with the information in EPFO
Main point you forgot Anna. My friend faced this issue consultancy created PF account but there is no deductions so company asked regarding deductions also . He dont have answer ..!

Try for small companies and stick to the company for 3-4 years and then plan for service based companies, stick to the company for 3 years...later plan for product based companies.....Yu will look clean....

Normally BGV team will not ask for pf details unless they get doubt on the candidature. Now a days companies are asking pf number to verify moonlighting not to identify fake resource.
Due to moonlight only PF verification doing but nowadays without PF not processing further, So it will effect for both.

PF is not mandatory as per policy. BGV lo edhina issue vuntey ney they will ask for PF or FORM 16 or Bank statement as an additional to prove your genuinity.

My brother worked in couple of IT companies as tech support. If we edit Offer letter, and Payslips to change the Job designation to Software Engineer and increase Salary package without changing basic pay and PF deductions. Could they caught us in the background verification?

No problem will happen if u have real exp irrespective of technology,but make sure give the proper person number if asked for verification

Yes... that is very common mistake everybody is doing. If we have proper exit letters, that works even though we have to give explanation. But post covid the scenario has been changed. Moon lighting came into lime light and freelancing works came into picture. Earlier it was a discrepancy in bgv if its full time. This issue is called Dual employment discrepancy... Best thing is Open communication to the employer.. A worker is not permitted to work in two workplaces at once, according to Section 60 of the Factories Act of 1948..
I have 10 yrs wrk ex. I hv 2 mnths of employment in year 2020. It is too short so I am not showing it on CV. I have relieving letter and got a clear exit. Is this an issue?
