You know foodtube what i love about your videos for indian food. They are authentic. They are to the point and fast. They make me wanna get up and start cooking my own. Can't wait for more such recipes on food tube. Good job!
@boy638 that shot was from another video and edited into this one for a visual idea. Check out the video she made the same day on this channel called "Sweet & Sour Lentil Dhal | Maunika Gowardhan" specifically at the 0:45 marker.
Maunika Gowardhan Maybe I will! Don't know if I'll find that cheese though, but then I just replace it with ricotta or haloumi. (probably the least expensive one)
***** I tried with ricotta which did not work at all, basically just melted in the pan, so chicken or maybe haloumi next time. It did not ruin the whole dish though, I really enjoyed the spices.
rwoz how about paneer next time? paneer is not just an indian word for cottage cheese or any other cheese for that matter. it's a kind of cheese. for recipes involving paneer, you need paneer. it is readily available.
Perfect. Tastes just the way you describe it and easy to make. Softness of paneer, crunchiness of bell pepper and a little tanginess from tomato comes in different packages while eating but even before you realize they mix up nicely. Level of spice can be varied. *****/*****
I Did modification of your recipe, added ginger garlic paste and tomato pure instead of pieces and slightly fried paneer. Tasted exactly restaurant style.
I made this last weekend and it turned out good. The recipe was quick and easy to follow. I also made the naan from Maunikas website which again was quick and simple to make. I had the paneer and 4naans made from start to finish complete in about 30-40mins.
I tried cooked this today with tofu instead of paneer and added one heaped tablespoon of tomato puree. It was fantastic, thanks for this great recipe!! :)
I love such videos because I can totally see myself cooking this in my dorms! It is really easy and the ingredients are easy to get from a supermarket! Also I love green pepper and so this dish is awesome!
Paneer is a great cheese , I bought some and tried it on the barbecue as the shop had sold out of Haloumi , It's so less salty and it doesn't melt. It tasted great and absorbed the great smoke taste of lump wood charcoal. BTW why doesn't't harouni and paneer melt?? *must look that up. This is a nice recipe. I normally have meat Jalfrezi , but I do veggie quite a lot.
Your Stat is of high rating! 😆2022 resolution - play outside. You have my vote. I keep you in the list relatable now! I watched till the end and i love to give you thumbs up!
My Aunty used to make this for me all the time when I came home from uni! Now that she's back in India, I really should learn how to make this for myself!
This looks so awesome! but I am vegan so that means no cheese. I tried panner before and I think it doesn't have a strong taste. Do you think I could substitute the paneer for tofu? Thanks a lot!
Love this recipe!! Maunika is great, she makes everything look so simple! This is one of those dishes you can practically smell through the screen. And it's brilliant. cheers! xx
@turtlepowersf there are lots of videos on youtube how to make your own paneer at home, its easy we make it at our shop all the time,i just love paneer and you can replace paneer with tofu also.
This looks easy. I almost have all of the ingredients. Need to do a little more shopping. Time to increase my cooking skill! Thanks alot for sharing! =)
and some fresh chilies, especially if using only Kashmiri chili powder, which is not really hot--cayenne or the usual Indian red chili powder would be a good substitute for at least part of the Kashmiri chili powder. I also did not see any garam masala added, and it is usually used in this dish.
2 questions: Can i substitute Paneer cheese with haloumi? I've never heard of paneer before I wouldn't know where to buy it in my country. I saw that you sliced the ginger, i either grate it or chop it up reeeeally small. Aren't big chunks of ginger way too flavourfull and hard to chew?
I know this comment is super old but paneer is very easy to make at home! If you search on youtube you will find plenty of well explained videos. All you need is whole milk, vinegar/lemon, and salt. Paneer is honestly such a tasty vegetarian source of protein I highly recommend you to try it!
wow. i so want to try this!! where did you get the paneer from? or what is it called on packaging like? .. i don't want to make my own cheese i want to buy a block so let me know Thank you!
Could someone post the recipe for Perfect Paneer Jalfrezi looked at the link given and it's not on Jamie Oliver's site. Please. Thank you. This looks so yummy.
Ma'am please do mention on salt also, my friend cooked it without salt and ate thinking this dish is prepared without salt😣 ... There are people without self thoughts.. please do take care of all... By the way.. I also cooked it was just yum. And definately a time saver🙏🙏
Indian cuisine is without a doubt one of the best and tastiest in the world. I love it
love love this beautiful lady, her style in cooking, and her lovely dishes!
I love Jalfrrezi!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kababish in Moseley, Birmingham does one of the best I've tasted. May I please request a dish? Desi Lamb
DJ I think you will love "lamb rogan josh" if you try it and if it's done right.
Rogan josh is a Kashmiri dish. Unfortunately most restaurants don't get it right as they serve mutton curry in stead of rogan josh.
I can't wait until RUclips has a smell function
Next april fools lie

How was it?
"Add a slpash of water"
*pours loads of water in* lol
You do want a light sauce to vary the water accordingly. No more than 50-70mls:)
Maunika Gowardhan Ah i see, because it seems so much water in the video. Thanks.

Maunika Gowardhan Maybe I will! Don't know if I'll find that cheese though, but then I just replace it with ricotta or haloumi. (probably the least expensive one)
Or even chicken/ lamb will taste lovely.

Just made this Jalfrezi accidentally few minutes ago and it taste incredible!
What a nice simple recipe to follow, thanks Maunika :-)
Her skin is perfect!
I normally marinate the paneer cubes in soya sauce for a bit before frying which makes them moist and crispy :)
Sounds lovely!

Looks great! Will definitely be trying this one!
This looks so awesome! but I am vegan so that means no cheese. I tried panner before and I think it doesn't have a strong taste. Do you think I could substitute the paneer for tofu? Thanks a lot!

Would the very firm tofu take its place possibly??!! Looked similar??
Love her accent
Good taste, very interesting, I used feta instead of paneer... thumbs up :-)

I am forever grateful.
Wow this looks amazing! I will try this tomorrow. Just need to get some paneer tomorrow. Thank you for the tip of soaking the paneer first :)
I think i will have it with a roti as i have no idea how to make fresh paratha.
MendhiSensations cook your roti with some oil/ghee/butter instead of just dry cooking. you will have a rudimentary paratha.
Waqar Abbasi thanks. I made my very first paratha :)
Why did I watch this when I was hungry...
Please do a Chicken tikka masala in one of your next videos!
More indian veg recipes please!

Unimaginable really! 😅
Paneer you should put in the end 🍀❤️🍀
Hi, looks interesting but I can't find the recepie written anywhere, can you please help with the same??
looks like a wonderful dish, but did the execution not seem sub-par? Burnt garlic, late addition tomato and ginger?
Maunika, do you use olive oil for that recipe?
It looked more like vegetable or sunflower oil.
Ma'am please do mention on salt also, my friend cooked it without salt and ate thinking this dish is prepared without salt😣 ... There are people without self thoughts.. please do take care of all...
By the way.. I also cooked it was just yum. And definately a time saver🙏🙏
