Naguabo was a hot beach housing market about 20 years ago since it was only a 15 minute drive to the old Roosevelt Roads Naval Station. I remember going to an awesome Christmas beach party back in 2002 at a coworkers house there. But once the Naval station was decommissioned in 2004 the town suffered a housing crash along with other surrounding towns. I moved away in 2003 just as they had announced the base was going to be decommissioned but it didn't take away how beautiful that beach town is. Another plus is that it is only 30 minutes away from the ferry to the islands of Vieques and Culebra.

@@dorkladytravels If I am not mistaken that was more on the polititians having delusional dreams. Years ago they tried to get multiple investors to develop the old Naval station to some dream like resort but no one invested.

I grew up near Naguabo in Verde Mar, Humacao and been to Naguabo many times. The town needs a serious infusion of money to improve it's current state. Too many abandoned old houses.

Naguabo is like a seashell. Look ugly outside but is a treasure inside. I used to live at Praderas del Este and Naguabo has suffer from abandoned structures and poor management. From the entertaining perspective, Naguabo has a lot to enjoy; from a beautiful oceanfront to el Yunke Rainforest. Naguabo has beautiful beaches, nice weather and very humble and friendly people. Naguabo could be a real state powerhouse if the infrastructure was well taken.

Another wonderful video from Diane! There’s so much to learn about our island, and by watching Diane’s videos we get to learn a lot... love to see the Plazas and the quaint towns, and of course the wonderful scenery. Thanks, Diane.

Wow!! brought back so much memories. when I lived in Juncos PR about 30 minutes from Naguabo back in the 90s. when you first went to the beach where the metal bridge is at, Raúl starts talking about the land that's for sale across the river, In that land back then there used to be quite a few DC-3 airplane remnants there, never knew the story of why they were there, as a teenager back then we went exploring through all the planes that were there on that land. I still have a souvenir from one of those planes.. And when it comes to the Fanduca and Malecón great memories with family and friends at the beach and enjoying delicious foods there.
Thank you for the video!. looking forward to moving back to the island. I truly miss the mountains.. Best regards from Central Florida..

Oh sure, "lots of places with potential" until the next hurricane strikes which we all know will happen sooner rather than later with the way oceans are getting warmer with global warming which it is OUT OF CONTROL! .... I personally would NOT buy anything near the ocean.

Guaynabo are the money homes. Homes there are over $1 million. Also Condado plaza the apartments there are millions but the people in Puerto Rico that have a lot of money they tend to live in the countryside in huge huge houses and have a lot of acreage but regular urban areas where there’s money is Guaynabo and those homes are probably from one to 7 plus. million.

@@dorkladytravels yes. Would you have to understand when Puerto Rico is featured in a documentary they always feature the poor areas in Puerto Rico you’ll never see documentaries of how the world to do live in Puerto Rico that’s nonexistent. The fact of the matter is Puerto Rico is one of the wealthier Caribbean nations. Of course there’s many problems in Puerto Rico or Puerto Rico in the Caribbean is the wealthiest this is why you have Dominicans crossing over risking their lives or Haitians coming to Puerto Rico.

That little island is the Santiago Cay or as the locals call the Monkey Island. We were told not to sail to that island on the weekends because it was full of monkeys that had rabies and herpes. Also, the local government didn't want them hitching a ride to the main island.

That little island that you saw monkey Island you could see it closer if you go to el Muelle de Humacao.. I don't know if it has been fixed after the hurricane but it is the best place to see it closer, there were some small boats that used to take certain people to the island, used to go fishing with my father there on the Humacao dock. there were good restaurants there too

I purchased in Naguabo in2010 tried to buy abondoned houses but its a problem families that inheirted those homes just let them rot to ruins but dont agree to sell they rather it fall apart. municipality doesnt make the heirs clean or repair those homes so half the town even down town are in ruins beyond repair. It is sad . Even a castle that can be turned into a cafe or turist office is in ruin. Yes there is potential but they dont allow it.

Get your facts straight, the place is a hole in the wall. The town plaza needs a complete do over and a lot of residents do not maintain they property. Garbage along the roads and crime is high, but that's Puerto Rico, I lived there and sold out back in 2016! Sorry Diane
