Seems to me like the puppy didn't even want to go into the bed as much as it wanted to play with the cat. => It follows the cat in the end instead of occupying the bed instead.

I had cats named Peaches and Jersey who were brother and sister. Peaches had a favorite spot to sleep next to the couch on a warm blanket. One day, she saw Jersey sleeping in her spot. So, she walked up and laid right on top of him. It didn't take Jersey long to realize that oxygen was more valuable than comfort. 😊

Was cute in the beginning but you can see that both animals were getting stressed, especially the cat.
@Y: Yes, I’m not a big fan of watching videos like this; I get too nervous for the cat. We can joke about cats being the boss but the dog is heavier, rougher in its play and with one bite, could (unintentionally) gravely harm the cat. I’ve had both species and would have stepped in before the pup got excited.

He's outgrown that bed like a toddler outgrows their shoes every couple of months. Might as well just jump up to the king size that he looks like he'll need.

Make sure all your pets have the beds they need.
Doesn't matter how many beds you have..the cats always take the dog's bed.
Just provide two multi use beds. One can't use both at the same time.

We had a senior cat, she was 16, when we got our GS. Xena, the puppy didn’t have much experience with cats. Especially old, cranky cats that hisses if someone walks by her chair. Xena got so excited seeing a cat up close, Avonlea put a stop to that real fast with claws to the nose. Xena never figured out anything about cats, never gave up on trying to herd them.

I had two cats that would have trained that dog. I had a 110 lbs Rottweiler and he knew his place. They were tough cats.

Look how at first the cat was not even bothered enough to move,.like ok, I didn't know this was your seat, here I'll move,..ohh no,..hmmpf not in the least was he prepared to give up that spot,.."hey man,..yeah I just got so tired, and just wanted to lay down for a spell,..hey, hey, can't I just lay here a few minutes?,..please,.please please sir,..you have all night to lay here, it's the middle of the day, ..oh c'mon now, is that really necessary,..I don't wanna fight and rough house about it!",...so funny, and the calmness of the cat,..and puppy, little darlin,..huh, mouthing off all kinds of objections, and discontent,..but it looks and sounds so very cute, we think it's adorable, but he was as serious as can be,..now see by now human parents would've heard this exchange, and being tired and worn out cause the kids are up like the sun 24/7, huh, would've just said let her or him have it,..let your sister have it, just give it to her, hmmpf on the side of having calm once more for however long it will last, instead of refereeing,..lol,..ohh God, I swear, people may not think so, but animals at times just like kids, they fight over stuff, jealousy rears it's head,..to funny,..Godspeed, long healthy, happy life to these darlins, and family,...
