A stepparent is just that. They should never force their stepchild to accept them as a replacement for the other parent. Not all stepparents are evil,twisted people, but some are.

My oldest son had an amazing vocabulary by 2 yrs old, he read billboards out loud to me by age 3! My youngest son did not have this gift, he struggled all the way

This story like so many others illustrated the wrong way to create a relationship between a child who lost a parent to a step parent. The remaining parent should never introduce nor think of their new partner as their child's new parent.
A step parent is a parent. If a step parent isn't going to step up and act like a real parent, then they shouldn't be a step parent.
@maxpowers9129 unfortunately it goes both ways the child may not accept the step parent and that should be taken into consideration
When dealing with your new partner and their relationship with your children you should remember their personalities and ways of behaving before you accuse them of being in the wrong when it comes to your new partner and their behavior and actions.

This is painful to listen to.
Baby dresses frequently come with pins in them. You always check baby clothes and wash them before putting them on the infant. A pin prick isn’t usually a serious injury. I assume no one does any kind of research before putting this crap together.

They come with safety pins which wouldn’t have hurt her on impact. They do not put straight pins in children’s clothes!!
So, if the daughter had finished High School and was in vocational school, why would this woman be her “new mom”?
My Father tried this same stunt after his remarriage to his new wife. He said "she is your mom now." Ive accepted Ellen. However, She , my mother and my sisters are all dramatic and self centered.

You already had your mind made up. You already graduated from high school and in vocational school. It was 2yrs after your mom’s death. Your dad has a right to move on as well as you have a right to your feelings. No one is forcing you to hang out with the woman. So you destroy the dolls in front of your daughter? Hate the passive aggressive nature from the daughter
The frequent Gaurdz commercials is irritating!
The lady loved the guy and I guess she should have been treated gently. She was insecure and instead of divorcing her, she should have been counselled and treated with love.
