Amos has always been the most psychologically interesting character in the show and taking him back to Baltimore in these three episodes prove why. Wes was born to play Amos - he's imbued him with such depth, humanity, tenderness and unrestrained rage, almost an Omar Little from The Wire but in space. Welcome back you beautiful bastards. I missed you way more than I can put in words.
And not just that, add to the list the fact that Amos still appears as a good person similar to an anti-hero only because he's ruthless with the truth. Just goes to show how far honesty can get you, especially if you are more than capable of surviving any consequences from being too honest.
I live in Baltimore and everytime I drive passed the building on Druid Lake that Omar jumped off I yell Yo Omar!!! at the top of my lungs. Just a fun tradition my friends and I started years ago.
i just finished the third book, and Amos' relationship with Pastor Anna has so many great moments where we dig further into how human he is and how strong his own sense of morality is. Anna (as a POV character in book) introspects about how Amos could've been the friendly maintnance tech but he would kill without hesitation. I love his development with Prax too.
I think he is so interesting because he isn't like any character trope you expect him to fit into. He isn't a psychopath, or a sociopath, he's not just the muscle dummy, he's not some rage monster, etc. He's all those things and more but none of them. He's a lone wolf out for himself but he is also a fierce protector of others as he chooses. Very much a character of dichotomies. You never know exactly what he is going to do or say or how he will react but whatever it is, it isn't random it is that character. HIs expressions and reactions often seem deliberate and with a clear sense of purpose but afterwards he seems like he is trying to figure out why he just did those things and who he is. Like all great characters, you can't sum him up in a sentence.

This was great thanks guys. I was up til 4am binging and gonna rewatch still. :)
I have a hard time reconciling the happy person that Wes is with darkness of Amos :)
Me too! Look at how naturally he breaks into a smile while listening and how easily he jokes around. Where does that "dark place" come from that produces Amos? Well, I probably don't want to know, but it shows he's a great actor and not just playing himself.
Do they steer away from book spoilers?
It's called acting!!
@@MTerrance We're talking contrast, yes it's acting and thanks for the "well duh" moment. The Point and you're head.......the altitude difference was significant
@@andrewinireland There is a good article on how Wes prepared to play Amos. He did a lot of research including consulting with a psychiatrist based on the back story provided by The Churn. Incidentally, The Churn is a good read. Highly recommended.
Appreciate the team putting this together, I am hoping Amazon also releases longer Prime After Shows they do for only 3-5 minutes in the episodes.
I love this show so much. Only seen Ep 1 so far but WOW I loved it so much. I had a tear form in my eye as the intro played.
Miss this show, LOVE IT!
Now....time for Ep 2!
This is such a great show. I am so happy y'all are doing the after show. I can't get enough of the story of The Expanse.
Fantastic to see show creative process explained in such an entertaining way. Usually we only hear snippets at FX convention panel discussions which are not very effective at explaining this aspect of the show. I think the way you kicked off this year by giving us 3 episodes to kickoff fan discussion boards was great. Then we get to slowly unwind the rest of season to take in details as well as to visit with the actors. Epic series. No matter what happens re further seasons, I have the books
One of the best Sci-fi series made!
Wes is such a nerd lol I love that guy.
Thank you Naren shankar! And all people who made this possible. Please keep making more and more of it! I absolutely love the expanse. Love from India🇮🇳
This is a screaming firehawk of an aftershow. Thank you!
We love you, Naren!!
Thank you, for everything!
I binge rewatched the first 4 seasons in prep for season 5 dropping, and I've watched the first 2 from S5. It's such an awesome series. I love all the characters, even the ones we're supposed to hate (the biggest transformation for me being Klaes Ashford's arc). What a great show, you should all be so proud of the masterpiece you've created.
Thanks for helping me find out what a show runner is without asking and looking stupid, which I was about to do anyway. He is amazing as is everyone. The Expance is a well oiled machine that has morphed into an entity that really defies description. I'm not sure anyone can define it correctly. Only that it's like nothing experienced before! Thank you.
sets were amassing acting top class omg how meny extras. special effects brilliant geez how much was spent on this series
I hope you get the chance to shoot seasons 7 through 9.
God I love this show. The expanse is amazing. I hate that it's weekly release now. It was meant to be binged
I agree! It's some kind of obnoxious throwback to broadcast TV.
thank you for doing this, this is exactly i wished shows like tng had more
After reading the books. I'm so in love with this television production. I binged heavy for the early seasons. Finally watching on release. The rocinate crew separated is showing off the amazing casting choices of the production.
Just watched all 3 episodes and it's AMAZING!!!!! can't wait to see the rest! When are the next episodes in???? 😬
I’m really impressed by the production quality of season 5. It’s an interesting point in the story as well!
I love the anecdotes from production of the show to overcome problems. Keep it up!
Season 5 is great so far, and I can’t wait for next weeks episode!
Gotta love it when most of the crew all click together so well. That's what is going on with the entire crew on this show - production, writing, acting, all of em....
So far so good! keep up the good work guys!.
Amazing show! Best space series till date. I hope it continues till season 10 at least.
Thanks so much for doing these videos about your great show
Love the little things like the added logos on the hand displays. Added details that make it more realistic.
I really liked hearing about the work that goes into the editing. When will we see the aftershows for eps 2&3?
