How does one quickly choose not to placate one of the power centers when emotional turmoil arises? No insight is provided on this. I suppose if it were that easy many more people would succeed in following this path. My issue is that while this all sounds very cogent I am skeptical of its promise to lead to happiness in God. My suspicion is that anyone who follows this (given the internal logic) will experience severe psychic pain and possibly come to conclusion that there is no promised land on the other side of this biblical desert. It's an odd thing that such a merciful God doesn't just heal people in the first place. What's up with the self torture as a precondition for entering the promised land?
Thank you, Fr. Thomas. Thank you, Contemplative Outreach for this teaching.
