Great video thanks. My 2005 V70 has a different clip arrangement. It has two legs that poke out of the plastic ring. The legs have to be squeezed together to release the clips. Squirt some silicone spray into the legs and work them free. Then squeeze the legs, twist and pull and the hose pops off.
@@Peppermint1 Question, I just had that hose replaced on my 05 XC70 because it busted while driving on the highway. But when I picked it up from the mechanic, the reduced engine performance message comes on now and a bunch codes are reading on my of scanner. Did the mechanic do something to car?
My connector disintegrated today when I tried wiping a sign of coolant seepage off it. That locking ring has been driving me crazy, I knew you would have a video to explain how easy it actually operates! You have taught me SO much about my S60, thanks again for all your hardwork and detailed explanations.
If draining the reservoir first, when you lift the reservoir disconnect first the electrical plug underneath so you don't damage the level sensor wire.

Thank you for your videos, helps. Question our s60 has low heat output. I put my scan tool in and looked at coolant temp. it showed 190 degrees F. So my thermostat should be good. I replaced it several years ago. Any other ideas of possibility's that can cause low heat in car ? I am going to take the heater hoses off and reverse flow with water to flush heater core. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Can you install the new heater core with the aluminum lines already clipped in the unit? It would make things a bit simpler if it is possible. One wouldn't have to wrestle with seating the lines to the heater core in an area so small.
I'm not aware, the lines are quite high and may not pass in that in that position. I do have a video about the heater core in left hand driving cars and also put in the comments for that video extra tips. The idea with connecting back the alu lines is to not bend them and to have the neck perfectly aligned - it also helps to undo the bolt near the rubber hoses inside the engine bay
I haven't done this, but I'm guessing, just remove both hoses from the car, then take the longer one and cut the end with the clip, then clamp this hose between the two openings on the block. Test first to check the hose doesn't crimp - if it does crimp then try finding a standard coolant hose with the same diameter and connecting it at the block openings
The other end is attached to the engine block with worm clamps - you'll need a flat screw driver to push into the edge of the hose all around because it gets 'attached' on the metal, from sitting for many years
QUESTION!!! Those little pins/clips are soooo hard to get on! Ive had my car out of commission for three days and its the LAST STEP!!!! I cant get them on. HOW DID YOU DO THE TOP CLIP?!?!?!?!?!? Pleaseee help
You can grab more around the plastic piece, but be aware that as you turn it, two tabs will want to lift so don't cover these with your fingers. This piece has sat in there for years and it's harder to turn at first. I don't recommend spraying anything on it as it may damage the seals inside. So just start twisting it left and right a little, then a little more, until it starts moving as it should. Like an old rusted key barrel. Mind you, do this with a COLD engine, because when the engine is hot, the seals will stick inside and will be difficult to break loose.
See this - it's for left hand driving cars, if you have a right hand steering, you will need to cut and glue back a box that is blocking the heater core. Also notice that you can move up the steering u-joint and even remove it completely (mark the position first) in order to clear the heater core ruclips.net/video/37u_oQ0Q0Gc/видео.html
Sure, as long as you connect them into each other safely with some adapter and collars, to close the loop. But in theory this should not be needed because the heater core is a continuous flow system. If you have issues with cabin heating, I would recommend this video ruclips.net/video/69ymGTqHxRw/видео.html I also have a video on my channel showing how to remove the heater core, if needed

Much appreciate, Jake
thanks I flushed my heater core last week and it is blowing warmer now. All ready for winter.
EXCELLENT DESCRIPTION! THANK YOU! (Same on the XC90, but harder to get there :-)) THANKS AGAIN, you saved me a lot of time!

Please look at your comments Peppermint!!
Very informative great instructions thanks a million
Outstanding detail. Thank you so much!
Welcome
Thank you. About to pull an engine out of an XC90 to rebuild the transmission.
A rather big job. Don't hesitate to ask on forums about any questions, perhaps also good to rebuild the angle gear if not yet done. Good luck!
Thank you Peppermint!
Mine broke and I replaced them with Brass Elbows. Much cheaper and works perfectly.
thx you for making this video
Helpfully video danke schön
Thanks for posting. About to do S80 T6 hoses.
Welcome
Thanks! Very clear video!

Hello ! Do you have a video how to bypass the hoses ?
I haven't done this, but I'm guessing, just remove both hoses from the car, then take the longer one and cut the end with the clip, then clamp this hose between the two openings on the block. Test first to check the hose doesn't crimp - if it does crimp then try finding a standard coolant hose with the same diameter and connecting it at the block openings
Thank you. I was able to disconnect them but how do I remove the hoses completely?
The other end is attached to the engine block with worm clamps - you'll need a flat screw driver to push into the edge of the hose all around because it gets 'attached' on the metal, from sitting for many years
@@Peppermint1 THANK YOU!
Is is the same house connector for XC90?
What is the diameter of the metal tube coming out of the firewall?
I need to know myself
but please could you tell me how to bypass both of them ?
i have an xc70 countryman 2006 but my clips look different and can't remove them

This question goes to the volvo heater core replacement video!

How do I get the silver piece from the hose so I can change my connector?
We only change the entire hose - used one off Ebay should be fine. That silver piece seems pressed on the hose, perhaps non removable
On this car, is this where you remove the heater core? Or is it removed from inside the car.
See this - it's for left hand driving cars, if you have a right hand steering, you will need to cut and glue back a box that is blocking the heater core. Also notice that you can move up the steering u-joint and even remove it completely (mark the position first) in order to clear the heater core ruclips.net/video/37u_oQ0Q0Gc/видео.html
can i still drive disconnecting them?
