Thank you for that trip down memory lane. I moved to the Modesto area in 1978 following the Marine Corps and fortunately was hired by then Pacific Telephone, so I know these streets well. I spent 30 years with the company but spent my last 5 years in Sonora where I retired in 2008 and now live in Tucson AZ. Modesto was a great place to raise a family and live. I have nothing but fond memories of the area. Thanks, again, for the video.
@@jeffgrey663 Oh neat! I love this area! When visiting Tombstone, Bisbee or Cochise County, I like to have breakfast at the Farmer's Country Cafe, I think it's called. Nice little place. I settled here because my oldest son graduated from the University of Arizona. Now, my youngest graduated from there, as well. My middle son went to Stanislaus State and teaches in Ceres. Small world! Thanks for responding!
Moved away two years ago. When I miss Modesto, I watch this video. Makes me happy. Lots of fun and friends downtown. Great memories. Would love to see a College neighborhood video. We lived there.
At 15:26 you pass on the left (although you can’t see it) a bronze statue of an American native Indian on the street corner. My cousin was the model for the face. He was seen in a restaurant by the artist and was asked to pose for it. The body was not his. Me cousin was not that good of shape. He wasn’t paid. He did however get a miniature statuette of the final product.
Thank you for this video..I was hoping you you went to the burrito trucks by taco bell. I moved to Massachusetts for over 16 years and I love seeing all the memories in Modesto, of course things have updated a lot. I definitely appreciate you making this video!

I was homeless here for almost 2 1/2 months back in 2021, and, it was one of the best times or experience that I had in my life. I was around 31 years old back then. Everyday was like an adventure. Every people I meet is like meeting someone that was meant to be my partner or was meant to be there at that moment with me, whatever that moment was, no matter how crazy or simple, or normal, out of this world it was. Hahahahhaha. Went to prison many times and all of them has different unforgettable, memorable, and simply the b3st experience. Knighted by a 33rd Freemason, and this is just 10% or maybe 8% of the story. 😂😂😂😂

Japan is an interesting place for visitors. But for the ppl who live there it isn't. That is the story of Modesto. Guests and visitors enjoy their stay. It's just the town folks who may beg a differ.
Nice video that shows downtown of mine hometown, there is no place in downtown for young people to do expect Brandon theater for a movie. They should built something for them to go to instead of outside of town.
What separates high class Modesto from low? It's how many steps from the back door before they squat. Seriously, I have encountered such ignorance and corruption in my fifty years of working travel.

@@minirelish ..... My last message, I described Modesto as well as anyone on here. I lived in this area most of my life, but more favorable to nearby Turlock. Yes, there always better this, or that, but this is where my folks settled when coming from Ohio. Modesto is true Central California. Not far from the mountains, or the ocean. At this particular moment in time, Modesto is not looking its best, because of cut backs due to the virus, and the homeless everywhere. Truthfully, this is not a good time to fantasize where the best places to live. Not fair to those cities who are suffering now, and the many years it will take to recover. However, San Francisco in my opinion, has always been a shit hole place, with a few attractions. Whenever I leave that city, I can’t wait to get home. I go the country roads home, and when I smell the fertilizer, the silage, and the cow shit, I know I have arrived. I am a country boy, who likes his space. I like to scratch it where it itches ....🤠
