85% of my income comes from return clients. Because I always pay attention. To what the client has to say. And try to work with them. To give them something they can be proud to wear. Even if their idea just won't work. For what ever reason. I set and explain to them why it won't work. And we figure out how to proceed together. This is some great advice. I wish I had been given this advice when I started. I need to work on being excited. About the design no matter what it is. Which can be hard for anyone. If you don't really care for it. But I will be working on this issue. Because it has cost me quite a bit of money.
People appreciate a business that puts them at the center of the experience before, during, and after the money changes hands. Our business isn’t any different. Well said, Ben!
😢 I have recently opened a tattoo shop, and I try very hard to do exactly what you mentioned in this video. I’m watching your videos because I need help and I don’t know where to get it
im not a tottooist ( is that even a word ?lol ) But I have watched a couple of your videos now and the guidance you have given also translates into the normal artworld business .
I love this. As a client, the artists that have stayed in touch with me are the ones I'm fastest to recommend when people ask me for artists too! And I love hearing about their lives and experiences and seeing their businesses grow
There was a meme that showed a women getting tattoo, and talking to the artist about her next tattoo ideas, the artist seems extremely bummed that she's not focused on the current tattoo. I think about this a lot, as someone who plans to get loads of tattoos. I don't want to discourage the artist by making them feel like an endless art production. So there needs to be a balance. The follow up is far less important than the communication, listening, and excitement/joy in the moment.
My artist has never shared a single 1 of my tattoos on their socials. 😂 used to annoy me. But now I'm like ha ha my artwork is so unique noone can copy it now. 😂

I’m an apprentice rn and I’ll definitely try these tactics out. I always remember really enthusiastic artists after I get tatted by them.
Absolute spot on advice this is what people want ,to feel cared for 👍
