I think that BMW definitely values the opinions and inputs of a semi-professional driver since many M4 GT4's will be driven by drivers with similar skills and racing experience. Having a race car that's approachable for "everyone" must be a key target of the project.

@@scottporter4524 they're obviously very different achievements, but this sort of "grunt work" so to speak isn't the kind of thing your average RUclipsr ever gets to do, even including the very few that do IRL stuff on the side. For lack of a better term, this is "real racing driver" stuff in a very specific way I think.
I think winning competitions is inherently more of an achievement, but this is definitely a step up in race class. It's awesome to see him doing so well too. I hope we get to see a Jimmy Broadbent GT4 season!
Every time the pro drivers set a goal for jimmy saying "that will be impressive" and then Jimmy does it, they go "hmm.. not bad"...I think they were a lot more impressed than they let on to be 🤣🤣 He's coming after their jobs me thinks
I imagine it was a really good experience for BMW to see how the car is for an AM who is unfamiliar with the car and circuit. That sort of data is really important for a car that is going to be shared among PRO/AM drivers. That being said they must have been very impressed with your performance. Awesome result considering the circumstances.

I think a big part why jimmy was also able to get up to speed that fast might be his experience in Sim-Racing. With his Videos about tons of weird hyper, super and Race Cars he has basically trained himself of being as adaptable as possible.

As well as appreciating your success i would just like to mention that it's a credit to modern sim racing games that the dashcam footage is almost indistinguishable from a video game, its honestly mad how good graphics have gotten. If my 12 year old self could see this i would definitely be tucking it up into my waistband.
I seem to recall quite a while ago Jimmy choosing to drive a BMW GT3 in a sim race at a time when no one really wanted to drive it as it wasnt considered competitive. But he remained loyal to his Bimmer and if Im not mistaken BMW took notice. I'd really like to know if Jimmy is now reaping the rewards of that loyalty. As mentioned elsewhere, the GT4 is going to attract a lot of AM drivers and so having one jump in during testing makes sense, but they could have chosen anyone and they chose our Jimmer.
I realised something watching this. I had absolute confidence that you would keep the car on the track and that you would get up to speed quickly, you have demonstrated time and time again that you have the skills. GT4's are the ultimate track day toys. They're so well balanced, most amateurs could learn and become serious drivers in them without too much risk, and loads of safety.
Put a smile on my face when Jimmy called himself an "Amateur racer" at the end and not a "simracer". With 2+ years of him not believing that he was deserving of a real race seat, constantly saying that his isn't a real life racer, it's nice to see him starting to gain that self esteem and confidence in himself...especially cause he's not bad at all (I mean, he won the Praga Championship)! What a thrill it must have been to be part of a proper factory test of the new GT4 BMW. I could tell you were properly chuffed to have the engineers ask for your feedback. But why not? GT4s and GT3s are designed to be welcoming to gentleman drivers. Most, if not all GT4 races are ProAm so your input would be necessary to the cars development. So happy for you Jimmy. You're living your dream and mine.

I just bought a G80 M3 Competition in November. I have an Xdrive but took it to Autocross last month and its a great car with loads of power. I drove in mainly MDM mode which in xdrive allows the back end to rotate more. I may try full DSC off in 4wd next time to see how it does. The G8x platform is great and those S58 engines pull hard. Great video, would love for you to become a BMW M driver!!

Despite Jimmy kind of being hard on himself, I think he actually provided BMW with some great data here. For him to get into that car and get up to speed so quickly is a good sign. A pro will drive the wheels off anything they sit in, but jimmy wasn't far off, all things considered! They must have left there feeling good about their car.

funny to hear about you trying to get used to GT, and not driving it like a downforce car. I had to start doing the opposite about 2 weeks ago when i drove F4 for the first time, and was trying to control the car like a GT or Ferrari Challenge car
