Finally, a TC Compressor and with great sounding design ideas too! I've always loved the sound of classic dark sounding squished tones of the the classic dynacomp, cs2 and cs3 designs but i also need and love the sound of full bodied transparent sounding compressors. The idea of the side chaining function of the Blend knob and multiband compressor is simply brilliant. Congrats TC, i've been waiting for this from you guys.
TC electronic is quickly becoming my favorite guitar pedal brand ever. You guys always seem to strike a balance between technology and value that I'm not seeing when I'm doing lots of research on new toys for my pedal board. I'll probably be picking this up by the end of the week thank you so much for the video
You guys are doings something really great with these new pedals (I have Flashback and Hall of Fame). Giving advanced players what they need to customize while still providing great sounds out of the box. Most pedals these days sell gimmicks or cheap versions of classic sounds. You guys keep giving powerful, highly customizable pedals at a great price. I don't like sticking to one brand, but my TC section just keeps growing. Some might not like the 'flat' character these can sometimes have, but this studio influence is invaluable when adding high-character pedals like custom tubescreamer circuits. The last thing a guy with the 'perfect' tone needs is some comp or reverb coloring his tone wrong - some may see this as a disadvantage, I think its awesome. I can run my curated OD line through your effects without worry. Thanks for giving players this kind of customization without making us choose between critical features. The ONE thing I can complain about is the lack of a tap tempo foot control for the Flashback (small one) - makes it hard to use live or with strict tempos (string thing is too iffy). I'm pretty excited to try this comp out, as an audio engineer everything else is just too basic. Its not that its bad, its just that I'm very particular having worked with pro comps for so long. Most comp pedals I've tried (even Xotics) are very 'unmusical'. Heres to hoping this is the gem I've been looking for!!!
Seriously... you wanna make me keep buying your stuff! :)))) You guys are awesome! So proud of you. To me you are creating the most cutting-edge pedals. Thank you.
Last week i finally got mine! Wauw TC, i'm blown away....AGAIN! Such a versital, simpel and great sounding compression(s). Also i found this crazy tonehack: guitar into viscous vibe in 1, out 1 into hypergravity, out hypergravity into in 2 visvous vibe and than out 2 into amp. Now i can control and squeeze the amount of frequentie sweeps that is feeding back into the pedal. Set the hypergravity loud to get some extravaganza overtones and out of space wobling lows. Set it less loud and you get the normal vibe with just a hint of 'extra' modulation or leslie like overtones. Short: TC thanks for all the pedal goodness. I couldn't be happier with pedals. Keep going! Next up: Arena reverb ;)
I'll say this about this pedal and its important so LISTEN UP. So when i got mine a week ago, straight out of the box i plugged it in (Les Paul through Blackstar Ht-40), and it sounded fine. But I wasnt blown away. I tweeked alot and it stayed just alright but didnt get me excited. THEN I went into the toneprint software. Boy did that make a difference! What you got to do is run it through your amp and you can hear all of the adjustments you make on the software and dial something perfect. I realized with this thing you can find exactly what your looking for, just use the toneprint software and mess with that. Thats the secret with this pedal!
Hi! Dear TC Electronic, can you do a demo of this pedal with bass guitar? And also, description says that this is a multiband compressor. so how many bands exactly this pedal has? Sorry for possible mistakes, english isn't my native language. Thanks!
Fantastic compressor i bought it yesterday, you did a great work, multiband and vintage setting is useful in some situation, but i set the strato setting on the toneprint and now, with a little tweak on some value, i found the definite compression for my stratocaster! Not too intrusive but you can clearly ear the difference when is on, exactly as i like! :-)
+Fabio Battistelli thank you so much for the klind words, man. We're so stoked you like it :) We've actually made a TonePrint that's designed with Stratocasters in mind, so you could try and load that one into the pedal and see if it works even better than the tone you've dialed in now. It's called StratoComp :)
I have a Hypergravity mini and love it. Question which of the toneprints for the mini more closely model a limiting amplifier/studio quality compressor?
Just read an article that states a compressor does NOT make low sounds louder they just seem louder as the highs are cut back therefore quieter tones are closer in level to louder tones. Just interesting because I've been playing for 35 years (and 1 week) and have believed this since the beginning and mentioned it because he states it at the beginning of the video.
OK, I'm buying one! Your effects are amazing! I could be wrong but this pedal just might help me come close to that Harvey Mandel tone. God, I hope he is on Toneprint! Please, please, please!!
How come when the guy is playing guitar there is a Hendrix poster in the back ground, but when the dude is speaking there is a acdc poster? Also I spot a bugera amp, you guys think it's any good?
Hi, is it useful for any guitar style, clean rhythm, soul, classic rock, jazz, solos , funk ? Or just for solos and funk ? Do not know what if I need one....
This pedal is amazing, very costumize and can fit in every music genre. Would be great if i can get Petrucci sign on my HG pedal (DT is coming to Indonesia in August!!).
Hey TC electronic, you’re probably not answering the comments anymore, but I’ll try anyway: is it normal that if the level knob on the hypergravity is set below 11 o’ clock it cuts the volume off completely?
I am just about drooling at the prospect of using this for guitar, bass, and Chapman Stick: does this have a USB port for TonePrints? My bass uses a piezo pickup.
What are you using for the ambient pad sounds at 2:05 and 3:00? Sounds like a wet reverb with an octave up like a shimmer. Am wondering if the Sub n Up plus Hall of Fame will get there, or is this something else? A toneprint perhaps?
Hi Mark. It's likely it was done using the combination that you described. However now, you can use the Shimmer on Hall of Fame 2 :-) www.tcelectronic.com/hall-of-fame-2-reverb/
+Benjamin Barnes yes. It's a new built-in feature. It changes the decor in your room to suit your current musical mood. Pretty neat, huh? ;) Jokes aside. The video with Tore and Kasper was filmed on different dates, and we happened to change the poster from Hendrix to AC/DC. Kudos for noticing! :)
I'm very excited that I got my hypergravity comp from long&mcquade. what frustrates me is when I'm about to test the pedal it is completely not working (the lights aren't turning on, no signal or sound coming out). I never thought that tc electronic will fail to their quality control of their products. this is not my first tc electronic pedal however, this is the first time that I experience problems with your product. hope to resolve this problem and I will be returning the product as well.
Sorry to hear about this, Edward. No matter how good of a quality control you have, you can't stop a couple of sour apples passing through. It happens to everybody. That being said, we're of course extremely sorry about this. You should be able to get it exchanged for a new one at Long & McQuade :)
+Jaik Cooper you can boost lows, mids and highs, so you have all the tone control you could ever want in the editor. And yes, you can also boost the overall volume :)
+Ryan Barsby - Yes it does, but if you want a multiband compressor tuned specifically for bass straight out of the box, then I recommend you check out our new SpectraComp Bass Compressor :) www.tcelectronic.com/spectracomp-bass-compressor/
Looks really amazing and it may be one of the top ones I grab despite how little I use compressors live (except for Acoustic gtr)....But my only one gripe and it's not a requirement, but I wish all compressors had Gain reduction readouts/meters or LEDs like the Empress compressor has or every studio compressor has. It would've won with that.
+Marshal Dickerson Not affiliated with TC myself But I feel ya ,Like Keeleys New $300 rack space in a Pedal...Some thing I have too remind my self Like Tore says, This Pedal is a True descendant of the TC 6000system Used in more Recording final Mixes Including Movies (that we have heard but didn't realize) TC is ahead of the Game in Compression . I agree, my 15yr + old? inexpensive DBX 266 makes me feel like I'm dialed right in with "over ezy/soft knee light/s... funny cause i didn't need lights at all with that MxR Dyna Comp I gave to my lil sis, replacing it with the Xotic Sp~with no lights either,lol.(1 on/off) somethings Nagging at me in good way about this tho...Freeze the video @ 0:25sec's & you don't see much, until you realize those aren't Opamp's but Strait up micro chips & big 1 the main i believe... Correct me Tore or TC, obvious would be 5332 or 4558... (wonder if TC have "ever" used 14th century tech, lol...i couldn't tell ya)
+Rick Johnson Just checked wednesday 9/23 8:30am pacific , Musicians friend nor Sweet-waters searches list it yet......Im Leaning towards that Comp now a Mere $129
Hi there. Not better than the SpectraComp - the algorithm is the same - but the the Hyper Gravity is undoubtedly a lot more tweakable. At least on the pedal itself. In the Editor, you can tweak a TonePrint to the same degree. In short, SpectraComp: plug n play, one knob, simple. Hyper Gravity: more options/tweakability. Soundwise - both the same/awesome! I hope this helps :-)
+Chris del Math it's simply multiple layers of looped lead lines drenched in reverb and delay from our Hall of Fame and Flashback Delay that creates the shimmering pad :)
Hi Peter. Absolutely. If you want an "all-in-one" algorithm, though, maybe the BodyRez could also be interesting for you? :-) www.tcelectronic.com/bodyrez/
+rockstop24 yes. With that being said, the preset tones in the pedal was developed with guitar in mind, but they do sound great on bass as well. And with the TonePrint Editor, you can always make your very own compression tone that suits your bass to a tee!
+rockstop24 Yes Sir!...and see if Celeb Bass Players Tone Print that too. With That in Mind I could see "Gravity Bass" Pedal down the road. Cause You know the Pro's will be wondering what to do And TC as of Late doing Variations of any New Offerings, Besides they're a Year or so ahead of us with their next Idea ... Matter a Fact some of the Big Dog Producers in LA Say Great Things About the MXR M87 BASS Comp Pedal $189~ get This > Used For Guitar ! mentioned only as the Reverse of what you asked... I would like to see 1more Knob or 2more mini toggle's Horizontally... 0r maybe 2 more LED's whatever ... just cause a comp can be special...BUT~ $129price creeps upward a bit. they'll be tweeking for one year at least, but in the beginning you have to make a decision & sell "something" or it will spend its life in the lab forever upgraded & no feedback
+w1third You typically want to compress your sound before it hits other effects and gain stages. So we recommend you place your compressor as one of the first pedals in your chain in front of the amp.
A known issue that some are having with this pedal! Google it. If you turn the Sustain knob past 11:00 o clock position the hum and buzz renders the pedal useless. If you want that squishy tone, forget it, as you can only achieve that with the Sustain knob beyond 12 o clock. Tried different power supplies, 9 volt, plugged into pedal chain, straight to amp etc. Are you guys looking into this? Offering refunds? I bought mine online brand new but not sure if it's covered in warranty as it was sent from another country. I have contacted customer service and see if they will do anything to help me or acknowledge the problem. Pretty, pretty, pretty pissed....
Hi guys, i am considering getting one of this. But i have a few legit questions: 1) Does the Hypergravity get noisy when the "sustain" knob is turn up? 2) Does it play well with other pedals (eg: Distortion, Fuzz, Wah)? 3) Would the tone of the Hypergravity, sound "digital"? Thank you! : )
Can anyone tell how much latency the compressor creates in the multiband mode? For delay or reverb in a parallel chain this is not so important but for a EQ and a compressor this is very important.
+Alessandro Mazzoni (Bass) of course not. It works great on bass. The fact that we develop our own bass amps should indicate that we think that bass rocks! :)
Hello, I have a problem with my New TC Hypergravity-When I turn up knob LEVEL, from O values to11 o’clock and I dont hear any signal( with knob blend turned on min or max value). At the time I turn LEVEL knob In one third ( on 11 o’clock) immediately I Heard very loud sigal. I read on the forum about latency in this pedal, but this is not exactly this type problem. I have hall of fame, bodyrez , m one XL and flashback, and I dont meet similar problem. I want to use Hypergravity with my acoustic instruments with very good preamps l.r. baggs, maybe You recommend to me, any of set up for this type instr.or in the future do TONE PRINT. My pedal works in latest soft. Thanks. Lukas
Wow I have exactly the same problem with my Hypergravity. I bought it second hand and thought it was defective. TC Electronics is this supposed to happen or are our pedals broken?!
In toneprint mode it is not true bypass at all when pedal is off!!!!!!! And when you turn the knobs the changes aren't immediate, there's something like 1 second of latency. And overall it feels so digital under your fingers
I didn't know about the dipswitches, thanks a lot, I'll check that out and let you know. What about the latency when turning the knobs? is that normal?
Finally, a TC Compressor and with great sounding design ideas too! Blend knob as well wow! I'm sold! Already have a Hall of Fame and Flashback. Looks like my whole board will be TC Electronic!
That’s exactly the trip I’m on right now. lol
It's about time you guys made a compressor! I use the SP Compressor and for sure I'm going to get this one!!!
+Pablo Colon That's great to hear :)
I've had this pedal for several months now. This and the Spark mini are my always on pedals!

mine arrives tomorrow, can't wait to get to grips with it!
This is awesome glad there's a compressor now
All I need now is a TC noise gate pedal and by board will be 100% TC!!!
+lioneye66SID you're in luck!
sweet! ;) just the right time when i want to add compressor to my board!
sounds fantastic!
+Krishna Yudistira thank you :)
Perfect way to sell me on the pedal. Clean tones and country licks from an ASAT Classic. I've added this to the wish list.
Happy you like it :)
Bought one tonight, great tone shaping tool sound great! I tried the boss CS before choosing this and wasn't impressed.

GREAT JOB!!!!! congratulations i need one¡¡ cheers from colombia
+Bredman Marin thanks, man :)
you want to buy all your pedals right? xD probably my fav pedal brand :)
Yep I'm convinced. I need this!
How come when the guy is playing guitar there is a Hendrix poster in the back ground, but when the dude is speaking there is a acdc poster?
Also I spot a bugera amp, you guys think it's any good?
Let the record reflect that your question has not been answered.

Would you suggest putting this compressor before or after the overdrive pedals?
Thanks! A while back on Facebook you had asked what we want. I said make me a compressor .....Thanks
Is it stereo comp?
I am just about drooling at the prospect of using this for guitar, bass, and Chapman Stick: does this have a USB port for TonePrints? My bass uses a piezo pickup.
+Robstafarian awesome, man! Yes it has a mini-usb port, so you can hook it up to the editor and transfer TonePrints.
love that Fingerstyle Blues playing from Anders Lampe.
+vanielik we do too :)
What are you using for the ambient pad sounds at 2:05 and 3:00? Sounds like a wet reverb with an octave up like a shimmer. Am wondering if the Sub n Up plus Hall of Fame will get there, or is this something else? A toneprint perhaps?

Hey guys! Do you think you'll ever create some Spectra comp-like tone prints for this pedal?
Wish you all the best ;-)
+David Caraccio - DavidSinRocks the top mode on the pedal is named Spectra. So this is SpectraComp in a pedal :)
Hey Tore. How would this compare to the likes of an MXR Dyna Comp?
I LOVE TC Electronic!!!
how does it affect a wah-wah pedal? Who switches Hypergravity off? Who blends & how... cheers
Is it possible to get a kind of jangle box Byrds setting in tone print,,
Just ordered one. Now, the horrifying wait.
Got mine a month ago, love it.Its always on.It totally changes the tone of everything. Its a game changer for shure.
Which Shure? SM57?
Does switching this on also happen to change ur posters?
+Benjamin Barnes yes. It's a new built-in feature. It changes the decor in your room to suit your current musical mood. Pretty neat, huh? ;) Jokes aside. The video with Tore and Kasper was filmed on different dates, and we happened to change the poster from Hendrix to AC/DC. Kudos for noticing! :)
+TC Electronic haha I saw that too. Where did Jimi gooooo??? :)
Would love to hear some demos with an analog drum machine. ;-)
Yes, we need that,!!
I'm very excited that I got my hypergravity comp from long&mcquade. what frustrates me is when I'm about to test the pedal it is completely not working (the lights aren't turning on, no signal or sound coming out). Dammit TC. You're starting to make my wallet cry with all the awesome stuff you keep making. :P
right on!....choice is good....
Wish you could hear these pedals on synths and drums for people who don’t use them for guitars
Yes!!! Finally!! Thank you TC!! :-)
+mikusguitarius Our pleasure :)
Sold
This is a fucking game changer.
+Shayne Warren so happy you like it :)
in the toneprint program is there a treble boost or tone control thing and a boost volume?
+Jaik Cooper you can boost lows, mids and highs, so you have all the tone control you could ever want in the editor. And yes, you can also boost the overall volume :)

what other pedal is used for the shim/organ like sound @2:01 ?
+Chris del Math it's simply multiple layers of looped lead lines drenched in reverb and delay from our Hall of Fame and Flashback Delay that creates the shimmering pad :)
+TC Electronic thanks a lot :-) so I will buy the Hall of fame next :-D
this pedal is cream to my sound
Tore loves the word "painstaking".😂
And prestine :-)
I think I'm gonna get the Cali Compact
+Alex Padilla As long as you're happy, we're happy :)
Does it make sense for acoustic guitars too?
Hi Peter. Absolutely. If you want an "all-in-one" algorithm, though, maybe the BodyRez could also be interesting for you? :-) www.tcelectronic.com/bodyrez/
Wow! Love my current compressor but this temps me...
Fabulous.
work on bass ???

Do you run this in front of the amp? Or in the effects loop?
+w1third You typically want to compress your sound before it hits other effects and gain stages. So we recommend you place your compressor as one of the first pedals in your chain in front of the amp.
can i use with a acoustic guitar?
+Felipe Aquino Yeah if running a guitar cable from your Acoustic Guitar to an Amp ... not MIC to Pedal to PA
+Rick Johnson yeah, thats the ideia, thanks!!
It sounds LAURA!
i want this. when and how much?
+Simon Yung it will be released early October. MAP price is set at $129.99

Hi Mike. I'm sorry to hear about this. Please feel free to write to us on our Facebook page and we'll help you out :-)
Hi guys, i am considering getting one of this. But i have a few legit questions:
1) Does the Hypergravity get noisy when the "sustain" knob is turn up?
2) Does it play well with other pedals (eg: Distortion, Fuzz, Wah)?
3) Would the tone of the Hypergravity, sound "digital"?
Thank you! : )
All compressors do, but the Hyper Gravity is the most noiseless compressor I have tried.
Witch Fender Amp is this?
+Flo Feuz - a Fender Deluxe Reverb :)
Returning mine - when engaged it causes a huge loss in treble frequencies. Awful.
Stop making me buy awesome gear, TC. It makes my wallet sad and I love it though. Damn.
Can anyone tell how much latency the compressor creates in the multiband mode? For delay or reverb in a parallel chain this is not so important but for a EQ and a compressor this is very important.
There's no latency in the sound, if that's what you're thinking about :)
Ok. But the compressor is software and has to be calculated.
is this only for guitar? TC do you hate bass player?:(
+Alessandro Mazzoni (Bass) of course not. It works great on bass. The fact that we develop our own bass amps should indicate that we think that bass rocks! :)
truth has been spoken, thanks dude
Hello, I have a problem with my New TC Hypergravity-When I
turn up knob LEVEL, from O values to11 o’clock and I dont hear any signal( with
knob blend turned on min or max value). At the time I turn LEVEL knob In one
third ( on 11 o’clock) immediately I Heard very loud sigal. I read on the forum
about latency in this pedal, but this is not exactly this type problem. I have
hall of fame, bodyrez , m one XL and flashback, and I dont meet similar
problem. I want to use Hypergravity with my acoustic instruments with very good preamps l.r. baggs,
maybe You recommend to me, any of set up for this type instr.or in the future
do TONE PRINT. My pedal works in latest soft. Thanks. Lukas
Wow I have exactly the same problem with my Hypergravity. I bought it second hand and thought it was defective. TC Electronics is this supposed to happen or are our pedals broken?!
Better than a Keeley?
>quantum
Is that a buzz word? How does it apply to this device?
I wish there was a Bass HyperGravity Pedal!!
+GeoAl09 - It's called SpectraComp Bass Compressor :) www.tcelectronic.com/spectracomp-bass-compressor/
Er I should say a version with these same 4 knobs on it but tailored for bass, rather than a single knob spectra comp.
Availability in North America please?
+Kozmo260 early october :)
+TC Electronic I picked one up. Very nice compressor and a super value!
Kozmo260 happy you like it :)
In toneprint mode it is not true bypass at all when pedal is off!!!!!!! And when you turn the knobs the changes aren't immediate, there's something like 1 second of latency. And overall it feels so digital under your fingers
Hi Carlo. Please check that you have it in true bypass mode using the dipswitches under the back plate: ruclips.net/video/cPPHrQCs_NA/видео.html 🙂
I didn't know about the dipswitches, thanks a lot, I'll check that out and let you know. What about the latency when turning the knobs? is that normal?
Thanks a lot, that finally solved my problem. I was a bit upset because of this unpleasent situatiin. The dipswitches weren't on true bypass mode :)
now all I need is a TonePrint App for Windows Phone & I'm good to go..
Bro you sound/remind me of a young jens larsen!!!
no longer stocking at Thomann... usually not a good sign
where is my guitar amp tc? wheeeeeeeere?
shut up and take my money!
