hey everybody! it's me janet. :D thank you so much for all your love and support for the original funkanometry. we are so, so, so proud of our company and are so gracious for the heights that it has taken us to. much love to every dancer that was a part of the very first funkanometry originating in oc and la. ask any dancer you know that has been a part of it, and you will bring a smile to their face. thanks so much xtronix for posting up this video! janet langer founder/creator funkanometry
I know this post is hella old.. But, HEY JANET! I miss dancing with you so much!.. Ugh, and thanks for giving me my very FIRST jazzy-type choreography to perform on stage! Ha ❤️❤️❤️
Ohman so THIS is the legendary Funks LA set that I've been hearing about for years. I've alwaysalways wanted to see it and it's just unreal that it's right here on youtube. Mosdef one of the best shows Ive ever seen on a stage. So much respect for this right here. wow, just...wow.
Hey Everybody! Just wanted to thank you yet again for all the wonderful comments you've left for us. We truly appreciate the fact that we are remembered for our hard work, passion and love for what we do. To princex1284, we are still around...just doing different things. :D We are all here in Los Angeles and are very close, always will be. Funkanometry LA is very special to us.
you tell 'em jason! it cracks me up b/c little do these people realize that i am one freakin proud alumni of kaba modern....1996-2000 baby....back when jerseys and tear away pants were the trend everywhere! lol....kaba modern was actually what inspired me to start funkanometry...and cindy minowa (one of the kaba 6 on abdc) was my amazing student back at jimmie defore's in costa mesa! we're all connected! :D
agree with the OP - even 7 years later, this set is still legendary. This piece inspired others and set the bar for where the dance scene is today. It sure inspired me to start dancing back in '04. For those of you who just started getting into the dance scene after ABDC, just know that there was a whole underground dance community before MTV made it mainstream - Anonymous TM Alumni.
Glad I came across this video. I remember being so mad I couldn't make it to this show! But I DID get the DVD and have it STILL!.. Never get tired of watching this set! Next to the Jabbawockeez, this was the best performance of that evening (my opinion only) 😎 Edit: I just remembered that CSSD opened this show with my favorite set of theirs also ❤️.
I know a few of the songs are Prince - Coma, Pimp, and Circumstance Madonna - Human Nature remix Crooklyn Clan - where the ladies at Crystal Kay - Girl's Night Can I get some help with the instrumental opener and guy's piece?
this is 04, half the people you saw on TV weren't even on kaba modern yet. these were the alumni that inspired them as well as all other dancers in the hip hop community. saddens me that this is perception of the community that is popular now that ABDC has hit TV. btw, and not every dance team out there is a 'threat' to kaba. its fine u're a supporter, but this team has nothing to do with the kaba modern we kno on tv.
my favorite set. EVER
This is the dream team right here!! The people that I look up to. I'm so happy to see this video again.
