The game Sui-chan was talking about vs Mexico where they were down by 1 run bottom of the 9th inning, Ohtani hitting that insane double to get on base, Yoshida getting on base then getting subbed in with a pinch runner, then Murakami with the hit to send both Ohtani and the pinch runner home was quite literally an anime ending. And that was just the semi-finals. The Finals vs USA, where Japan was up 1 run bottom of the 9th, Ohtani pitching against Mike Trout (his best teammate in Angels and one of the greatest hitters of all time) and striking him out was a storybook finish. An anime/manga writing that stuff would have people claim it's unrealistic but it happening twice in the world cup of Baseball is insane.
I actually tear up watching Ohtani and Trout facing up. They had been thus far playing “meaningless” baseball, excelling everyday. Finally they played in a final for something that matters, but only one of the gets to go home the hero. Baseball just renders fictions unnecessary.

Plus, with the venue being the DODGERS STADIUM is sure to have a whole bunch of eyes on the game. Hololive and Cover probably want to make a substantial first impression on…well, for lack of a better term, a mostly normie audience that probably has no idea what the heck a Hololive even is. And what better first impression than to bring out some of their hardest-hitting talents? The musical powerhouse that is Suisei, the record-breaking Pekora, and, of course, the highest subscribed VTuber in the world: Gura. So that’s why I feel those three in particular were chosen. They want to make a strong first impression to a western audience not familiar with them. …Of course, all of them being blue may have also helped.

With the new LA office opening in june, this collab will probably mark the official grand opening of that office (not store, just an office. I'm still trying to parse Hololive partnering up with the Dodgers. It makes sense, but it also doesn't.
I wonder if Lamy is any more baseball-savy than Sui-chan. The only Holomems that jump out to me as being baseball-savy are Shuba and Ko'one.

Nijisanji isn’t actually collabing with the NBA, they’re collabing with Rakuten who has the copyright for NBA merch in Japan. So at most some corporate dude at NBA HQ got an email like “hey, we want to make some merch w/ Nijisanji, is that cool?” And the dude was like “ok 👌🏾”. They’re not going to be featured by any of the teams or organizations.

I know Yagoo has set up collabs with the Japanese baseball teams before. I know he has thrown the opening pitch at one game in Japan. With the new LA office opening in june, this collab will probably mark the official grand opening of that office (not store, just an office. It's also being held during AX so there will be lots of Holo fans going to see the game just because

Peko, Gura, and Sui all have the image of Blue & White, but it also doesn't hurt that they are three of the most popular vtubers on the planet right now and they want to have as many eyes on this as possible with it being their first major collaboration with a Western corporation (MLB/Dodgers). Who better to have than: the most subscribed to Vtuber ever (Gura), the most watched female streamer of 2023 (Peko), and their most popular idol talent (Sui). Honestly if Ohtani hadn't gone to the Dodgers they probably would have collabed with the Angels instead but Gura was pretty much a lock I think no matter what.

I assume that Suisei was selected because she's one of the very best singers among the Holomems and one of the highlights of the thing is supposed to be singing "Take Me Out the the Ball Game." Pekora was a bit of a mystery; I assume that she was selected because blue is her primary color.
That and Pekora by far is the most popular in Hololive.
Suisei is simply the hottest most popular Holo member at the moment. She sells the most Merch so her face is out there among the public more than any other member. Her song Bibbidiba went super Viral and there is a ton of shorts on YT and Tiktok featuring her dance. It's a no brainer to have her there.
