Have fun. I suggest if they're wooden skis like I used reinforce the tips after a couple of seasons mine split, the rest is as solid as the day it was made.
There wasn't any measurements. I can totally build this. What dimensions are your sled? Approximately how many boardfeet do I need? Did you rip those into 1x2's? Thanks
I built it relitive to the skis so there really was no measuring done, just what looked proportional. It's all out of maple hardwood flooring that I ripped the tongue and groove off and then in half and thicknessed to get the bottom flat.
I recognized the flooring as you were repurposing it. Do you know approximately how many flooring boards you ripped in half, and how long they were? Just trying to get an estimate to buy some wood to build one of my own.
I'm thinking 7 or 8 boards around 4' long would suffice. I'd recommend when you attach near the ski tips go a couple of inches down from the tip. Recently the tip cracked at the screw for me, the paracord is holding fine and sled still functions as it should but it's aggravating.
I predrilled a slight bit over-sized the screws in the areas that needed to flex so they act more like a tendon and the paracord takes most of the load. It's been holding up well. The kids are still using it.
Thank you for showing this. Simple, easy design with things we have laying around already. I appreciate it.
Fantastic man!
The absolute best video I've found.
Thanks for making this!
Well done! That's a great looking sled

Dont all the screws make it fragile..
