H/H match update: ... ~~~Today's action: Hearing the question, I suspected our two-time champion might be in trouble. He needs to match four of the five remaining celebs (he'd already matched Marcia) just to tie... Not even close. He leaves after his two victories and with $5,900 in his prize account. *Today's (first) audience match question: "________Da"* (My thoughts: Ta, Do, Zippity Do) The celebs: Richard (Do), Charles (Da), Brett (La-De) The choice: Do The answers: La-De-, Do-, Da- (The panel had all the answers today!) Our new champ starts off with $250. After yesterday's audience match fail, that sounds pretty good. I'm betting she'll pick Richard... This makes King Richard's 21st consecutive H/H attempt. He's matched 2 of the last 5 times, and is sticking very close to Brett when it comes to overall success rate in the head-to-head questions. Stats: Richard has matched 134 of his 308 most recent attempts (43.5%), 73 of his last 168 attempts (43.5%), 54 of his last 124 attempts (43.5%), 26 of his past 60 attempts (43.3%), and 12 of his past 33 attempts (36.4%). His overall success rate is *42.3%* and this is his 786th attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Richard has matched 332 of his 785 attempts (42.3%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Marcia has answered one H/H question without matching. Neither Bill Anderson nor Dr. Joyce Brothers has yet answered a H/H question. *Today's H/H question: "Bunch of________"* (Baloney? Sour grapes? Grapes? Stuff? Bananas? Flowers? Nothing stands out. What am I missing? I'll go with "Flowers.") Richard decides quickly and without turning to his neighbors for inspiration or suggestion. His answer seems to be at least 5 letters long. Okay. Our champion says she was thinking of Bugs Bunny and so decides to go with "carrots." The audience sounds disappointed. Richard wrote another of my suggestions: "Grapes" No H/H match this time. (And Richard falls back behind Brett yet again.) ~~~~~ Our new champ didn't last long. She's defeated after her single win. Her earnings totaled $350. *Today's (second) audience match question: "Outside________"* (My thoughts: In, and play, ???) - I can't think of anything! The celebs: Charles via Brett (Plumbing), Richard ("John, you know, toilet"), Brett (the foul line) - C'mon! Why call on a celeb who's already given their answer away! (And also, now I don't feel so bad, because those are three lousy answers, and from our regulars, no less!) The choice: "Plumbing, I guess..." (She's clearly as much at a loss as the panel is, and as I am too.) The answers: Looking in, Toilet (huh!), And Inside Another fail, hot on the heels of the one "yesterday." No second H/H question today. ~~~Well, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) My thought would have been a charity week or tournament of maybe one or two weeks (with all the winnings going to charities), but with a twist: They could get six of the longer-running champions (ones who were funny and personable) to be on the PANEL (the show would pay them a flat fee of course, or maybe they would earn a certain $ amount every time they matched) and the STARS could compete as CONTESTANTS! Each star would announce the charity he/she was playing for at the start of each game when Gene does the opening schmooze. I think the first two to play should be Brett vs Charles! Richard, Betty, Fannie, others could all be on deck to challenge the winner of the first match-up. They could award something like $100 for each regular-game match and tweak the other amounts somewhat so that each charity got something worthwhile. (Also, I was thinking that maybe they could put Johnny O in Richard's #5 seat for the event, and have the stars rotate through the announcing job as well, when they're not contestants.) With less antics from the civilian panelists, the games would likely go a little faster which would be good, since then more money would go to charities and more different stars would get a shot at playing the game as a contestant! Wouldn't that have been fun?
She gets some right, then again the 6th seat is more of a give a goofy, or outrageous kind of answer. Can't really depend on whomever is sitting there. But Marcia was pretty funny.
