Man. as a dealer myself it really blows my mind with the taste of collectors... Look, I have had cards I figured I would flip in a week - at most - that I'm still holding 3 months later - but then I will list some random card I figured I would get $5 bucks for and it sells for $30 - and it's not because of my ignorance of cards or the hobby - it's just because it's the way the hobby works..... I mean as a dealer I think there is a buyer out there for every card - and I know what's popular - it's just weird..... Look, my philosophy is to price a card for what a collector will pay for it - if I get 1 bid or none - eventually that collector will find the card and pay what I want for it - but then there are these strange random cards I will list I would sell for a buck but they go for $20 .... And maybe they sell for $20 because no one lists the card... Anyway, the adventures of being a card dealer can be very interesting..... One of the most annoying parts of being a dealer is when you run into collectors that want "full price" for a card - and then I have to explain to them all of the resources, time, supplies etc that go into flipping a card - and I have to explain to them that "I'm not buying your cards for my collection, I'm buying them to make a few bucks" - and most than not understand my position but sometimes you run across a seller that refuses to understand that, and they think their childhood memories have some sort of monetary value - then they get upset and they just don't understand your position and unfortunately in those situations you have to walk away ... But yea, I've been flipping cards since I was 10 back in 1990 - I was doing card shows every weekend and I even organized and put on a couple of professional card shows myself when I was 12/13 selling tables .... I have a lot of card stories - I should really start a youtube channel myself talking about by never ending adventures in the hobby, lol....

Jasson Dominguez hasn’t been that bad this year but there was absolutely no way he was ever going to live up to the hype. In order to be the type of player that his 1st Bowman Autos were selling for at launch he would have to be beyond all-star level, like the second coming of Babe Ruth.
I truly feel for the first gentleman in this video. I would do anything for my child as well, and that includes selling any of my collectibles to help him in his life endeavors. Thank God he is healthy, but we all know that you never know what life has in store for us. In the second part of the video, I see this all the time also, with the fact that people place a personal value on their collectibles, not realizing that the market determines values, not family history. He was thinking maybe $10,000 based on possible graded values, not realizing that a graded 10 might be worth $4,500, but in raw condition (and most likely no where near a 10) the card has a value of about $20. He could have done himself a big favor by asking Ty to take it all for $1,500.

They were baseball from 1953 to 1971 and I asked him how much he wanted for them, he needed the money and he said $30.00 NO LIE I could'nt get the money out fast enough.
@@GodofDisco you set up at a show, you should know what your selling your cards for. From all the shows I have done over the years people won't buy unless cards are priced, I asked and he gave me the price
You dodged a bullet by passing on this collection in my opinion. The Mantle was the “big card” and it would have been a lot of listing work for little profit. I’m glad you didn’t offer more. Unless someone comes to buy it that is new and has no real idea of the worth, he’ll be holding that stuff for a long time.
Did I see a group of 89 Topps Heads Up test issue cards with the suction cups? Some of them I believe are worth a decent amount of money. At least my Boggs goes for around $100, more if graded.

Yes!! Go message him, he’ll take care of you!
I live in Northern ILL in 2018 I was set up at a card show in Rockford I was out walking the floor to see what was out for sale when I stopped at a young mans table and looked at a 3200 count box and as I was looking he said he had another box in his car, he brought it in, with both boxs he had about 5,000 cards all togeather. They were baseball from 1953 to 1971 and I asked him how much he wanted for them, he needed the money and he said $30.00 NO LIE I could'nt get the money out fast enough.
....should've offered him more
@@GodofDisco you set up at a show, you should know what your selling your cards for. From all the shows I have done over the years people won't buy unless cards are priced, I asked and he gave me the price
That intro 😂😂 I don’t miss a show!
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, you might be right. Thanks!
Did I see a group of 89 Topps Heads Up test issue cards with the suction cups? Some of them I believe are worth a decent amount of money. At least my Boggs goes for around $100, more if graded.
How much do you spend in gas..!
Ha! A whole lot!!
