They’re both magnificent! That quarts movement in the Tuna isn't like a normal quartz movement. If I remember correctly it took Seiko like 7 years to engineer that watch for saturation diving. And they pushed it's depth rating three times the watch's certified depth. It's a beast! That duo covers everything from serious survivor-man to a board meeting with a suit. Wow!
After watching this video i had to have the SBDC041 transocean in black and rose gold, absolutely stunning watch. I have 3 blue dials including the save the ocean Samurai so the black dial seemed more appropiate for my collection. The blue dial is stunning.
Lovely piece McMahon congrats. On a sidenote when you brought the sumo into view it can still hold its own against its more expensive brethren which reinforces its 'bang for buck' reputation.
Top end. The bezel is smooth as butter, that's one of my favorite features. Also have to say, it's got a nice sweep on the seconds hand--dunno why, but I enjoy this type of hand compared with one second interval ticking on other watches.
Congrats, Jeffrey. I am glad finally someone did justice to this watch. Yes, let's call the 6R ''Bulletproof.' I have the same thoughts. That's a high-quality ceramic bezel. Look at the shine. Same as those found in the Grand Seiko. I just put on mine and feel a lot better. Thanks!
Thank you for the full review and giving it the McMahon twist to it like no one else does. Could be a one watch collection item. Boy the Tuna looks like it is ready to do anything. Put that on and I bet you just want to do out and build something or climb something.
Lovely watch McMahon; wear it in good health! My only gripes with the Transocean: 1) At $1000+, I feel like Seiko could put in something a little different than the 6R15. 2) What’s the point of having drilled lugs on an integrated bracelet? All else considered, the transocean looks like a winner.
Something hit me now about that sumo when you flash it in front of the camera that made me like it now more that ever....and I did eyed it many many times in the last couple of years...but never seriously considered it....
A lot nicer than I thought they were .. never really gave the transocean much thought (always seemd to be an oddball diver to me)... but in a way I’m kinda see where your coming from now with this 👍🏻 .. especially that dial colour 😍 .
You've got the Transocean? What a beauty. If I were you, I'd get a beater watch so you can wear your Transocean. Get an inexpensive Seiko solar diver or Citizen solar diver and you can protect that Transocean. Bests.
Nope. Not the Blue Sumo. I recently sold my blue Sumo after the 4th rebuy of a Sumo. I love the Sumo but if after 4 times I don’t bond with it, what am I going to do... be a crazy guy and buy it 5,6,7 times???
Next time please McMahon, please clean the crystal before recording the video. I was screaming and yelling at the screen hoping you would clean the crystal!! What a watch and what a fantastic collection you are putting together. Very very nice.
Very interesting. On-line photos don't show the differentiation between the bezel insert and the bezel itself, so I always thought the entire bezel was one solid piece of ceramic. Thanks to your Canon DSLR's resolution, I can see what appears to be a ceramic insert and maybe an anodized or PVD stainless steel bezel? I'll join the chorus of those disappointed with the use of the 21,600 BPH 6R15 at this price point. Seiko appears to be very reluctant to bring the 28,800 BPH 8L35 from the MM300 down to this level and they suffer in comparison to Sellita SW-200 (Christopher Ward, Oris) or ETA 2824-2 (Tissot, Hamilton) movements. But I'm pleased at the ceramic bezel, the sapphire (finally Seiko -- sheesh!) crystal, a decent bracelet with milled clasp components, and the sunburst gradient dial. 44mm is perfect for my wrist and looks good on yours.
6R15 movements run a little slow for me, losing 2 minutes or 1 minute a week. I sold the Transocean. I prefer the proportions of the SBDC053 blue dial.
i was wondering if you could try something for a moment to cure my curiousity. you have a few strapcode bracelets sitting around for the sumo and the tunas? can you see if the clasp would fit onto this watch. would be nice to know it is possible to battle the desk rash with no optional bracelets available
You can't switch bracelet on this. Seiko made an unusual connection. I don't care because I love the stock bracelet. I wore this watch all day yesterday, and the blue dial sang on my wrist the whole time. Fantastic watch.
Good review, just wondering does the SBDC 051 or SBDC 053 provide the biggest rivalry to the Transocean? I actually prefer the SBDC 053 and that’s what stopped me getting the Transocean
You can't lose with either. I will say the darker blue dial, which shines like a jewel, on the Seiko gets more of a strong emotion from me; however, the CFTD plays bigger with that big crown. I wish I still had both, but honestly I don't have time to wear all the watches I own.
Thanks for the quick reply. I am honestly looking for a slightly dressier blue dial diver to go between my SKX007 and Marinemaster 300M. Thought about the Sumo as well, but laying out all my options. Really can't go wrong with Seiko (or Citizen) when compared to Swiss brands in this price range.
I thought ... what a perfect 2 watch collection and then you brought that Sumo in! With those three beauties you have it all covered. Sell everything else, enjoy more from less and with all the extra cash spend 1 month obsesssing on what that fourth and final watch should be. Imagine the serenity of only having three watches married with the torture of endless possibilities for that missing piece. Think about that man! Keep it strong brother!
Ugh. I'm intrigued but I can't watch this at work I'm stuck 2 more hours to watch it. Hahaha I've kind of wanted this watch and I recall a vid you did talking about watches being a drug and you being a pusher. At least I remember it that way. Can't wait to watch it
Congratulations on your latest acquisition, I knew you would love this watch, fit and finish is exquisite. Movement incredibly reliable. Love mine.
I really enjoyed this video man. Everytime you show the 033 on endmill, it makes me really want one. Big time. Transocean looks very sharp here too

Oh, ok well forget it then! LOL!!!

I just sprang for the transocen. Purple got me
stunning watch jeff. congratulations on your upcoming 3,000 subs. cheers
That's a good looking watch. The integrated bracelet is a disadvantage for those who like changing straps or bracelets.
Great video, i gotta find this watch. This looks gorgeous.
Thats it, im going to hunt & find this watch. It is gorgeous. Im sold. Great review
This is a beautiful watch, wear it with pride.
great review, ill be looking into purchasing this one tomorrow, thanks for walking us through this watch, its definitely a one in a million,,
Jeff really nice timepiece.
Enjoy wearing it.
The blue really stand out, impressive.
😉

Ah Man Gorgeous Piece!!

Shawn B I wondered about that myself. Mybe to replace just the lower part if you damage it? Maybe to be reminded that you can't change the band🤔
Integrated beacelet kills it for me. Nice watch though. Maybe if it had a 8l35 movement? Than it.would probably sell for a little more.
Very nice watch. Looks like a dress/diver. You can wear that watch anywhere.
Something hit me now about that sumo when you flash it in front of the camera that made me like it now more that ever....and I did eyed it many many times in the last couple of years...but never seriously considered it....
Lot of refined watch for the money.
Great review my friend, enjoy that amazing timepiece!
A lot nicer than I thought they were .. never really gave the transocean much thought (always seemd to be an oddball diver to me)... but in a way I’m kinda see where your coming from now with this 👍🏻 .. especially that dial colour 😍 .
Looks great good buy. Reminds me of the Samurai.
OK McMahon you inspired me. I sold my Damasko and bought a blue Seiko. It arrives Monday.
You've got the Transocean? What a beauty. If I were you, I'd get a beater watch so you can wear your Transocean. Get an inexpensive Seiko solar diver or Citizen solar diver and you can protect that Transocean. Bests.
Nope. Not the Transocean.
The blue Sumo? That's good for everyday wear. Or if it's a similarly priced Seiko, you can use it for everyday.
Nope. Not the Blue Sumo. I recently sold my blue Sumo after the 4th rebuy of a Sumo. I love the Sumo but if after 4 times I don’t bond with it, what am I going to do... be a crazy guy and buy it 5,6,7 times???
At 19:52 of this video you will see my new Blue Seiko discussed ruclips.net/video/-rXhA45ni0s/видео.html
Its a beauty!👍
Next time please McMahon, please clean the crystal before recording the video.
I was screaming and yelling at the screen hoping you would clean the crystal!!
What a watch and what a fantastic collection you are putting together. Very very nice.
Good point. Those fingerprints ruined the image. I'll have to be careful on my next state of the collection.
I like the aggressive angles on the lugs and the dial color. Only thing I don't like is the 6R15 movement in such an expensive watch.
chillwill120 , share your opinion!

I like the tuna better

Seiko is the Toyota of watches they even have a Grand Seiko for Lexus lol
Beauty of a watch, sir. Just curious, why picked this as your grail?
The blue dial called me. My two Tunas and my Transocean and my triad of grails.
congratulations! it is indeed Sick (the good sick of course)
How is the watch addiction going? I need to make a video about how I sometimes feel guilty for making videos that feed the addiction.
not so good.. trying to bring down the collection from 10 to 3 pieces is never easy..
What about 4 or 5? Is that doable?
Watch looks good. I was thinking about getting one. What are your feelings after a few months. How's the time keeping per day. Thanks
6R15 movements run a little slow for me, losing 2 minutes or 1 minute a week. I sold the Transocean. I prefer the proportions of the SBDC053 blue dial.

and one of your strapcode clasps wouldnt fit as well?
No, the Seiko is custom built for its stock bracelet. It's discussed here: ruclips.net/video/ABrt9UA5HTA/видео.html

You have to get what you like. They do compete a bit. Go with your preference, of course.
julian pierce i scooped a 053. Totally different case though. Absolutly love it!
Yeah, it's all personal preference. Get the 053. Always get what you really want.
Jeff D it’s a mighty impressive watch 👍🏻
Really on the fence between this and the Citizen Grand Touring Diver.

Better lume and better legibility on the Seiko. Both are stunners.

For what you're describing, it sounds like you might really like the deep blue dial Seiko SRPC25K1 Turtle: ruclips.net/video/XiDXjXcNLZY/видео.html

How do you like the endmill on the tuna? I'm thinking about the pvd for my new Darth tuna. Just curious how the pvd will hold up
I don't trust PVD. I love the Endmill for the Tuna. Perfect complement.
seiko transocean SBDC047
Please don't sell this one!😉
whats the model of the left one
Seiko Tuna SBBN033

This guy reminds me of The Dude ( Lebowski )
I would have gone with a Samurai instead.
