It seems that Hello Fresh would be a perfect option for ppl that are too stressed/busy from work/studies, or for those who recently moved out on their own and have minimal culinary skills.
So the option is to either keep subscribing or later start buying groceries on your own after feeling comfortable with cooking. Not to mention you can keep all their recipes.

As a mostly stay at home father and soon-to-be husband that is the chef of the house, this meal looked so easy to prepare. When you stated that this is a nice option for dinner plans and only having to get the simpler things at the grocery store made me chuckle; I said the same thing to my wife. Also, this seems like something I could have a date night with her and finally show her how to cook, since you said the step by step was great.

We just got a promotional weeks worth of Hello Fresh. We’re on day 1 and the meal was tasty, albeit pretty simple recipe. My big beef is the packaging. It’s a crazy amount of waste. And yes some of it is recyclable, but only 10-20% of what we put at the curb actually gets recycled. So I look at it as all going to the landfill.

I've been trying several boxed meals before and it's been interesting knowing how to cook new food items , fresh vegetables and spices and learning techniques, incredibly low cost and having great ingredients quality so far ! People who think it's expensive come to our place and see how expensive food is getting in rural Canada ... 79$ per week ( HelloFresh) is nothing when we usually spend 450$ per week. I think it's best for people to know that things like your oil and some spices may be items that you require from your own pantry. I haven't tried Hello Fresh but I have noticed that they don't send any oil unless it's special to the recipe for something. Hopefully, the website tells you what you need from your own pantry or maybe the recipe cards do.

Pros: My daughter gets Hello Fresh and she said its DELICIOUS! Shes a very very picky eater and for her to say its that good, i have to take her word for it.
Cons: Its very expensive. To pay 95.00 for 4 meals that i can buy at the grocery store and make myself for ½ the price is a better way, BUT for those who cant seem to make it to the grocery store and can afford it, this is ideal. My daughters also said a lot of her foods went to waste because the fresh items went bad very FAST and she just didnt have the time to prep and cook after working 12 hr day's, so of youre gonna commit to this, make sure you have time to cook or get meals you can freeze or somehow make them last longer. 👍
Overall my daughters rating of the food is 10/10 and that's enuff for me to try this and ill be ordering my 1st box for me and my husband! 😊 Ill give it a try.

Here's the thing. I'm single. When I go to the grocery, I look for vegetables that are not sized for families. Why, because it's a real waste having to throw thing out. But, if I can get small mixes of vegetables that are already preped, I can toss them in a pot with ramen or such. Simple, fast, and not wasteful. Anything that takes more steps than that on a weekday is not happening.

Thank you for not making a 30min long video. It's short and very informative. Spot on!
I am curious about signing up for a family of 4 but I am only given the 3 meal per week option. It doesn't show any more information to know if this is 3 meals a week per month or just for one week. Despite of looking at their very confusing FAQ couldn't find an answer to this. $99 for 3 meals for a family of 4 is quite pricey. However, if it's $99 for 3 meals a week for a month then it's a good deal.

    • @FoodBoxHQ
      @FoodBoxHQ  4 года назад +3

So happy you enjoyed the video :). I noticed so many other meal kit reviews ramble on for 30+ minutes so we try to make these as short and informative as possible!
Hmm, you're right! For a family of 4 you "should" be able to get up to 6 meals per week. I think what's happening is that so many people are signing up for HelloFresh because no one wants to go to the grocery store right now so Hello Fresh may have reduced the amount of meals that can be ordered right now (it should go up).
Also, the more meals you get, the lower the price per meal goes. I believe that with family of 4 at 6 meals per week comes out to around $8 per serving.

you can suspend but normally you pay for every week , every box (because you always get 1 box every week).
You can cancel at any time the week is over (though only until sunday the week before usually, its on their website more info)

I actually loved Hello Fresh at first. The meals were delivered on time, were simple and delicious, not to mention priced reasonably and with straight forward recipes. Then, shipments started to roll in 2-3 days late (pre-COVID) aka they were RUINED. I got no explanation though I tried to contact customer service *many* times. After the 4th missed delivery (actually our Thanksgiving Box) which literally DESTROYED my family’s Thanksgiving last year...I CANCELLED after that. I let them know about all of the issues that their service had caused our family, multiple times and received NO RESPONSE whatsoever. Last year’s Thanksgiving ended up being our last Thanksgiving with our mother. I had ordered their Thanksgiving box to prepare for my husband, aunt and parents. We never received it after MANY attempts to find out the status. We ended up eating frozen meals from our freezer. So THANKS Hello Fresh....for the last holiday memories with our Mom. Thank you for answering all of my emails and correspondence about what you did and how you did NOTHING about it. If anyone subscribes to this service, get ready for POOR customer service and BS deliveries. NOTE: They use Fed
Ex and though I filed MULTIPLE complaints, FedEx continued to leave their FOOD DELIVERIES on our VERY SUNNY PORCH with out knocking or ANY notification of delivery. I notified them and FedEx and it continued to happen.

Leaving a holiday dinner outcome to chance with a delivery service seems like a bad idea. So many things could go wrong. Did Hello Fresh send it on time and the delivery service had issues? Box has Ice in it, was your food spoiled? It's supposed to be a supplement to your regular cooking so if it's a day or two late it shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes peoples expectations for something new are set so high they cant possibly be met. What? I still have to chop my veggies? I still have to feed myself?

I tried this service the last couple weeks. For somebody who is already an avid cook, I find it not as useful and cost effective. Meals are not as healthy as I would like in order to continue to use the service. It leans on the expensive side as I figure it costs around $10-12 dollars per person a meal. However, it made me become more cognizant of portion sizes which is a plus. Taste is not bad but I find most recipes to be too sweet for my taste, making it seem a little to fast food tasting. Over all I would recommend this to somebody who may feel that they are stuck in a rout as to there regularly dishes.
