In my opinion Murdoch's side rods specifically can be excused considering they had to take into account his ten driving wheels. That's one of the core aspects of his entire design, you can't _not_ have them. Having the traditional four wheels that majority of motorized Thomas toys use would look wrong in my opinion. Considering how drastically complicated Murdoch's wheel arrangement is and how simplistic the motorized designs are supposed to be especially at such a small scale, I don't think there's really a proper way they could've implemented functioning siderods.
Maybe sometime you should take a look at the Nylint Thomas line! It came out in 1992, just before the trackmaster and playrail engines were produced, and they were kind of the prototypes for motorized Thomas engines of this style. They only ever made 3 engines, with push a long and mortised versions of each. Thomas, Toby, and Percy, with Annie and clarabell as well as many troublesome trucks and vans. They each came either in a standalone box, or a special case that had tracks the engines could run in when it’s folded out. Thomas and Percy have probably the best looking side rods ever on an old style motorized Thomas compared to the Tomy engines type of side rod, though the Tomy design is much more robust.
We have Normal side rods Edwards side rods Henry and Gordon's TOMY side rods Gordon's Japanese siderods No side rods Murdochs side rods Narrow gauge siderods Belles side rods Emily's side rods 2:40 oh no
For the qua:I dare you to make big boy/just kidding the two questions are Will you make a 98462/and 87546/and second what your favourite engine from America or uk...
Honestly I Give The Engines That Have Pistons The Plarail 2015 Gordon Siderods, It Would Make A Big Difference. seriously even the long siderods bothered me as a kid
I cant be the only one who loves the long siderods
I do too!!! I think they look cool.
Nah I love them
Love them too
They’re great they go into the cylinders
Long live the long rods
Despite the crazy modifications i've done on my Engines' Valve gear, Gordon and Henry's classic long rods will always have a place in my heart.
Oi :)
Mine too
I realized the trackmaster evolution side rods are a tiny bit longer
4:45 well in robot trains kay and alf railhouse sets also using short rods
I thought I was the only one who knew robot trains existed
This is the type of content i imagine in my head
oliver’s siderods are different from edward’s, you can tell since it’s longer (width wise) and shorter height wise
To confirm: Yes oliver's siderods are longer and wont work with edward's sideroads unless u want risk breaking it
i Love Side Rod Look Like Thomas Or Percy
Did I mention that some non thomas plarail locos have a different siderods unique for them???
Yes I know maybe some day I'll also talk about non Thomas plarail trains
You know adding static rods to the engine makes sense they have commentated side rods like Bell and Modock
Fantastic video Not4U, very informative. 👍
this was released on my birthday!
7:10 they could have just re used Oliver’s chassis for Skarloey and Peter Sam
Exactly
Agreed 👍

I would like to see a video on the chuggington Plarail engines because they actually look really good and I have never seen a video on them.
I gave my Molly custom static siderods, which are the long Gordon/Henry siderods but with half of it cut off
Looks way better than no siderods
2:41 I think this Edward is a fake Edward because I know the 2012 Edward has the accurate wheel configuration but with the front wheel up in the air.
Honestly I'd still say the Trackmaster Belle is the better model, even if the siderods don't move. It has a lot more details and feels more accurate.
Your so close to 5,000 subs

I think that the engines with static rods looks weird. I mean
When i first saw Murdoch with his rods, (fun fact) looks like he's driffting. :)
Murdoch kinda had to have static rods because there would have to be XL rods for him
@@Mr_Tato_The_Feline xl rods would be cursed
am i the only one because i actually like the long side rods.
I don't care, long siderods are peak
I wish Plarail can sell some spares in many size and variants.
Didn’t Neville get Dennis’s side rods too?
no it's the wheels that are the same

Well you can take Gordon new roads off and put them on any other catri
And in other words, grass is green, and we'll all die
I just subscribed and now you have 1 extra
