- This is the story of how Mexico’s top law enforcement official - the architect of Mexico’s war on drug cartels - went from federal public security minister to convicted narco trafficker. Let me tell you about it.

The Mob Reporter here with details on Genaro García Luna, who led Mexico’s version of the FBI and then was the federal Secretary of Public Security under President Felipe Calderón. While he was sworn to fight drug traffickers, he really was helping narcos move 55 tons of cocaine, by boat, by airplane and by narco-submarine, while taking millions of dollars in bribes. This is serious business.
He portrayed himself as a crusading anti-drug strongman, dubbed the country’s “supercop”, standing up to drug cartels in a country where that’s a dangerous proposition. He was a man America could do business with. He worked closely with the DEA, FBI and CIA. In 2019, García Luna was arrested in Dallas, Texas, and charged with large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy. In January 2023, he stood in Brooklyn, New York, before the same judge who had sentenced El Chapo Guzman, the notorious Sinaloa Cartel leader. He pleaded not guilty. His trial assembled former cartel narcos to point their dirty fingers: Jesús Zambada, known as “El Rey”, who is the brother of Ismael Zambada García, known as “El Mayo,” El Chapos partner at the top of the cartel; Sergio Villarreal Barragán, known as “El Grande”; Harold Mauricio Poveda Ortega, a Colombian narco known as “El Conejo”; Oscar Nava Valencia, known as “El Lobo”; Edgar Veytia, a corrupt state attorney general known as “El Diablo”; Tirso Martínez, known as “El Futbolista”; and Israel Avila. Watch for all the juicy details…

Such a bloody mess
No hard evidence and still getting convicted smh I don't know who to believe
Well, I did say "no hard copy" evidence, meaning physical evidence. It was a case built around spoken testimony from witnesses, most of whom were former narcos. Eyewitness testimony is just as legally compelling as physical evidence. When someone is assaulted and they point to the accused in court and say "that's the guy who hit me," that's evidence. Same when they say "that's the guy who I gave three mil in cash to."
yeah its hard to believe a bunch of people who have everything to gain in their circumstances, even if its for money on the books or something.
@@TheMobReporter If all they had on him was the testimony of convicted killers/narcos ...he had a useless lawyer.
None of it matters , these MF’ers at the top do as they please. It’s all a façade unfortunately.
Well his bank accounts of millions of dollars is hard evidence wouldn't you say?
Mob Reporter this is a one heavy video
Love it
Everyone has a price lol
Thank you The Mob Reporter for another amazing episode with us. Greatly appreciated. 🇨🇦
Mob Reporter hits another one out of the park. Love the content.
its a miracle they even let a video of it
Honestly if you’ve ever seen a cartel torture video it’s easy to see why people just go along with them. They really are dangerous and most people don’t realise the levels they’re willing to go to
I seen a woman get chopped up slowly alive. I seen a child's heart pulled from his chest alive.
I never forgot watching the cartel chainsaw video as a kid.
@@Prometheushighaf sheesh 😒
@@whothis8933 I’ve seen that one too .. fucked up
As a side note the “do you want water ?” Cartel video is probably the worst thing I’ve ever seen in the history of having eyes. Don’t search for it, don’t watch it. Nightmare fuel.
What a tale. Thank you Mob Reporter.
You're welcome LF.
Thanks for the early intel El Mob Reporter 🤣👍
This corruption goes right to the president's office.
You NEED TO DO an episode about John barilaro down in Australia!!!! There are many many episodes to make on that peice of shit
You mean the guy who sues RUclipsrs? 👀
Thank you for fulfilling my request, huge fan..
thank you mob reporter, now this shows curroption in high circles, shame what people do, and to think he d have enough by staying in the legal waters, more than enough, but hey human curroption is botomless
Love and support all your videos!!! Thanks for sharing and uploading
I really liked this one
Thanks, CRQ. Spread the word - it’s not doing very well, possibly being suppressed.

I love this channel! Why do I never hear about this stuff in the news?!
Unloading the plane at the airport with uniforms on....what a buzz that would've been for them, doesn't get much more invincible than that
Sorry I agree with Luna's attorney on this one. You convict by direct evidence not the pure biased testimony of snitches trying to get a sentence reduction.
Especially since it really could of been an orchestrated plot by the cartel to get him out of the way
Honestly I think that deserves a retrial ?
No matter how clandestine you operate, there is always someone who will snitch on you. It is what it is, it's just how the Narco game is played. Rat each other out
Love your channel...
Man, the CIA sure hates competition.
Small time drug dealer in the 1990s making $3000 per hour.
$3000 PER HOUR all day everyday.
How can you tell a 13 year old slanging drugs to get a normal job that pays $15 per hour?
See how easy it is to own the DA? $15,000 down, and $1,000 each tip / warning they give / or confidential informant they sell. $1,000 for anything, just ask them
He's basically Conrado from El chapo
Thanks for sharing. I had forgotten about Luna after his arrest. End of the day, you just need to follow the cash. A character is based on him in the Netflix series Narcos.
I believe its Sol Conrad from the El Chapo series is based on Luna! It was mentioned on the Joe Rogan Experience with former Mexican Police Officer (Ed Calderon)!
Narcos season 9, can't wait.
How long did Harold Mauricio Poveda-Ortega get in the end?
The Justice dept. had to have more evidence on him than just the testimony of convicted narcos....that wouldn't be enough....unless he had a really shxtty lawyer.
awesome
Justicia Divina
"Let me tell you about it"
I always say this line to my people before I explain anything to them!
LOL! 😆 🤣 😂
Of course the bosses snitch that's why they are called narco trafficantes
Garcia luna should have never left mexico they would have never extradited him.
almost as bad as the clinton crime syndicate
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely!
The same damn history just keeps on repeating itself with all these narco guys … They need to smarten up or just give it all up completely because they all end up in jail and funny enough a lot of them end up telling
I’m befuddled, no wiretaps, no physical evidence, no money transactions to prove that he was earning narco money. And he was convicted solely on a few testimonies?
So if the next supercop comes along, and does everything right by the book, can the same thing happen to him regardless?
What if Mexico and China was indicted for crimes against humanity regarding the drug production!?!
Largest drug production is here by pharma
Hide the pain Harold, hide the pain
Just??? Oh dude, you clearly are not from around here... That title is very, very, very old news. It's just that García Luna was the first high ranking oficial to be tried and convicted, but he wasn't the first, nor he'll be the last, to be coluded with the cartels
The “just” wasn’t meant to mean it happened “just now”, it was meant as, why fight the government when you can just buy it.
Adding the English names was an awesome touch!
Possibly taking my last videos suggestion maybe?
Please, tell me about it.
Still rocking with ya M.R.
Forgot I use to say this on every video. Thanks for another banger video! See you on the next one!

Can’t wait to see this episode on Narcos
"El Rey" was short for "El Rey de Mundo" which means 'the king of the world' in English
I'm totally shocked by this. NOT.
*10% for the Big Guy?*
oh no, what an awful human being
He served his country. Don't d CIA support one bad guy and use him to bring down the other bad guy?
So we finally meet "Conrado"from the Narco series
Let me tell you about it 💪
Free El Chapo

Send in the Marines.
Whose Marines?
@@TheMobReporter AMERICAN of course. As you noted, the cartel is in charged from the top down. The reason the presidenta won't do anything for it's people.
The marines corrupt too. Who is stealing Syrian oil or protecting Biden cartels interests in Ukraine?
Good.
Wow
Better question is how did US drug Cartels buy the government?
Lunatic
2nd in command LA county sheriff gang tattoo
One thing I got to say they get these guys but they never get all the money they got plenty of money stashed that's why when you get out and you have access to that money live legit you make millions and millions of dollars and they got money when they come out and they still go back to the same old s***I know one thing for sure I would never do that I'll be well done after doing my time and I have a stash I wouldn't go back with it I enjoyed the money that they didn't get and live life to the fullest legit 100%🎉🎉😂
When you got the money you can buy anything and more often than not……. Anyone😉

Everyone is a snitch even the top boss, there is always someone to snitch on
That's why don't trust no one because in trial just to save their own A$$ they'll snitch on you like in this prime example or with El chapo and others trials ...even with John Gotti the snitch Sammy the bull gravano ...you can't trust any one in this business or you 'll get wacked or snitch...either way your ecrewed
He still would be walking free if he didn't go to usa
I was wondering when you'd cover mexico. Mexico has been a no fly zone for the past 3 months
Guilty by hear say 😂😂😂 he was a super cop that got screwed in the end
El rey is from my hometown, is legit.
I'll prefer a average long FREE LIFE thanks.

Nice business, where I can sign up?
so that means the cia, dea, fbi didnt know this guy was dirty .... time to end this war on drugs...
The war on drugs, or climate, or pollution is at d hands of d end of line consumers. Don't buy and it won't sell. That simple
@@ikwikwi its not that simple, some people are wired to take drugs/ alcohol. its been proven that animals in the wild will take things that give them a buzz... regulate, tax, decriminalize is the way to change the war on drugs.
its orion biorobots. delets now from planet
Organized crime wouldn’t be organized if there wasn’t government involvement.
Top music choice
Thanks, I think so too.
Thanks!
Thank you do much, ML. Gracias.
Makes sense , no one can win this war
we already knew that, because the biggest cartel is the US senators.
Notice the Hillary pic he had? Funny story, Bill as gov of Arkansas helped cover up police suspicions of the CIA importing drugs they sold to fund Iran contra. They flew into a small local Ark airport, which is why Clintons are untouchable
Inanimate object can not have a war waged on it , it’s dumbfounded
Reminds me of Nigeria's former supercop, Abba Kyari, now in jail for being a narco kingpin as well. What's it with all these supercops?!😎...someone get me DIRTY HARRY's files. I suspect there's some real dirt in there.🙃
Yes indeed, Peter, it reminded me of that too. I got half way through a video on that Nigerian case at the time, but had to switch gears before finishing it. Maybe I should try to resurrect it.
