    Anytime you well cast iron, you need to heat. That cast iron up and cool it very slowly. That way, your welds won't crack out. Heat it up welded, then wrap it in a welding blanket and let it cool overnight. That's what they do with engine blocks in cast. Iron rear ends

    The metal cracks over and over again. Suprise ! Trying to weld cold Cast iron , it does

    Ted should have brazed that and preheated it.
