Waiting for a Pocket SE =) Small size, 2.7K+ resolution, ProRes & RAW for 600$. But BM marketing guys don't give it to US, because they need to sell BMPCC4K.
@@Moriarty2007 I don't think blackmagic could make money on a 2.7k $600 camera. canon and sony have much larger volume of sales, so they can get away with $600 cameras. however blackmagic is still a smaller company. even the original blackmagic pocket was $999. and chip shortages+ inflation have pushed up prices up (would likely be $1200 today). Edit: the cost saving between a 2.7k super 16mm and 4k m43 sensor are likely less than $100. so it would more like a $1300 pocket 4k, or a $1200 super 16mm. Truth is: Sensor size has NOTHING do do with low light ability. Only Pixel size counts Pocket 4k sensor: 4096 x 2160 (resolution) / 18.96mm x 10mm (size) = 0.0046~ Pocket 6k sensor: 6144 x 3456 (resolution) / 23.10mm x 12.99mm (size) =0.0037~ So in fact BMPCC4K has physicaly bigger pixels and so, able to catch more light. This was my reason to get the 4K
Only if you crop in to 100% on them.. but usually you just show it at the same screen size, which means more higher noise pixels average out into, in the case of a 2k projection, quarter the pixels and quarter the noise. It makes no difference once it gets scaled and you have extra resolution as a benefit for those that can take advantage of it. File size and video processing should be your main concern.
@3:57: The BMPCC 4K sensor is "only half the size of a full-frame sensor... That means that in low-light situations, you're going to have to increase your ISO." Wrong on both counts. An MFT sensor has only one-quarter the area of a full-frame sensor, but that doesn't mean you have to increase its ISO setting to compensate. Exposure settings on different cameras work the same way, regardless of how large the sensor may be.
Hahaha!!! I love it. Good thing I watched till the end because I was going to disagree with you. But I saw what you did. So I'm going with "It's NOT a waste". The new Arri Alexa 35 shoots ONLY 4.6K. And that's because Netflix FORCED them to raise the resolution, or else they would've kept it at 3K. According to Arri, they didn't see the need to go to 8K or 12K because most of the Hollywood Cinematographers feel 6-12K is not necessary(their words not mine). As long as it had latitude, it could be 2K they didn't care. So to me this camera is not a waste of money, especially if you're shooting indie films. Hell, I still use the original Ursa today in 2022 and my clients LOVE IT. It's not the camera is what you do with it. Nonetheless, I LOVED your argument. I enjoyed the video Cheers.
I'm definitely in the camp of dynamic range over resolution. I feel 4K is a sweet spot with anything bigger having diminishing returns - particularly if you are shooting uncompressed raw like Alexa does and have to deal with all that data.
Great video! I love my Pocket 4K and yes - it has it's flaws. You mentioned them all and it was good, honest review. But there is one thing more: color science. Blackmagic Pocket 4K has unique color science that makes your image look EXPENSIVE, Hollywood style. This one thing is worth to consider before purchase. I started filming two years ago. Last week my documentary was shown on (legit, 22-year history) film festival. Each scene was shot with that camera. I don't know if it was Blackmagic or maybe I am a fast learner. But without that camera it wouldn't be possible :) Not a waste of money for me. But it can be for someone else. Cheers!
You're completely right about the camera having great colour science. It's something hard to put your finger on - it just looks more filmic than many other cameras. Congratulations on the film festival, too.
i second that! love mine, have noticed on my editing bay the 6K Pro runs flawless while the 4K doesn't and my system is fast. other than that love the look, i have my ways around it.
I have the first BMPCC 4k, before BRAW codecs... with the 60p 4k raw uncompressed DNG sequence... if you have a good computer and know how grading is working... it's a monster.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw samsung T5 is ok at 50p 4k after you need an angelbird AV PRO CF... dropping some frame when its too hot, but you can continue to record...
Great video! I just picked up a P4k recently and, coming from a GH5, find the deliberate nature of setting up shots with it to be the biggest difference. It's made me a better film maker by simply demanding I put more thought into a shot. Plus that BRAW is so great to work with 🥰
Micro 4/3 is not a problem. When your shorting a dark scene you just need more lights. It's more important to light the scene. Too many people are always worrying about cranking up iso. Filmmakers are rediculously spoiled nowadays. No one needs anything over 800 if the light it correctly and ideally you can make pretty much anything at 200-500 iso. Pro dps still shoot between 2-800 iso on big feature films. Only rare circumstances is it even higher. Back in the day people where shooting on 0.50 iso film with night scenes and it looked great because they lite it properly. I'd only use a high iso if I'm looking for a particular look to create more digital grain naturally from the camera or to raise my blacks higher so there harder to crush in post to remain Grey. M43 can do all of these anyway. I shot open gate on my gx85 M43 and I love it because it is so versatile with lenses which is far more important.
I agree with you about lighting but these cameras are targeted at budget film makers who maybe don't have the resources to have a big lighting kit. That's when the low light capabilities are very useful. The trend in the industry, big or small, is smaller lighting packages. Even Arri recognise this with the new Alexa 35 having an enhanced low light mode.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw my bmpcc4k shoots 3200 native... It doesn't take a lot to light 3200 iso... ND filters are more of an issue with budget filmmaking, because budget filmmakers are probably more likely to rely on natural light, and getting depth of field with natural daylight and regular shutter speeds requires ND.
Depends how much you like the full frame look. With a speed booster you can get very close to it. But I’d say it a subjective atheistic choice more than a objective technical one.
Thank you for mentioning the 6k/8k post-processing cost. Very few people mention how expensive it can be to edit/store high-res footage. I got the bmpcc 4k when it came out because I knew it would still be relevant 3-4 years later and more, and that by then I would have a more robust system to handle the footage. Plus, as an indie filmmaker, if you want to distribute your film, the majority of distributors accept the 1080p format anyway in 2023.😏 It's a great camera.
@@ChristopherMichaelLawit’s not a good idea to use SSDs to archive. SSDs will suffer digital entropy as they age potentially corrupting the data, sometime in as little as 2 years. Archive to HDDs in a RAID and back that up to LTO.
Lol the funny thing is that I still use the P4K BECAUSE you CAN get the full-frame look with a Metabones XL on it. In DCI mode it’s actually a 1.1x crop. It looks REALLY good. That’s why I haven’t “upgraded” to a P6k… the 1.6x crop is just a bit too much for me.
I've been shooting with a Nikon D5100 with hacked firmware since 2012 and am getting ready to move up to a P4K. My camera has a 1.5 crop factor and that is what I've lived with all this time. I have a Samyang 16mm cine-lens as my widest lens without noticeable distortion. I've got great shots with it. Using a Metabones XL on the P4K with only a 1.1 crop is going to be emancipating.
I use FS700R + Atomos. I like old Cinema cameras. Also BM Production 4K is a nice Camera with global shutter for a ~700$, and BM Pocket original is cool for super16 style with vintage lenses.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I had an original pocket - a very buggy camera with a very bad screen (and if you connect an additional screen, the micro hdmi connector breaks after a few days of use).

OMG, I love this video commentary. Very clever how you go back and forth between the pros and cons! And shallow depth of field and sensor size is way overrated.
Thanks, mate. I agree about shallow depth of field. I think when larger sensors first appeared in video cameras everybody was super excited to use it because they had never had the option before. I think now people are starting to realise that it can be over used and not every shot will benefit from it.
That's a hard question. Probably from a technical point of view the 6K Pro. It appears to have more dynamic range and it has a more detailed picture because of the higher resolution. But, I can't help liking the 4K image, it's just a bit more "cinematic". It's all subjective and really is splitting hairs. They are very close. Maybe if you're watching on a huge 6K TV you can see more of a difference in quality.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw In fact, I was looking for a camera to shoot short films and documentaries, I had bet on the pocket 4k for the price, otherwise the 6k or the Sony Alpha 7 III or the IV. Which of these do you recommend? purchase to be made by around mid-2023
@@thammerhammer3543 Well they are all good. Depends how much experience you have. If you're running around following people for your documentary then maybe something like the a7 iv with its auto focus would be useful. If you're after pure picture quality then the 4K or 6K. Remember cameras don't get worse over time, new ones may get better, but if you like the image from the 4k it will still look that way in the future.
I think you did a great job on this video. I love the way that you have covered more than one point of view. I have always been a fan of Black Magic cameras, but I have never owned one. I shoot live theatre, concerts, and dance shows for the most part. I use two GH5’s, one GH5 Mk 2, and a Panasonic PX 270.
Thanks. There isn't really any great studio set up. It's a small spare bedroom about 8x8 feet. One light, a Neewer SL60W (think its Godex in some countries) a big softbox on it, about 45 degrees to my right. I use a canon EOS R for most of the talking head because of the auto focus. It's on a very cheap tripod that cost like less than $100 on amazon. I want to try and build the set out a bit, so I have more shooting angles but its going slowly. First thing I want to do is add some more furniture to the background to stop the banding on the dark wall behind me that the RUclips compression adds. I have a homemade topdown rig for shooting down at the desk. That's it I think. Hopefully it will grow over time.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw thank you very much for your reply, for sure you will grow over time , even if your content to me looks great already , what about the lens you use ?

Thank you for this informative video. I would like to know what your opinion is about the superscale function in resolve? I use the original pocket cam for headshots/commercial films, and I always super scale. The final product is beautiful in both CDNG and prores HQ.
I just picked up a 2nd hand pocket 4k in mid October 😋. My needs are 4k 50 frames or more, decent pro video codec that doesn't macroblock in high frame rates 10bit 422 and raw, audio in, headphones, possibly shoot long live events to Apple prores LT in HD and 4k, raw video for occasional drama/horror films, i would have also liked SDi out but full size Hdmi will do. USB c recording is a bonus, selling my ef to nex speedbooster to get a m43rds booster, I already have many sony NPF batteries and plate to 12v, I had to buy the DC cable to run external power, I already have many EF, MD, OM (old), M42 lenses, I do have to buy more Sdxc 170MB cards and external SSD. Not as good in low light as my old Sony a6300 ( clean at 15,000 iso) from my first quick filming tests my medium spec pc can easily handle raw and can also handle prores422 HQ. My choice was between BMPCC4k, Z cam E2 4k, I was leaning towards the Zcam because it runs off Sony NPF, but the pocket appeared in a Local CEX store for £770 and I had to grab it😇
I love my BMPCC4K. Although, I have experienced some issues mainly regarding gimbals. Due to the size of the Cine 4K, I’ve had to sell my Ronin-M and go for a gimbal that has a larger cradle and I’ve made a bit of a loss. Also, due to how the screen is covered by the VMount battery when it’s rigged up I’m saving up money to purchase a monitor that can control the settings of the camera in the same nature as the native screen which is NOT at all cheap by any means. Whoever is looking to purchase this camera, please be aware that it will come at a cost to build it in a way where the system is quick and efficient, but honestly the rigging journey and tinkering to find the solution best suited to your needs is incredibly worth it. From rigging, to shooting, to editing in BRAW and LOG I can genuinely say the pay off is something I would like all budget film makers and price to performance enthusiast to experience.
Nice, am getting mine in a few months and I love how you've said that the rigging and all that build up is a great experience especially to growing film makers
I think it will be competitive for a number of years yet. I'd love to see a BMPCC 4K Pro - the same as it is now but with built in ND's and the bigger Sony battery.
If all technical RUclips videos could look and sound like that…imagine, no musical bed, very good sound quality of the speakers voice, no silly background, no unnecessary cutting forward and backward, very distinguished kind of humor. RUclips should really introduce a function, where you could turn of the musical background (like subtitles), which is a horror for me oftentimes.
Liked the summary, I think people buy into brands and what you can afford at the time. I love lumix 4/3rds but with postproduction technology being more readily available, things like luminosity, colour science etc, are becoming less of an issue.
Most cameras are at a point were you can get great pro level images out of them. The will always be something better around the corner but as you said postproduction is shortening the gap even more.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw thanks for the reply, completely agree and Blackmagic know this a lot more than it's competitive brands.

Unfortunately, full frame cameras will not drop in price. Current data show just the opposite trend - in order to accomodate for declining sales, producers are successively raising prices and cutting functionality in lower tiers.
It's an excellent camera if you understand its strengths and are willing to deal with its weaknesses. This is not a "run and gun" video camera. There's no IBIS, and the autofocus is basically useless. The battery life is awful. It's not useful for still photography. This is a cinema camera designed to be used on a movie set, probably in a rig and/or on a tripod at all times. You will need to use manual focus. To get the most out of the camera, shoot Blackmagic RAW. So, if that's what you want in a camera, then this one can give you a beautiful image. For me, it's not what I want. I want a run-and-gun, hybrid photo / video camera.
I couldn’t agree more. Cameras are so good these days, it’s more about finding the best camera for the type of work you do, than there being any one best camera overall
👍🏾👍🏾Excellent Content and Advice, Christopher!! Many Thanks, Brother. I picked up a BMPCC original, last year, and love its organic image. I'm a big fan of all the Blackmagics, and plan on a 4K, next.
When it's all said and done, cameras really don't matter that much... It's what you capture with them that counts. Use what you have... Create some compelling content and you will be rewarded regardless of the limitations you've had to deal with.
As always another fantastic video! As an owner of the BMPCC4K I embarrassingly admit I don't know half of it's features as we typically shoot on a Z7II but what I have seen from the Black Magic has been impressive.
Let's see...a $23,000 cine-camera and $3,000 lenses, which really struggles in low light, or a $1,300 cine-camera that needs a couple thousand dollars in add-ons and uses the lenses I already have? You know which way I am going.
Honestly, other than the wonky form factor, the only thing that makes me unsatisfied with the Pocket 4k is the terrible rolling shutter. If they came out with a G2 with a faster sensor readout, I'd be all over it
4K rolling shutter is not too bad, especially if you use an aspect ratio crop. But I agree a 4K g2 or Pro would be cool. I think the fx3 and Alexa 35 prove it’s not all about resolution and plenty of people would like a 4K camera with other improvements.
My Pocket 4k with the metabones speedbooster is still going strong! Use it all the time, great camera. Wish blackmagic would release a Pro version with built in NDs and 2 Xlrs
Well, I have the BMPCC4K, and I could even buy the new "Cinema-6" and a set of L-Mount lenses, and I STILL won't sell my 4K. It's earned its place iin my inventory.
Hey Great Video and Channel, I thinking for beginners the way to go nowdays is GH5 in Combo with BMPCC4K and buy used gear as well as vintage and Chinese TT artisan,Zhonghij speedmaster very fast lens. I learn a lot about composition, framing focus pull WB etc...because I had everything Manual. As well for people shooting Multicam like myself of concert or event. My Blackmagic are the tripod camera and GH5 are my run and gun handheld with cine lens shooting style... The paper list is imho the best way to go...and I agree for wide shoot my S5 FF is maybe better but I did not try the new Panasonic Leica 9mm 1.7 f...which should be great. And I don't agree with you about full frame look MFT is really close to it with lens like T1 Speedmaster Zhongghie 17,25,35 mm Wich is equivalent of 34,50,70mm in MFT depending of the camera you use (GH5 sensor is true MFT crop 2 BMPCC is slightly different 1.85 if I remember) But yes FF look is easier to achieve with FF cameras and lens but you can trick an MFT camera to look like that to a certain point... The bokeh look, yes and I have seen hundreds of low budget films photographing images that have nothing to do with story board in order to display the showing off fast lens shallow depth it almost distracts the viewer attention of film they are thinking what does that apple on the table mean, what is significance of that apple
Haha, you're right. We forget that most people are only interested in the story and flashy visuals can pull people out of it, or confuse them, if done for the wrong reason.

Good for you not falling for my trap, i think a few did. I always wanted an original pocket. Saw some truly cinematic images from it. I still toy with the idea of picking one up from time to time. What do you do about the battery life, that puts me off a bit?
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I run a 12v to D-tap cable into a v-mount. Works great. I think these little cameras are a steal for fun short projects. I just used it to pick up some inserts for a film that I shot on the URSA mini pro G2.
Anyone who complains about available light doesn't know how to light a scene properly. If you look at the sets that are set up in terms of lighting in Holywood movies even the night scenes have a ridiculous amount of lighting.... People who say it's about available light never learned how to use lighting properly.
I take your point but there are other possibilities too. Maybe they don't have access to a great lighting package. Plenty of directors and cinematographers have made their first films with only available light. Lots of lights mean lots of crew - not always possible with limited budgets. Run and gun documentaries etc
8K? 12K? Its hard enough to find 4K content aside from RUclips. Hardly any 4K broadcasts ether and its been what? 10 years? 8K and 12K will never become the industry standard in our lifetime. No IBIS or AF kills it for me though. Even 8 year old Olympus M43 cameras have IBIS and AF and you can get them off eBay for pennies on the dollar basically. Depends how bad you want 4K 60
I guess it depends where you live. Most the sports channels in the UK are available in UHD, as well as a few entertainment and movie channels. Japan has 4K and even 8K broadcasts. Netflix has a big 4K library. There's other things to consider other than resolution too, bitrate, dynamic range, colour science, RAW recording.... there's more to the camera than just 4K 60p. It depends what content you want to make, AF may be essential or irrelevant.

Is this camera still worth it in 2022 sir?..or do u consider anything better than this with some extra budget
@@kingbaby8399 it is worth it :)
@@kingbaby8399 Depends on how much extra budget you have. In and around this price point, it's still hard to beat.
I have the first BMPCC 4k, before BRAW codecs... with the 60p 4k raw uncompressed DNG sequence... if you have a good computer and know how grading is working... it's a monster.
Cool. What cards do you use to record uncompressed DNG?
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw samsung T5 is ok at 50p 4k after you need an angelbird AV PRO CF... dropping some frame when its too hot, but you can continue to record...
Great video! I just picked up a P4k recently and, coming from a GH5, find the deliberate nature of setting up shots with it to be the biggest difference. It's made me a better film maker by simply demanding I put more thought into a shot. Plus that BRAW is so great to work with 🥰
I agree with everything you said. Being more deliberate is great for improving.
Love this. Getting my first BMPCC 4K cam. Got one for $1000 in mint condition with a cage. Excited to explore this camera.
Cool. I’m sure you’ll have fun!
Is it not being full frame a big factor ?
Yes, I'm looking to get some external SSDs for storage and the price is crazy!
@@ChristopherMichaelLawit’s not a good idea to use SSDs to archive. SSDs will suffer digital entropy as they age potentially corrupting the data, sometime in as little as 2 years. Archive to HDDs in a RAID and back that up to LTO.

What lens did you use on the EOS R for this video?
A Tamron 17-50mm Di 2 f2.8
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw thank you. I'm thinking of getting the EOS R but not sure which lenses I should get.
Using a Metabones XL on the P4K with only a 1.1 crop is going to be emancipating.
exactly! and why this gut as talking out of his rectum
I use FS700R + Atomos. I like old Cinema cameras. Also BM Production 4K is a nice Camera with global shutter for a ~700$, and BM Pocket original is cool for super16 style with vintage lenses.
Cool. I always wanted a original pocket. Didn't the BM Production 4K have a problem with fixed pattern noise ?
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I had an original pocket - a very buggy camera with a very bad screen (and if you connect an additional screen, the micro hdmi connector breaks after a few days of use).

I would actually really like an OG BMPCC. How do you power it?
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw We usually use it on a tripod in a studio setting, so it's just powered by an AC adapter. Beast of a tiny camera though. Maybe my favorite of all time.
hey how everyone i have a question? I accidentally recorded in proxy mode on my bmpcc 4k how do i get the footage off the camera
Hey chris,
6k pro vs 4k
Which has the better image quality?
That's a hard question. Probably from a technical point of view the 6K Pro. It appears to have more dynamic range and it has a more detailed picture because of the higher resolution. But, I can't help liking the 4K image, it's just a bit more "cinematic". It's all subjective and really is splitting hairs. They are very close. Maybe if you're watching on a huge 6K TV you can see more of a difference in quality.
Is still worth in 2023 and 2024 the pocket 4k?
Probably. Unless Blackmagic bring out a better but same priced version.

Great video ,I really like your contents, I am curios to know what is your studio setup .

I've never used it, so you know more than me! Something I'll look in to.
My choice was between BMPCC4k, Z cam E2 4k, I was leaning towards the Zcam because it runs off Sony NPF, but the pocket appeared in a Local CEX store for £770 and I had to grab it😇
Sounds like you got a good deal. At some point I’d like to pick up a second one.

Anyone saying the bmpcc 4k is useless in 2022 when there is a worldwide recession has 1st world problems lol
Just stumbled across your channel. Nice straight forward content!
Thanks, mate.
Well said. I completely agree.
Nice, am getting mine in a few months and I love how you've said that the rigging and all that build up is a great experience especially to growing film makers
Meanwhile some hollywood directors still shoot on gear that is over 50 years old. It's a great camera and even greater combined with a speedbooster!
Some gear stands the test of time. Imagine what filmmakers 50 years ago would make of the technology we have available now.
Very clever. Instant sub.
Thanks for the sub!
I will not get rid of it for the years to come. I love this little powernachine.
I think it will be competitive for a number of years yet. I'd love to see a BMPCC 4K Pro - the same as it is now but with built in ND's and the bigger Sony battery.

Awesome! Thanks, mate and welcome.
Thank you mate. I really appreciate you taking the time to say that.
Well said. You comments about gear hype were spot on.

This is a FANTASTIC video! THANK YOU 🙏🏽
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks, mate.
What an amazing video!!!

I already have a bunch of good MFT lenses.
That's useful
When it's all said and done, cameras really don't matter that much... It's what you capture with them that counts. Use what you have... Create some compelling content and you will be rewarded regardless of the limitations you've had to deal with.
BMBCC4K will never be a waste of money. At least for the next 10 years for sure)
As always another fantastic video! As an owner of the BMPCC4K I embarrassingly admit I don't know half of it's features as we typically shoot on a Z7II but what I have seen from the Black Magic has been impressive.
Cheers mate, that's great to hear.
Let's see...a $23,000 cine-camera and $3,000 lenses, which really struggles in low light, or a $1,300 cine-camera that needs a couple thousand dollars in add-ons and uses the lenses I already have? You know which way I am going.
So is the BMPCC 4K your 'Precious'?
Smeagol likes it, so we do.
That would be my wish too. Maybe include 4k 120 in there and a bit more dynamic range, as well.
Well, I have the BMPCC4K, and I could even buy the new "Cinema-6" and a set of L-Mount lenses, and I STILL won't sell my 4K. It's earned its place iin my inventory.
Hey
Great Video and Channel,
I thinking for beginners the way to go nowdays is GH5 in Combo with BMPCC4K and buy used gear as well as vintage and Chinese TT artisan,Zhonghij speedmaster very fast lens.
And I don't agree with you about full frame look MFT is really close to it with lens like T1 Speedmaster Zhongghie 17,25,35 mm Wich is equivalent of 34,50,70mm in MFT depending of the camera you use (GH5 sensor is true MFT crop 2 BMPCC is slightly different 1.85 if I remember)
But yes FF look is easier to achieve with FF cameras and lens but you can trick an MFT camera to look like that to a certain point...
Yours

The bokeh look, yes and I have seen hundreds of low budget films photographing images that have nothing to do with story board in order to display the showing off fast lens shallow depth it almost distracts the viewer attention of film they are thinking what does that apple on the table mean, what is significance of that apple
It distracts me and breaks the tempo

Good for you not falling for my trap, i think a few did. I always wanted an original pocket. Saw some truly cinematic images from it. I still toy with the idea of picking one up from time to time. What do you do about the battery life, that puts me off a bit?
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I run a 12v to D-tap cable into a v-mount. Works great. I think these little cameras are a steal for fun short projects. The only issue with my copy is that the HDMI out got fried by a faulty cable, so I have to use an eyepiece that fits onto the LCD. Overall not bad.

At the price point it’s a bargain
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw Indeed. My only wish was that there was better and cheap storage solutions. SSD externally sounds like a good way to lose your footage :(
Great analysis - 4k is more than enough for most.
Thanks. And I agree, 4K for most is enough.
auto focus is useless for cinema camera
Why?
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw For example, in a romance movie the focus moves between lovers, or in an action movie the focus moves between warriors, the speed of the focus moving speed is different, etc.. Different scenes require different focusing speeds. It's not like photography, it's not only ASAP is good. Cinema camera doesn't know what focus speed the director needs. Focusing speed is a kind of a creative process, so it should be controlled by the film creator.
@@张大勇-p2r I agree that the film maker should have ultimate control but I don't see why autofocus would be useless. Imagine an action scene where you can tack a car perfectly or keep a persons face in focus as they walk towards the camera. I can think of many scenarios where it would be useful. If you want to do a simple rack focus, you can always turn it off and do it by hand. It's just one more tool.
This camera will be viable for quite a while

I really enjoyed this video. I have been looking at the 4k and 6k pro. Never got into video but looks fun just as a hobby. The last camera I bought was a nikon d70 to take macro shots of my saltwater aquarium (which even less than a year old I managed to get for 500.00). Data storage is probably one of the best arguments. Data hording gets expensive. I have a 20 tb server now and its almost full. (although easy enough to expand but that still costs a lot). Back to doing more reading.
Yeah, data can rack up fast using these cameras. They’re probably better than some others thanks to BM compressed BRAW.
