Yep same with OJ everyone said he killed his wife but he said he didn’t. And Casey Anthony everyone said she killed her daughter but the jury let her go as well
I have to disagree with Taibbi's framing of the Jacob Blake situation. It wasn't a gray area. The police were responding for a report on Blake himself, he had an active warrant for him, and was actively breaking a restraining order his ex-girlfriend who he sexually abused had placed on him. When confronted by police, he was in the process of stealing a car rental Blake's ex had which contained her children, he resisted arrest, shook off at least 1 tazer (potentially 2-3), and was actively retrieving a knife on his way to enter the car. The cops were justified.
Jacob Blake winning the BLM hero lottery was simply a matter of "right place, right time". Normally a situation like that won't really piss off even BLM types but the country was already in full riot mode due to the Floyd stuff so they just clung to the Blake story because it gave them another reason to burn shit down.
@@BrandonHeat243 BLM in my opinion, is an organization that began with good intentions, but has gotten more and more desperate and dishonest as the years go by. Wait what's the point of being in favor of gun rights if you can't use them to defend yourself and your property? This is something I don't understand about the 2nd amendment lobby, it's like they just wanna own guns to use as paper weights because the second a gun owner uses the gun in self defense (Rittenhouse, the McMichael family) they immediate cuck and throw everyone under the bus. And yes, I read that you thought the media was telling the truth. The fact that people even care what race the people involved are or of the people in the trial is a huge problem. It doesn't matter what race a person is if you are in a jury. To say it does is to say that you want jurors to make qualitative opinions based on social narratives versus simply making a judgement based on facts, evidence, and law. The entire jury could have been black and not a single person should have voted guilty. But I also agree that some amount of conflict between peoples with different lives and backgrounds and ethnicities will never end. Its a byproduct of our existence. But... i do believe that for the most part, our legal system does offer an avenue to serve justice in a way that largely avoids those human traits because objective facts and evidence with clear understood law can be applied equally to any individual... We should all sympathize with Rittenhouse, even if we think it was a mistake for him to try to help his community in the way he did. He was attacked by crazy rioters, and defended himself. Period.
It wasn't his community. He crossed state lines to protect a car dealership that didn't invite him. And the shootings only happened after he left the car dealership to go for a walk "to see if anyone needed medical help."
He's a great example of a couple of ideas. First, you can have nothing but the best of intentions and still make serious mistakes. Second, it's not what you do but how you do it. E murderers sometimes get parades under the right conditions (don'tget your panties in a bunch, I'mjuat using it as an example), we all wave and cheer and accept them as heroes because of when and who they choose to kill.
He lived in Illiinois and not in Kenosha, it isn't his community. He is one of those so-called outside agitators - carrying a gun, no less. He was attacked after he shot someone. Get it right. In the first instance he aimed and racked the slide at the individual, who had his hands raised (as if Rittenhouse should be walking around armed and then pointing a gun at anyone) - the indivdual then advanced as Rittenhouse took aim, the idividual had a gun also. He could have shot Rittenhouse, but did not. Nor was he asked, EVER, to guard the automobile dealership. The owners had never contacted him and were unaware of his existence, they happened upon him during an encounter lasting minutes, when the vigilantes were closeby the dealership (they were in the street, nnot on the property, as pictured in a photograph). Rittenhouse and his posse were not invited to guard the dealership. Rittenhouse falsely claims he went to Kenosha to protect the automobile dealership. That is a complete lie. @@francisdenty3288 You're definitely right about one thing. The 2 cases were very different! In one case...the WHITE guy, who shot WHITE people in self defense, (with no criminal record), was framed as a BIGOT and a RACIST (within hours of the incident). Whereas the BLACK guy, enraged by the Rittenhouse verdict, chose to get even with the entire WHITE race by running over WHITE women & children with his SUV. That evil bastard was framed as a guy who was just fighting for a cause. I also couldn't help but notice, that despite being more straightforward as you mentioned, the MSM didn't jump to conclusions in the second incident.🤔 They waited just long enough for the maniacs Twitter page to get scrubbed! In fact, some leftist lunatics still refuse to acknowledge his heinous act. They have gone so far as to blame the massacre on his SUV with headlines like, "SUV crashes into holiday parade" or "Waukesha parade turns deadly". Of course, this willful ignorance is nothing new. When shootings and/or murders are reported, these same people blame the guns, rather than the shooter themselves. The double standard is clear and obvious to anyone paying attention. What is this " domestic white terrorism" that's such an issue for Taibbi? Can he identify some examples and can he explain how that even stacks up to the point where it warrants rational fear?
He has to say that to keep people on the Left off of his back. "Of course white terrorism is a concern and exists, but let's move on to this actual thing I can talk about." If pressed, he'll probably talk about something like the Las Vegas shooter and the Oklahoma City bomber and maybe the guy who shot Steve Scalise, but then do everything he can to change the subject after that.

I live in Kenosha the people who were burning down used car lots 1 was black owned that Kyle and many others were protecting. Most of those people came from out of town. Over hundred year old buildings were destroyed, dozens of businesses destroyed, 3 used car lots hundreds of cars completely burned. Complete chaos and the police couldn't/wouldn't do anything except block 1 major road for a few hours.
Kyle's actual shooting could be considered self defense in the moments it happened. However, watching the whole video and taking the totality of events and what caused them into account, none of it would have happened if a 17 year old kid didn't go with an assault rifle, untrained in combat and act like a cowboy. The police had it hand and the protest was getting pushed back and dispersed. So, to me, at the very least, he shouldn't have been able to have an assault rifle open carrying as a 17 year old. He had no business being there at all and was clearly immaturely hoping to be part of this protection that was really unnecessary. He wasn't even asked to protect that lot by the owners, per their testimony. He should have been found guilty of 3rd degree reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and illegally carrying and obtaining a firearm while underage. This at the very least should prove that we need more stringent rules on gun ownership. The military trained members of that civilian protection force did not put themselves in the situation Kyle did and most of the people (except the first guy who was actually just out of a mental health clinic) attacked him thinking he was an active shooter. They were literally protecting themselves and others from Kyle. If people had their kids birthday party at a public park and some dude ran up with an assault rifle and people attack him and he kills them, is that their fault or his? So, open carry is dumb and Kyle Rittenhouse should have been found guilty of the 2 lesser charges he was charged with. The complete exoneration is ridiculous.

I like Taibbi, but sometimes he has a problem giving anything that leans right unequivocal credit. He alluded to the fact that Fox/other right leaning news got it right but added the word "lionized" which is usually a pejorative. The problem is that Fox et al were 100% correct regarding Rittenhouse. When a legacy news outlet gets something totally right, it's OK to say "in this instance they were totally right." It might incentivize all legacy media to aspire to be a little better about their reporting.
"Gray area"? Blake was trying to kidnap a child while armed with a knife if I'm not mistaken. I'm all for making sure journalists try to get all the facts in before rushing to judgement but listening to Matt here feels like he's run into cognitive dissonance. How the hell is that "gray"?

I keep hearing this "Kyle didn't even shoot any black people" point being brought up. Why would it matter if he did? If black people were attacking him and Kyle were defending himself in the same way, does that then make it not self defense? Stupid point
It keeps coming up because initially a few news outlets were claiming that the victims were black. That narrative was also spreading in some Twitter circles.
George Floyd was not murdered as Joe plainly puts it. The charges were Unintentional Second Degree Murder, Third Degree Murder, and Second Degree Manslaughter and was found guilty on all three. As I understand, prosecutors throw as many charges as they can imagine just to make at least one stick, but somehow the jury bought all of them. Perhaps it’s because I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t understand how a single action can get charged with 3 different kinds of the same crime. Additionally, there were several conditions that were contributory to Floyd’s death. One time I had a car accident. My car was hit any another driver. My claim was reduced by 20%, because the officer who reported the accident assigned 20% of the cause to me. Floyd was heavily drugged, and took more drugs during the arrest. Floyd had a cardiac condition, and had COVID-19 at the time of the arrest, in addition of being overweight. Officer Chauvin used a text book tactic, taught in arrest training by about 80% of the nation’s PD. Officer Chauvin used the method in a negligent manner. I don’t think murder in any degree in a situation where any other person would’ve survived should’ve been charged, especially, in the presence of so many other contributory circumstances. There was a last minute theory by the defense, which was possible CO2 poisoning from the patrol car’s exhaust pipe. The prosecutor countered by offering a 96% lung oxygen saturation, to which the judge threatened with a mistrial. How can a person asfíxiate with that much oxygen sat? In addition to all that, the cops had a mini riot of several people screaming at them, which may have contributed to Chauvin’s actions. Police racism was a politically abused issue by Obama that lead to many riots and eventually to the Defund the Police campaign, which is now on self-reverse because of the unsustainable and political counter effect of increase in crime. The case was obviously politicized and the jury accepting ALL of the charges at the same time is wired.
I was in law enforcement a couple of years right around when this was happening. We restructured our whole use of force and tons of other stuff but we had a hard rule, so long as you follow what your taught the department will go to bat for you. This is a lie. If the situation is hot enough they will drop you like a flaming coal. What chauvin did was entirely within his rules even if he misapplied the technique or didn't do it properly, he obviously tried to do what he was taught. The problem is now no longer with chauvin its with the department and the state who set mandates for training, but if its the state prosecuting are they really going to accurately target the ones at fault or singly find a scapegoat?

I have to disagree with Taibbi's framing of the Jacob Blake situation. It wasn't a gray area. The police were responding for a report on Blake himself, he had an active warrant for him, and was actively breaking a restraining order his ex-girlfriend who he sexually abused had placed on him. When confronted by police, he was in the process of stealing a car rental Blake's ex had which contained her children, he resisted arrest, shook off at least 1 tazer (potentially 2-3), and was actively retrieving a knife on his way to enter the car. The cops were justified.
...but feelings.
I remember having a conversation with my sister about this case. She was extremely heated. She thought Rittenhouse was a cold blooded murderer and white supremecist. She thought his gun was illegally ascertained and all of this nonsense.
I tried to explain that it was a case of self defense. She completely rejected the idea. I asked if she saw the video. She said she didn't want to watch the video. This kind of explained everything. She was willfully ignorant. She wanted to believe so badly that Rittenhouse was a murderous white supremecist that she intentionally ignored facts and evidence. You're definitely right about one thing.
If you can't recognize the hypocrisy...you're either ignorant to reality...or you're not being honest with yourself.✌

Friend of my wife had no idea why Gov. Cuomo was forced from office. People are lazy when they get their info
The real question is, why didn't it happen 18 months sooner?
I live in Kenosha the people who were burning down used car lots 1 was black owned that Kyle and many others were protecting. Most of those people came from out of town. Over hundred year old buildings were destroyed, dozens of businesses destroyed, 3 used car lots hundreds of cars completely burned. Complete chaos and the police couldn't/wouldn't do anything except block 1 major road for a few hours.
That's why this case was important. They know we can defend next time.
So maybe there is a problem with police, who would’ve thought.
@@adamp3133 so what other laws should a judge completely disregard and who should the judge disregard those laws for? If you paid attention the to trial AT ALL you would know the reasoning behind the judges decision to throw out the gun charges. The Laws are the Laws, if you don’t like them, do something to change them. Do not just expect every judge to disregard the law to suit your opinions of a situation.
@@adamp3133 so you'd rather a convicted child molester free to molest more children on the streets? Which would you rather have, a 17, close to 18 year old be able to choose to help people injured in riots and protect businesses, bear arms etc or a man be able to anally sexually abuse children?

What chauvin did was entirely within his rules even if he misapplied the technique or didn't do it properly, he obviously tried to do what he was taught. Justin Trudeau called truckers racists and misogynists... Straight out of the lefty handbook.
What I learned from all this is Intimidating a jury and telling lies in court and on camera is ok as long as it's done in the name of BLM.
Well members of the US gov literally called for riots if Chauvin didn't go to jail and all the jury identities were leaked. Whatever the verdict was, there's no way that shouldn't have been a mistrial. Threaten to riot and you get whatever you want....

He was quiet as a mouse for the past few years during that wave of cancel culture then he conveniently moved to Texas and now he understands what happening. He saw what was happening and he kept his mouth shut like good boy.
Take notes
He was pissed on by his own party. Now he is turning to the light
Business decision. But note, he voted with his feet and split.
He moved to fucking Austin. That's a perfect example of Matt Taibbi's pretzel logic during this podcast.

This guy is a real life beavis & butt head character 🤣
The Independent (UK newspaper) online headline LITERALLY said 'shoots 3 black men', was corrected a few hours later without comment. No apology, just quietly sowing division
I’ll be back later to read the spicy comments
