My buddy had one about the same year. He dropped it going slow and it twisted his throttle wide open. The kill switch didn’t work, and neither of us wanted to grab the plug wire bare handed to pull it. It seized the engine, so he took it to the shop. They replaced the piston, sleeve, and the needle bearings if it had any (memory) however I do remember they did it wrong and he got it back but it started acting up bad. Took it back and found out it had a split crankshaft ( meaning designed in two parts) that they didn’t perfectly balance/match when they reassembled it. They had to replace bearings again. This is from what he told me, we were teenagers so whatever shop told him might have gotten lost in translation so to speak.
But the bike was a beast, plenty of power, light for its size, and quick. All I had to follow him was a Honda Z50 mini trail. Fun little mini bike i could almost ride all day on a gallon of gas. Thats what the tank held. Gas was 25 cents a gallon. Fun times.

Hello . what is the difference between an alpine block and a pursang in a similar situation. I had a Pursang but only a 250 block Alpina from 1979. does the engine match? switch?. Thanks in advance

    It is a two stroke.
    Compression tests are not enough.
    Leak down test the engine!
Do NOT assume 50 year old crank seals are good.
Being cheap and lazy will kick you hard, later.
