That he sticks in his falsetto throughout is very impressive. I keep slipping into my high tenor register. Kurt you are a legend. Sorry, Chris... you are also a legend.
OMG.....that was so powerful and emotional and yet such a beautifully delicate controlled performance. One of Chris Colfer's top two or three songs on Glee for sure....if not THE best. Just wow!!
I just hope that he returns to singing sometime. That glorious voice should be heard. And I’m curious to hear how it has matured. He should be able sble to sing AND write, right?
This is *definitely* number one, his very best, with that #1 spot shared by As if We Never Said Goodbye. Also: A House is Not a Home, Not The Boy Next Door, the 5th-season full version of Defying Gravity (listen to both versions to witness the evolution in his vocal technique), Being Alive, and the Judy Garland/Barbra Streisand duet sung with Rachel (Lea Michele) - mashup of Happy Days Are Here Again & Come On Get Happy. All just excellently done.
This is wonderful. Often, when someone sings this song and you can see they're like, OMG now I'm singing THAT song. Chris Colfer looks like he's just thoroughly emotionally in that story, that character and that moment. He sings it like what it is: a prayer and plea to God, while all around him are asleep. And he's so young himself, but you can see wisdom and experience in his eyes like Valjean would have.
Just gobsmacking. Amazing. Also, how much he improved over his time on Glee. Don't get me wrong his voice was always astoundingly beautiful but this is just phenomenal. Voice of an angel.
Sometime after this scene in Rachel's apartment (same episode)... Kurt: "You might have won the showcase, but my performance is what everyone was talking about because I BLEW YOU AWAY!"
I've only heard Colm Wilkinson sing this better and that's only because it was actually written for him. While I think Hugh Jackman is a great actor he did not sing this anywhere as beautifully as Chris.
i have no clue why this man is not singing or performing more. He's unique.
This is THE VERY BEST version. He has the voice of an angel. Otherworldly.
If Chris Colfer ever performs on Broadway or the Westend or in just any musical, I'll be in front row center ...
Save the seat next to you for me!

I would love to be there as well ^.^

Is he a tenor or soprano?
@@mustaviomahlerhe’s a countertenor
That’s not falsetto, he’s a countertenor, that’s just his range

how on earth has this young man not gotten more kudos.....I have seen and heard colm wilkinson on Broadway and this is amazing. Where is he hiding?
@catlover922730: If I could give you a hundred thumbs up I would! It's nice to see a musical fan recognizing Chris' talent.
@@anjaeijck4160 Kurt is very talented his voice I read wat a vocal coach said he has unique voice which he does
Chris is multi-talented and choses to keep writing his highly successful books. He is also producing and directing movies based on these books.

I have would very much have to agree. Chris Colfer was an amazing person for Glee. I'm sad that the show is now gone.
I just hope that he returns to singing sometime. That glorious voice should be heard. And I’m curious to hear how it has matured. He should be able sble to sing AND write, right?

Check out Alfie Boe’s version-or, even better, the “Four Valjeans” version.
