I live directly in that pink area here in Southern California and I appear be to the only one of my neighbors doing any sort of preparation for what's coming. Thanks for the update.
It’s so crazy how desert dwellers are not taking flash floods seriously. I’m a phoenix transplant in Huntington Beach and I’m like guys, this is serious lmao. I remember when we got a tropical storm run off in maricopa/pinal county and the entire metropolitan area pretty much shut down. That was 3” of rain overnight. I was trapped in San tan valley. The i10 in downtown was completely flooded with people trapped on top of their cars. I’m praying for the people in Coachella and all the surrounding valleys.
One of the few times a tropical system map like this doesn't give me anxiety living in the greater Houston area. That's how desperate I am for rain. It's been a brutal summer.
You don't have to buy bottles of water. Fill up empty containers: 2 liter bottles, juice bottle and empty milk jugs. Put some in your freezer now. Fill your bathtub to use as water to flush your toilet. Charge your electronics now. Have flashlights handy. Think about losing power for a few days. Good luck. From Florida.
Praying for all those needing to be eye openers and wake up to get them to prepare or leave the states affected and help the homeless and nursing homes and hospitals 😢 to be protected.
The Long Valley Caldera near Mammoth Lakes CA is in the path of the storm as well. There are signs that it is awakening after 100,000 years of slumber. And what can cause volcanic eruptions? Water that gets into the magma chamber and becomes steam..

A weeks' worth of warnings for this! Wow a rainstorm for California with 45 - 60mph winds. What a joke. Maybe the 2-5 " of rain will wash the trash & used needles of the streets. About what I figured would happen.
Hey, Levi ... we got some heavy rain as that Bahamas/Florida Twave passed through Saturday morning with quite a lot of localized flooding ... hopefully we won't see any serious impacts.
The track for Hilary also matters for rainfall outcomes for coastal urban Southern California. The mountains of Southern California will produce a rain shadow if Hilary tracks east of the mountains. Weather models endlessly/historically overstate rain totals for any system where precipitation is to wrap around from the east/northeast across the mountains (the mountains clearly trouble the models a great deal). With that projected slight jog to the east by Hilary earlier today the aggressive rainfall projections for much San Diego were cut sharply. If Hilary ultimately tracks west of the mountains we in SD might see some wind; we would definitely get serious rain. However, as it stands at 300p PST my sense is rainfall totals for this event (west of the mountains) will fall far short of predictions. That said, rainfall over the eastern slopes of the Southern California mountains and over the deserts of SW California etc will be dangerous & historic.
I can't tell if its bad that I'm excited to see videos from you again? lol. You're my number 2 stop after the NHC for tropic news. Hoping Tampa keeps it's streak going this year with no direct hits.
I'm hoping the it hugs the coast out in the ocean for another couple hundred miles before it dives in. Would like to see the desert get ample water. San Diego in LA and surrounding country couldn't can always benefit from more water
if you listen the wind in the storm, you can hear Hillary laughing at don the con for making history for being the only person in the usa to have 91 criminal charges across 4 indictments in 4 states all at the same time 😄😄
Board up... what? When you board up for a hurricane, you board up doors and windows. Yanno... things that houses have. Homeless don't have houses, they have tents at best, as you yourself noted. So what is there to board up? And to what? Concrete? Even mobile homes are notoriously dangerous in extreme weather, which is why people abandon them for better shelter. Putting stolen plywood around dozens or hundreds of tents is going to 1) Hurt the homeless from all the plywood flying around that presumably have nails in them and 2) piss off local business owners, stealing is a crime. Unless you're being sarcastic, then lol. lmao, even.
Like Cali has NEVER had tropical storms...bahaha The media seems to be putting FEAR in the people. I guess the stores will profit from the news having people stock up like a months worth of food. bahaha
Weird😱 calm muggy cloudy still weather now In the high desert . 3200 feet - midway between LA n Vegas - I survived Hillary in the 90's I'll ride this one out too - Stay strong Apple Valley and SD

Better to be prepared & not need to be, than need to prepare & not be!

Food, water, security. JB on RUclips has been preaching it for years!!
I know people who are in the "oh, it's just a storm" mindset. Not taking it seriously at all
The neighbours have already evacuated.

I’m worried about the Dams. I live at the base of the flood path from 1928
That was reportedly 1b gallons back then- the reservoir now holds 40b

Let us hope those tents in SoCal were able to loot plywood from hardware stores so they can board up.
I also hope that homeless people will not be too badly affected by this storm.
