  • Check out my Japanese apartment in downtown Kyoto.
    Living in Kansai rather than the Tokyo area has its benefits. Let me show you what you can expect for an average rent.
    Japanese apartments are sweet. They're not big but you have everything that you could need.
    Also, please help me solve the window vent mystery! ;-)
    Don't forget to check out my social media links below!

    This was probably my favorite Japanese apartment video. Love the color of the wood floor and all the light in the bedroom. I was looking for a video that explains how you ended up in Japan in the first place but couldn't find one, I would watch if you made one. I also have one question on commuting, since Japan is so compact and has a great transportation system are you really ever far from anything? I live in the states (L.A.) so things are much more spread out. Hope to get a chance to experience Japan someday. Keep up the cool videos.

      Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video! :-D
      I've never made a vid on why I'm here. I think I maybe mentioned some things here and there but I could certainly dedicate a video to it.
      Japan is very compact that's true, especially compared to L.A. haha
      For me tough being able to walk anywhere or take my bike is a huge plus of living downtown Kyoto. In Tokyo it's not unusual to take long subway rides to go for dinner for example.
      Coming from Switzerland I'm just used to being able to walk to most places. So I guess that's why I really like it. :)

      Damar - check out this site; www.cheapfareguru.com / Last Thanksgiving day, I found a round trip ticket from LAX (Los Angeles Intl) to NRT (Tokyo, Narita Intl) for $495.56 8/24 thru 9/2. It is on Singapore Airlines. Typical cheaper times that I have seen for travel to Japan is in Mid March to 1st week of May and then in late Sept to just before Thanksgiving day. Good luck in your searches and hope you get to experience Japan someday soon!

    Very nice apartment! And those views! Fabulous. And I adore that little balcony, great place for a breakfast or to read. :) As to hanging things on the walls, make sure to ask if you can, those hooks in bedroom look like so called gallery hanging system, what could suggest you won't be able to put a nail in a wall, but as I said, that's a thing to ask. As to those vents, maybe that's why you have on/off on them, to not let more moisture when it's humid out? But that's a rough guess, I only know trickle vents are more and more popular, cause people started to notice, that when they have new very well sealed windows, environment inside gets unhealthy.

    • @MomentsWithNick
      @MomentsWithNick  7 лет назад +4

      Thx for watching the vid!
      I can use small picture hooks but no nails. So heavy stuff is a no go but pictures are fine.
      That sounds logical. It will definitely get interesting once the weather gets more humid. Right now I really like the vents, who knows what will happen in the summer hehe.

    The cables on the wall are picture hooks, so you don't put holes in the walls. You can move them around and you should be able to move the hooks up and down along the cable too

    It's funny how different cultures value spaces. In the US it seems like Living Room/Kitchen tend to dominate the space as it gets smaller, whereas in Japan they prioritize hygene (shower, bath, toilet, laundry, etc... having dedicated space as opposed to squished in wherever they fit).

    This apartment looks so cool! The video was great, you probably did the best job of talking about everything and being informative in the time period that I've seen. how much does an apartment like this cost? I've seen some extremely small ones and some overkill for one person and this seems like a good size in the middle.

What do Japanese people think of having dogs living in the house/apartment? Are the walls thick enough to prevent you from hearing your neighbors? Thanks for sharing.

    Awesome place man. I miss Japan so much. cant wait get back. Japanese just have so much more care in design, cleanliness, and comfortability of living spaces. Its not weird for westerner to prefer japanese style bathrooms and toilets. the ones who have spent time living there understands why Japanese design is a lightyears better, I hate american toilets and bathrooms.

    hi. ich sehe grade das du aktuell in Südkorea warst. Ich werde Ende April eine Woche Japan und eine Woche Korea mit zwei Freunden bereisen. Hast du ausser dem Nationalpark andere gute Tipps für Südkorea? DMZ Touren finden leider nicht statt.
    Letzten Herbst war ich bereits zwei Wochen in Japan und fand es super. damals war ich im Fuonaka onsen, was aufgrund der Tatsache dass es nicht aufgestylt ist sehr cool war. Aber hättest du für Kyoto/Osaka nen anderen guten Tipp für ein Onsen, möglichst mit Outdoor Bereich? Wir werden leider keine Zeit haben dafür weit zu fahren

    • @MomentsWithNick
      @MomentsWithNick  7 лет назад

      Hi Thorsten,
      Danke fürs schauen und kommentieren.
      Wir waren vor allem an der Ostküste Südkoreas unterwegs. Sokcho mit dem Nationalpark war super, Gyeongju ist ebenfalls recht cool. Kann ich beides wärmstens empfehlen. Seoul und Busan sind natürlich ebenfalls klasse.
      In Kyoto und Osaka kenn ich leider keine Onsen. Ich glaube ein bisschen nördlich hat es einen Ort names Kurama Onsen. Möchte da bald mal hingehen. Weiss aber nicht ob der Outdoor Bereiche hat. Dann gäbe es noch den berühmten Arima Onsen in Kobe. Ist aber ebenfalls indoor dort. Also ich denke nicht das, was ihr sucht.
      Hoffe ich konnte ein bisschen weiterhelfen.

      MrWalker1000 because it’s quiet small and there is a lot of insects that get inside if your on a ground floor. But personally, I like that fact that they are small and minimalistic

    • @zainababdulrazzaq3544
      @zainababdulrazzaq3544 4 года назад

      MrWalker1000 everything really is a good quality. It’s just got something to do with the humidity and the environment of japan being near water and a lot of forests nearby. It’s not that surprising really that bugs would make their way in the house.

    Ich nehme mal stark an, dass die Haken deswegen da sind weil du wahrscheinlich nichts aufhängen darfst.
    In Japan sind die ja echt extrem mit sowas, also bevor du Nägel in die Wand haust check erstmal deinen Mietvertrag/ frag deinen Vermieter.
    Gibt es in Japan keine Powerstrips? Ich könnte mir gut vorstellen das die der Renner sind in einem Land in dem man anscheinend in wenigen Mietwohnungen was hängen darf. Ist ja auch etwas unsicher mit den Erdbeben je nachdem wo man lebt.
    Also falls du sowas wie Powerstrips findest kannst du die sicher verwenden um Poster aufzuhängen und es gibt auch welche mit Haken dran, falls du ein gerahmtes Bild aufhängen möchtest.
    Ok, das mit der Lüftung ist schon komisch...

    those wires from 2.35 can be used for plants and pictures basiclly everything that can be put on a wall that requires you drilling holes. simply put it's to avoid too much damage to the appartment should you decide on moving so they don't need to spend to much time on fixing things that will cost only time till the place can be rented out again, i had that in the last 2 places i lived
