      Congrats on owning one of these great dive watches... I still love the incredible lume on this watch. I often take a powerful flashlight and charge the lume for a few seconds and place it on my nightstand to check the time in the middle of the night.

    That rubber strap is unwearable for me. A few hours and I am done with it. I changed it out with adapter for the lug and a stainless steel bracelet. I am very pleased with the strap conversion. The ring just below the bezel is for looks on the Ecozilla but was actually functional on the Autozilla version from years ago. One last thing is that I bought a small crystal magnifier, similar to a Rolex, and used UV glue to attach it over the date window. I bought the magnifier at Esslinger. The date is now much more readable with old eyes.

      Thanks for the tips on the upgrades, it sounds like an even cooler looking watch now, and the citizens always needs help in the date viewing area.

    I bought this Aqualand after seeing your review and now this watch has replaced my Oris Aquis Depth Gauge. The depth gauge is more legible and accurate, and having the skeletonize minute hand, as to not interfere with the aux hands, was so well thought out. I cannot praise the rubber strap enough. It is reminiscent of Apple's strap, which is pangs me to say, but Apple makes the best rubber strap in the watch industry. It is mind-boggling that no other watch company, besides Citizen, has duplicated that strap. The only drawback is the mineral crystal.

      I'm glad that you found the video useful. It is a very well thought out design.. , no wonder the watch won a Japanese design award.
      I like the strap also, Citizen makes some great silicon straps for many of their divers.
      I also wish it had a Sapphire crystal.

    22:22 i know you meant meters lol.
    Anyhow this watch is fantastic for sport divers . 95% of all dives take place at 40 meters or less due to thing getting really complex once you get passed that number so I get why it only goes up to 70 . this watch is designed for sport divers in mind.

      @WristwatchObsession  3 года назад +3

      haha., yes meters not feet, I often have one of those in each of my videos... It's good to see people are paying attention! Right, definitely an actual dive watch for diving. A little large for desk diving, the fit and finish though is amazing as usual for the Japanese made Citizens. The lum too is crazy good that is also very useful for actual being deep under water.

    I wanted to get this watch but it is too big for my 6.5" wrist. I have the older Aqualand chronograph eco-drive model BJ2000-09E that I got back in 2003. That is a gorgeous watch by way.

      It’s a matter of taste of course and this is a monster but I have a 6.5” wrist too and wear a Citizen Promaster Aqualand BN2040-17X. I just like it so much. I am going to buy a Citizen Chronograph Promaster Marine BJ2169-08E too. This is a beast but I just love it. 😉. Just because we have slim wrists should exclude us from wearing beautiful dive watches 😉

    The only people that complain about low battery life are those who do not understand how to charge on properly. I've done many videos on this and also blogs based upon info from Citizen.

    • @WristwatchObsession
      @WristwatchObsession  3 года назад

      Exactly.. I 've read many complaints about ECO drive watches not working and I can tell by what they've written that they don't understand the time it takes to charge the watch with the light used.. one person said, and this is typical, that they put the watch in a well lit room all day for a few days.. not in direct sun.. as you know under indirect light or artificial light it would take like 800 hours to charge the watch.. also, through a window sunlight is reduced also so it takes about twice as long as outside direct sun.. I have about a dozen solar watches, between Citizen and G-Shock and I put them indoors in sunlight a couple times a month for about 5 hrs each time and I can tell by the ones that have power meters that its working well...
      I live in Maine, and other people that live in Northern climates with reduced sun also should be doing something like what I"m doing especially in the winter.. people spend so much time indoors in our modern world and not out in sun too much, they need to charge their watch on purpose sometimes..
      I'm sure you know all of this, but for people reading our comments I hope they learn more about solar watches.
      Thanks for the great comment!

      @@WristwatchObsession Hi there, yes u are def right with your charging regime. Yeah i've had over 20 years now with some earlier diving models and they are still going, albeit with the bezels missing from too much sand over the years but the watches are still keeping good time and never a new battery replacement because i cooked them LOL. Yeah Maine, you're in the right place for plenty of sun. I noticed too that some manuals from Citizen for example really emphasise a good charging regime compared to other models, for example the BN2026 Aqualand, they say to keep it fully charged after every dive, u know as well as i do this takes some diligence but it's worth it in the long run. I liked ur vid because it was a no BS one about the Eco Drives, I've been getting fed up with all of the BS from people who have no idea and just complain how bad they are.

      @@BushCampingTools Yes, my last many years as well, I have a military style field citizen with all Arabic numerals, screw down crown & back, 3 hands and date, all the lume still glows great, and running perfectly since 2004.
      your right about the time required for each, my G-Shocks squares with blueTooth & multi band 6 drain pretty quickly so I shut off the auto time connect feature that comes on every 6 hrs and just connect once in a while otherwise it's diff to keep them charged in winter.

    • @WristwatchObsession

      The watch will be fine down to 200m but the depth gauge will peg at the 70m mark. When the depth gauge is reset it will go back to 0 as normal.

    Why is the date so small

    • @WristwatchObsession
      @WristwatchObsession  7 месяцев назад +1

      Citizen has a bad habit of making small and hard to read date windows on many of their watches.
      That said though, this is a real dive watch not a desk diver, so the date isn't too important since most divers don't need to know the date while they are under water so it's not too important on this watch. They should have just not included it if it's going to be too difficult to see.

    I hate dive watches with depth meters and buttons. Just one crown please and no depth gauge sticking out. We're mostly all desk divers and it's overkill. Lovely watch othwerwise and it's a shame the older model without the depth gauge is discontinued.
