Watching this brought back memories of my 1996 pan we toured all over Europe two up never missed a beat. As I reached my late sixties, sadly it had to go as my right hip gave up the ghost but I still miss it
@@petermoore-x1h sympathise with you, neck vertebrae problems have steered me towards a 700 Deauville 😔 Sounds like our little review brought back some good memories 🤓👍
Yay! 1st! An excellent review of a splendid bike Mr Jon. I rode a Pan European for AA/Vodafone Road Watch giving traffic reports on the radio for a year, although it was the 1300cc version. I did around 25,000 miles and it didn't miss a beat, she started first time in all weathers and was very, very comfortable. I have done some sums on your stated 5 -7 l per 100km (because that means nothing to my small brain) and that averages out at 47 miles to the gallon, (an easier measurement to understand, I think) and that's an extremely respectable figure with full luggage and two up, and that'll give you a tank range* of around 280 miles. You will not get those figures if you ride like a fool, so a great testament to your riding ability and respect for a pillion. For those that were thinking... Not *that* sort of tank. 😂 Not *that* sort of range. 😂 Well done Mr Jon. keep them coming mate.
I owned an ST1300 for nine years after buying it new in 2012. I loved it both as a touring bike and a bike to ride for the fun of it. In my ownership it never averaged less than 50 mpg and usually managed nearer 55. Occasionally I would get 57/58. In all the time I owned it I got it serviced as required and replaced the tyres and brake pads as required. Nothing ever went wrong or needed replacing. I traded it in when I moved to live in France because it wasn’t suited to the D roads that I use when travelling around and to be honest it was too fast, every time I overtook something I entered licence losing territory. My current Honda, a 500X is just as much fun despite having about one third of the power and my annual mileage has doubled.
Excellent video. Your bike looks mint. Love final conclussion of what it takes to be a good bike, certainly not the TFT... Enjoy your classic sports tourer Sir😊
@@ferrolwindsurfer 🤓👍 when something is good it’s just…….GOOD (Years ago I had a Volvo 240 Station wagon/ Estate car 7 seats, 2litre engine built like a tank, uber reliable that was the same kind of good).
I agree with all I’ve heard so far (I’m half way through) but I hope that you add a very important fact somewhere; the ST1100 Pan European is a great touring bike but the ST1300 with its shorter wheelbase and it’s engine with more power and more torque is even better, it’s a really great spores tourer.🙂
@davidmatthews3093 Mmmmm I have yet to ride the 1300, several of my riding friends have them. I have purposely not mentioned the 13 in the review of the 11 as I cannot comment on something I have not ridden

Another excellent video, pity the bike isn’t a Red one cause they go faster

13.24. Standing quarter mile, not 0-100kmh.
