I like how he was lovingly quizzing her as a spectator, praising her as a father and professionally guiding her as the world class chef that he is all at the same time! I want to eat at Le Gavroche now.
A very proud father watching his daughter cook (no pressure!!). Then Monica walks into the kitchen, tastes the risotto and calmly says, it's better than your dad's. Fab!!!!!
This was great to see chef. Loved the proud dad moment of the daughter doing something better than dad could lol. Also Monica at the end was the icing on the cake.
I have known many children with very skilled and talented parents but this girl obviously paid attention and created her own form of the art, a wonderful thing to see.
what a man this michel is. put his cooking career aside. ive never seen someone be so honest with life in general. he says everything he thinks in a polite humble way. asks even his daughter how a risotto should be done. amazing. respect to you chef roux !
aww his daughter is such a lovely pure soul.....blushin n no one can tell dat shes michell rouxs daughter...i mean being in the shadow of such a powerful name...she has held her own identity...n michell ws beaming with pride when she was cookin....amazing...
Excellent, and once again I marvel at seeing how two French brothers have created a dynasty in England, which continues today, up to the present generation. Belle cuisine.
But Ramen can also beade gourmet. ;-) As for Risotto? Marrow is easy to procure and work with. Rice is able to be used with pretty much any; from Long Grain, to Jasmine, to Bismati. Some are better to use than others, but you'd be surprised what you may create. I recommend looking at Marco Pierre White's take on Risotto, which is simple, yet very effective. :)
I like the fact that a chef cooks and agrees with his daughter`s advise and letting her cook her way , well done Michel, you`re gorgeous. As a father, as a son, and a a great chef. Thumbs up.
The pride, love in his voice and words for his daughter, their technical culinary knowledge and skills. Class , wonderful. Eat your heart out Ramseys' swearing and bullying.
Absolutely brilliant. Michel is the number one man and Monica is great chef in her own right, if you see her at work its plain to see who she learnt her skills from.
you can only imagine the memories she had of watching her father and grandfather (Michel Roux) cooking, just total pinnacle of cooking. Imagine their holiday dinners...
Why is she sooo freakinnn cuteee... especially her smile... id come to the restaraunt just to see her smile and speak...forget the food... Roux is a lucky man... what a lovely daughter... you can tell she listens to her parents... i wish i was born earlier and met her earlier... would have married her
I made a burrito from aldi whilst watching this. It had rice in it, I put it in the oven, Done! So basically the same set of skill levels, required to prepare two different and remarkable dishes. Well done Emily.
What an amazing Father and remarkably talented daughter combination How lucky they both are I think he is probably the best in the world so her future is secure due to her own talent and genes
I think I enjoy this for the chemistry between father and daughter and his unique humility considering the height to which he has risen. He fails to be entrapped by his own ego and invests so much in the next generation. The gentle humour at the end, the way he is outnumbered by the women, speaks volumes in a charming lovely way that is so counter to this bitter, twisted, entitled brat culture generation. Michel was once asked, ‘have you got any recipes for a moody teenager?’ and his response was that when he was a teenager he just got out there and worked.
Chef Roux, My team and I enjoyed very much your legacy and the opportunity you gave us to learn and keep the flame of love in our profession. Cordially, Culinary arts academy at Lake Worth Community High. Florida USA
We were lucky enough to be able to spend the evening of October 9th at Le Gavroche where we had the most delectable meal we have ever had! We delighted in watching some of the videos when we got home but we were also delighted to be able to meet Michel in person the night we dined. Truly a once in a lifetime experience - which we hope to be able to do again in this lifetime! Love the "Family" business - Emily is the new star! And yes...her risotto is better than her dad's!
She is absolutely beautiful ! My God what perfect teeth she has. If I were working in a professional kitchen, I'd probably have a dentist subscription. ....and a diet doctor one :) Keep up the good work !
Michel is a great ambassador to our trade. He comes from premium stock following his father and uncles footsteps. But as well as a mentor you've got to respect him for his parenting skills. Great video guys
Damn, she is good. Well, hardly a surprise growing up in this family I guess, but still! There is something in her style, how she does things calmly and casually in perfection which shows what a set of skill she has. Wouldn't be surprised if her potential outshines her old man someday.
Heart warming video. It reminds me of Kenny Shopsin cooking with his daughter in 'I Like Killing Flies' all be it a little more crude but equally as cute.
So lovely to watch. They look great together. A lovely father and daughter relationship..... By the way personally I like the truffle a bit thinner. I run hot and cold with adding cream or mascarpone. Sometimes I fancy it sometimes not. All depends on how wet I want the sauce. At the moment i am veering towards adding it in a spring vegetable risotto... But tomorrow????. I heard that in restaurants they often cook the risotto in two stages without any loss of flavour or texture, thus allowing them to get the order out quickly. Anyone know at what stage they do this, and how to store in between?
In a good restaurant they don't cook in two phases.. But in some restaurant rice is frst toasted and cooked with stock.. Then kept.. Later on order they heat and add cheese
I envy them too!My dad was a chef and I became a chef myself...We both share the passion for cooking like my Chinese grandfather...But the sad things is,we're not in good terms and I tried my best to make him proud of me but he never acknowledged my passion for cooking. Now I'm studying to become a nurse but I would definitely pursue to become a restaurant owner someday with the help of my wonderful boyfriend who is a chef too... :D
Presumably the Italian guy that she's currently married to and opened a restaurant with in Notting Hill last year is the same guy. It's definitely worked out for them, but it would likely be very hard for it not to work out if you're a Roux and you're opening a restaurant. Property in Notting Hill though; how much did that set them back.
It’s a very clever recipe with the bone marrow chopped down and hidden in the risotto. That was a very good looking risotto. I think Monica is telling the truth that it’s better.
As a french cook Michel is really to freakin' complicated for me. The daughter does it right. Simple dish. Made to perfection. Michel, I perfectly understand why you are very, very proud of her...
2 things.. First, add the rice before the wine, coat the rice in all that lovely fat then deglaze and start the cooking. Second, season as you go starting with shallots, then rice and so on. perhaps less than usual as she stated the bone marrow is a touch salty. That said, this looks an amazing dish, substituting butter with the marrow is a fantastic idea. looking forward to trying this recipe, and will probably follow her instructions just to be proved wrong :)
Ola Emily o nervo faz parte da aprenzidagem responsavel. Voce esta com responsabilidade seguindo os passos da familia Roux. Estamos aqui, aguardando teus livros. Parabens Emily
That would be a perfect cook-off for a competition to benefit a very worthy charity such as one that assists disabled veterans in the UK. Imagine the publicity that would bring for fundraising purposes.
As Chef's go, he's one of the nice guys. But he instincts could here couldn't help but offer suggestions on what he would have done. And she was looking at him with an expression of....."whose cooking this risotto Dad!"
I like how he was lovingly quizzing her as a spectator, praising her as a father and professionally guiding her as the world class chef that he is all at the same time! I want to eat at Le Gavroche now.
And your forget just pulling her legs about her italian boy friend :)
So much different from the Ego Ramsay and his daughter. No technical culinary skills, no class, rudeness for views .
It`s very sweet to see, how Michel is both a father, a teacher, and the great Michel Roux Jr, all at the same time.
A very proud father watching his daughter cook (no pressure!!). Then Monica walks into the kitchen, tastes the risotto and calmly says, it's better than your dad's. Fab!!!!!

What a delightful father and daughter pair they are.
This was great to see chef. Loved the proud dad moment of the daughter doing something better than dad could lol. Also Monica at the end was the icing on the cake.

Such an accomplished chef generously wrapped in a doting dad.
She seems embarrassed but it's so cute and she seems very skilled at making that dish.
@ and you must be better than her, right?
she seems kiddy and spoily being shy and slightly arrogant.. she doesnt cook it good
@@Anudorini-Talah it's nothing like that at all. Her father is a master chef and she feels sheepish about "teaching" him to cook this dish.

God bless the roux family. They are classic in England and have made many top chefs. I wish nothing but the best for them all
Watching this, eating my ramen noodles, quietly weeping
Ramen rules.
I feel your pain
Weep not. Try the dish and use chopped truffles or a good truffle oil. Even on a budget, it's possible to upgrade from Ramen.
Same here
But Ramen can also beade gourmet. ;-)

Love to to see how proud Michel Roux is. They are so sweet together, and she is an amazing cook, probably thanks by her gentle and nice father.
It is always good for a father to know when to shut up!!1....That was a wonderful father daughter cooking experience. Thank you to you all
That's the sweetest cooking video I've seen. What a great mentor he makes... I'd love to spend a day learning from him.
it shows how much he loves his daughter :)
That was as charming as it was instructive. Thank you.

Ive just started cooking with my kids because I have a massive passion for food but clearly I don't have your skills or knowledge but I love it
"I'm not going to say a word." - you don't need to, chef- the fact that you're continuing to eat her risotto says it all.

I know! Isn't the difference in style between him and Ramsay such a difference? Unbelievable. This is a chef that's enjoyable to watch.

When he glances up after the first taste, you can tell he's really proud of her dish.
Dad is very proud of daughter.
Dad: Am I doing ok?
Daughter: It is raw! Where is the lamb sauce?
Dad: Uhm who is your inspirator again?
This was more than amusing to watch their dynamic lol
I’m totally like that with my daughter. She gets an idea and I’m constantly trying to add my 2 cents, but she too politely ignores me :)

Yes her own talent shows it's footprint. Not easy following in big footsteps, and she pulls it off.
