prices don't matter when there's nothing worth buying anyway
Too true.
Ace combat 8...
All the games nowadays are dogpoo
I'm pretty hyped for Wolverine....
So true
I'm still spending most of my gaming time playing a couple games that came out years ago instead of investing in new games.
Based. I just bought Devil May Cry 5 and The Witcher 3. Now it's just time that I need...
I have a ps4 and a bunch of games I ain't playing.
I dont even play games from this decade just league and dayz
I'm still playing mount and blade warband and fallout 3 😂
Same, just found out how to emulatr and playing through old games.
They see it necessary to raise prices, I see it as necessary to stop buying their products.
Exactly! 💯
Wait until the games go on sale. You can save on consoles as well on Black Friday sale but not to the same extent.
I bought a used Switch pro controller on ebay for $40. The controller feels new. All buttons work.
Nintendo hasn't got my money since the Palworld lawsuit, and I haven't bought a Sony console since the PS2. I've mainly went to PC, and until Christmas I was playing on a 8 year old PC.
On god
The indies were pumping out games at reasonable prices while the big AAA studios were just being greedy.
I started gardening. That’s how bad the gaming industry is.
Smart move and will pay off during the coming famine.
I grow fig trees instead of gaming lol
Gaming is fine - people just don't know where to get good games ;-)
And no - I'm not talking about piracy!
NOOOOO! Big plant got to you!
There's literally never been a better time to be a gamer.
I don’t buy games on day one anymore. I wait until it goes on sale.
Wait for it to get cracked, see if its good.
Depending on quality, buy or wait for it to go on sale.
If it aint good dont buy it.
And I say that while working on my own game. Make devs/corps earn your money
10% No
20% No
50% No
90% YES!
I have never paid 70 bucks for a game. I always wait for it to go on sale. The most ill pay for games is 50.
Or wait till the bad bug/glitch/features are sorted
So day 2....
Most reasonable people just wait for games to go on sale.
Or wait for a used copy!
I was blessed with a Tears of the Kingdom second hand after it had JUST come out for only 20 dollars 👌
The benefits of working retail and talking directly with selling customers 😁
most reasonable people just copy digital files for games that aren't worth your dollar
Yup. Half the things I own were 80% off.
It's USUALLY a matter of hours these days....
Intergalactic is going on sale before release, I'm sure ... 🤣
The problem is the cost of living is so high, right now. Why making game is way higher than before... Cost of life is so high. Thats why indie games is the way.... it is usually one dev making the whole thing, so it is only one guy in the basement to pay to make the game.
“This is our punishment for not liking Concord” 😂
Hahahaha
no, this is Playstation subscriber punishments. my 12 years old cousin want PS5 and we (me and my uncle) give him laptop, because it can run PS5 game he want, my uncle monitoring his activity because kids with internet should not leave alone
@denibraja7899 One of the only times "we have X at home," was at least functionally true.
@Tsuki0ni f that age verification stuff, "you want to watch porn? try your best to convince your dad" thats what i told to my cousin in front of my uncle, and he got even more restriction playing laptop
I mean, Concord was already overpriced for a good game. And it was not a good game.
So, we got this punishment before the game even came out. They can not blame this on us.
But we all know they will, anyway.
All i buy are older games on sale.
🤓
pretty much the same.
All my favorite games of all time are mostly old mainstream games or modern indie games like Celeste hollow knight need for Speed carbon dead cells undertale half life portal left 4 dead
I can afford to buy every new game but I wait for sales, bundles and play games on emulators
Grabbed one of my favorites a few days ago for $4.99. I refuse to dish out dozens more even when I can afford it. Just hold off and wait because it will go on sale.
Steam Users: another day, another 90% off deal
I will buy when its $2.49 lol
Exactly. The people complaining about game prices are the ones rewarding ridiculous game prices. Vote with your freaking wallets, people! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@scubasteve2189👏🏻
Another day, another game rotten on my "shelf"
Yea as much as 70 sucks, we should really be focusing this energy towards the real problem, the hardware. I bought my PC in september and it costed 4k, its now up to 7k which is ridiculous considering i only have a 5080 and 64gb ram. Mind you, 128gb was originally 400, and now it hovers around +/-$2500 and even up to 3k.. ps5 just got a price raise.. And lets not forget who knows what will happen to the steam machine. How can you play if you cant even afford the hardware for it.
An Old 45 yrs guy like me went into retrogaming long time ago after covid....saw this coming
The fact that a controller is the same price as a game is absolutely dumb as hell.
They used to be more expensive than the games, controllers have stayed roughly the same price, I remember early 2000s a controller would cost £50-60 and games were £35-45. However controllers were more durable back then the thumb sticks lasted years before drift set in
@hismajestylordsmenkhare5878early 2000s games where £60+ it was stage 2010s that games dropped for a while to £40 and at the same time the rise of the micro transaction happend and then slowly over the following 5-8 years the process crept back up to 70+ and then 2018/19 they jumped to £80+
@hismajestylordsmenkhare5878I couldn't agree more stick drift is so damn annoying and it maybe takes less than a year for it to kick in you would think for the price you are paying they would have something in place to prevent that after all these years more so for console controllers.
Tried getting some replacement switch 1 controllers recently and was appalled at the prices
always been the case as long as i can recall....ps1 was like that
Worse case scenario we all finally get to playing through our massive backlog of games we got but never completed.
im currently in my worst case scenario lol im finally going back to beat tears of the kingdom and also replay a bunch of games i like but never went back after beating them like bg3 and monster hunter rise
ive been doing this for over a year now so much more worth it to replay great games and games you have but havent tried than to risk paying £80 for some unreal slop thats just graphics and nothing else.
Iv already played everything
@r.8902yeah me and the boys clocked a bunch of PS2 games we all had over the past few weekends (san Andreas, NFS most wanted, some Tekken unlocking characters etc). Honestly way more enjoyable to the point that we don't think we will be plugging the ps5 back in anytime soon
Worst case is your hardware is kaput in 10 years and you can now only rent consoles or PC's
There are literally 500+ hours indie games to play, that cost 5 dollars
I'll play crimson desert, seven days to die, enshrouded, sengoku dynasty, the division 2 etc
there are also 500+ AAA and AA games that get DRASTICALLY price reduced after a year or two
I have like 40 days of Crusader Kings 3 played. not proud of this, I was shocked when I saw it
for sure. You CAN go the whale route, but you can also have a really good time barely spending any money. My general rule is if it's a single-player game I don't buy it for a couple years (or however long it takes to get to a big discount), you get it for pennies on the dollar AND you get all the additional content + bugfixes. Win win win
+++ STEAM SALES ... like rly doesnt take long for anything to b on a dev sale for 75_95 %off
10 hrs game for 80$ should be criminal offense
Game prices should have dropped when they didn't have to put them on discs. Literally turned it from a manufacturing job to a copy paste job.
Exactly, price is a scams
The cost of pressing the discs was arguably inexpensive, it was global distribution and yes, it should have dropped the cost of games by 30% minimum.
If the government wasn't continuously printing new money to pay the new people that grow up and enter the workforce thus resulting in ever increasing inflation then yes the prices should drop. Prices staying the same is kinda fine but they damn sure shouldn't be climbing when they've stopped producing physical media and dont have to pay for shipping. I suppose storage and distribution over servers could parallel physical distribution via truck to store though. I wouldn't have expected the prices to drop ever though, inflation being what it is means they were always going to go up, was just a matter of how fast and by how much.
Cost of everything else has gone up dummy. What are devs making now compared to 10/20/30 years ago? It's amazing honestly how much gamers cry. Every single other thing you buy has increased in price 2-5x in the last 3 decades. AAA games are just now going to $70 after being universally $60 for almost 2 decades lmao. People even bought $50/60 gamed in the 90s.
@dangerousfelonfanboy detected
So what I'm hearing is companies like Sony want to sell lemonade to one customer for $100 rather than selling to 100 customers for $1.
Going after the Ferrari business model of high priced luxury with low sales numbers, but that only works for them due to exclusivity. Anyone can buy a console or video games, they are mass produced.
Yes of course. The revenue is $100 either way but they only need one cup and enough lemonade to fill that one cup. Revenue stays the same but expenses decrease so profits increase
@hughhaslem4978 Thing is there is no physical goods cost, it's all digital code sent over the internet. And it isn't $100 vs $1 more like $50 vs $100, and they could have 5x the sales at $50.
@hughhaslem4978which makes sense in a physical economy, but games shifted hard to digital to cut the expenses just like you described. The beauty of digital is the ability to scale. You can sell $1 lemonade to 200 more people on top of the big spenders because the cups are free and enough lemonade is made up for everyone already
@jjay350Ferrari also has a hundred or more years of prestige behind it to help facilitate that. The closest gaming has to that is Nintendo, and theyre generally considered decent but not earth shattering most games
“Like… if you’re a broke boy, just say that.”
-Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo
I'm broke. If these companies want me to buy there system, they better push and beg Trump to give us $2000. Back in COVID money. I spent on Switch Lite and Dominos.
Sounds like something pokimane would say 😆
@adriangomez4579no shit
@cedenoa001I was being sarcastic of course I know
I think we’ve been telling them that. It’s just they dont listen lol
They are ..70% of ppl wait now for crimson sale …
I sure am waiting for a sale too
How did you know i have it on my wishlist? 😨 are you a prophet!? 😨😨
More like waiting for the torrent.
It’s not that I just can’t afford to buy games, they’re just not worth the price anymore.
You are not the target audience... for any product in capitalism. Not anymore.
It has gotten so bad that concurrent players on free weekend pass often goes DOWN.
They aren't worth your time, let alone any amount of money.
@gabrielseiffert2042 indie games exist BECAUSE of capitalism.
There's just a very weird discrepancy in quality when a $10m game like Expedition 33 can out-quality and out-compete a $400m game like concord... It's just how the world works, I guess. The standard that the already successful, rich gaming/big tech, had set for themselves as the standard, instead of what it should actually be like... Humanity, in a lot of ways, is de-evolving, and the big tech, as of now, being so crucial to part of our society, has stagnated to simply be inefficient, partially deluded, unskilled, demanded more than they should be getting, and lack the passion to make a product that the consumers want or need.
tldr; they're just delusional and corrupted. We can't do anything about it even if we do try to boycott them coz most of them are already a million-trillion dollar companies.
@gabrielseiffert2042 you see zero games coming from cuba, iran, etc, and they're all huge communist civilizations. In fact, it games were made in communist/socialist state, the game would've been about their supreme leader, praising their government, a means of propaganda (since games and media uploaded to their internet is state controlled and supervised)... Or even the fact that most communist state lives in constant state of poverty and being unable to afford using the internet or electricity...
Capitalism isn't a problem here, you can't just generalize this;
When a $10m game like Expedition 33 exists and wins nearly everything in the game awards, lol.
You can buy a second hand book for a dollar. Walk away. Make them fight for your custom.
plus indie games have been where its at in the last few years. i'd buy stardew valley 100x over compared to buying even one AAA game
A book costs nothing to write. Google Docs is free and libraries access is free. Go develop a game and sell it for a price that satisfies gamers. LMAO
I have hundreds of games in my Steam and Epic accounts, most from Humble Bundle or free. Gaming costs nothing.
this is the power of and why we use capitalism. it *works.*. good luck young men.
@user-u6t4kgodot is free
Now’s the perfect time to go back and enjoy the classics from 2000-2010 👌
More expensive than now 😆 🤣...
Try Mike Tyson's Punch-Out from the NES. Obviously, emulation is the best method, but there are nearly 50 years of gaming to dip into.
No, go back and enjoy the classics from the 1980s-1990s.
@andyauthor2007those are unplayable bro 😆 🤣. Trust me, i tried to go back and play those. I'm currently selling them now because they are unplayable 😆 🤣
It's Payne, he's coming down the stairs, shoot the bastard!
In before console loans are advertised by banking institutions, similar to vehicle loans.
you vote with your wallet. if they die they die.
"Millions (of dollars of investment banker corpo money) must go" typeshit
Exactly!
They always find a way to bill the people for their failures. There’s no peaceful way out of this.
Yea, there is, we let em commit Seppuku
@InternetHydrathe peaceful way out is to drop gaming for a while and pick up another hobby
Vote with your wallets people
What wallet? .-.
Yes. Very simple but powerful word.
That’s been gamers biggest problem, they can’t control themselves
Yeah just play old games on old platforms until prices come down. Can't have played them all!
I lowkey hate seeing your comments. It's always just the most room temp IQ things to say with an anti woke twist and the people that follow you eat it tf up lmao
Thank god for steam sales then. I stopped buying into their "new normal" price tag of $70 a while ago because most games arent worth that price.
For real.. like I don't care who you are I'm not spending more than 20 bucks on Elden ring or cyberpunk in a world where that should be the standard.. they wanted to charge money for Concord 💀💀💀
me too, thats why i support CDPR pricing
@KalenTomlinson at least they refunded
Nah the rich wouldn't bother with gaming. Unless it is nintendo pokeslop merch, they have a lot of option in entertainment other than sitting around playing some weird ahh nerdy shi
Yep. Most of em weren't even worth $60. If there's not a decent sale, pirate before you support.
41:31 this is like the concept about shoes - if you have enough money to buy one really nice pair of shoes that will last you for years, that's ultimately cheaper than buying a new crappy pair of shoes every few months when they wear out. But you have to have the $200 to spend on shoes in the first place instead of $30 or $50 two or three times a year. Most people can't afford that much at once, even though it would cost way less in the long run.
"Hmm...people can't afford things....what should we do?"
"Raise the prices."
Well, with some you’re on the Internet and people can bullshit, I wouldn’t take every comment at face value but back when the 64 was around some were $100 and that was in the 90s
@mjkman9585"Raise the prices"
games are a wine mommy's babysitter. They rely on them to keep their brats occupied. Mommy's credit card will always buy games no matter how expensive they are.
It's the EU/UN type's de-industrialization program. Every industry is seeing this. And government service fees and taxes too. the country I live in just increased it's visa fee as much as ~10x. Focus on the companies misses the point. The largest company boards are now heavily influenced if not outright controlled by the big financial managers who are completely on board with that agenda. What their end agenda is, we can speculate. But that they are deliberately stripping the average person of wealth and freedom should beyond doubt. This is NOT your old politics and bureaucracy. It is something totally different.
You're talking about N64 and also the reason the PS1 was way more successful: You could buy most of their games for $20 by waiting a bit, which would be around $45 nowadays, not counting piracy which was basically for free, since back then the bult-in DRM was easy to get around and you could easily buy an used PS1 from some bored rich dude with a lot of games relatively cheap.
"Some of you may not afford games, but that's a sacrifice we're willing to make"
Sekiro has infinite replay value.
@smelltheglove2038Ehhh I don’t know about that. After platinuming it, I just don’t wanna touch it anymore.
That’s usually me with games.
@smelltheglove2038I still haven't beat that damn game 💀
@smelltheglove2038 i finished it twice and when I went for the shura ending I was already burned out
SOME of you MAY die (of boredom), but that is a sacrifice...I am willing to make (would you like a battlepass?)
Remember, if buying isn't owning then pirating isn't stealing
It will just end up, the rich paying the rich for their product and the poor paying subscription to access all of those games, and then AAA games will require a higher tier subscription+ gold.
What an original comment to farm likes
@davidhan635it’s like a hive mind
Tell em brother
a mouth is a mouth right? and 20 bucks is 20 bucks.
Just wait till they add online sports and casino gambling to these systems.
Maybe there is a lot of 100k households but 90% of them are swimming in debt
100k doesn't seem like a lot unless it's one person working
Not to mention that’s only two 60k incomes, not that hard to do
True, but at least Israel will get a 60Billion$ Future City built with US taxpayer$ via project SuNRise.
I have a $120k home between 2 people working. No kids. We dont go anywhere. We dont do anything. We dont eat out. No student loans. I buy tech sometimes and thats it. We are in debt. Our options for saving money is a pasta every night diet and not heating my home. If it were 15 years ago, we'd be living in luxury.
@BPrime-g7ndepends if u got a mortgage and 2 new cars
there are sooooo many old games i still have to play
Also you don't have to spend much on them with these platforms when you can play on steam for way less
You should name some. Im also going back and playing lots of old games
@solarogx7476 ut04, serious sam, brood war, homm3, turtle WoW, torchlight 2, grim dawn, wc3.... there are so many
And don't forget fantastic sites like myabandonware. DECADES of games. Some older than most of our parents. Free. Game studios could all die out today and we'd probably never catch up.
I still have games in the wrapper 😂
im still playing games from 2016
For younger people who are only getting into gaming, the number of games released in the past 30 years is so high that any new games will have to stand out, be exceptional for people to see it worthy of their money.
Games are so expensive now that 80% of all of my games were bought only after a 50% or more discount
The normal versions of games now cost as much as the special editions used to
lol cyberpunk $70
I've been gaming for decades and that has not been my experience.
@RichDun33? What? Yes it is lmao. Deluxe editions used to be like 70-80 now base games are 70 some are even going up to 79.99 for the base. With deluxe editions being 90-100. So yes that is the case.
@RichDun33nice👍
@dylanirsik4011lol calm down. I was goin' the other way. It's worse.
Online gaming has become our downfall.
24:37 jokes on you im still on super nintendo
Cant relate i got old games still to play.
Yep. Also I just bought Dying Light 1 for Switch for $4.99 on the Eshop sale
Man i've been playing increasingly more old games than new since about 2013 and I still have a backlog.
cant relate im Jack Sparrow
Yupp.. 🎯
My backlog 'untouch games' over 650 games across platform : PC, PS5, Switch 1-2.. and always buy games from Steam sales.. 😅
I have enough games for years.. 😇
I can't relate either, I get all my games for free from fitgirl :d
McDonald's to Marathon devs soon: "Welcome home."
🐸🍟
"I used to be a head developer."
"Just put the fries in the bag."
Marathon is a good game!
Hell. People at McDonald's make like 30$ an hour now in some states. People can't afford their food anymore either. 😂😂.
@TeamDeanlerGaming😂😂😂
Fitgirl Repacks FTW.
Nothing is more expensive than "Free".
Not the way I do it.
Except for all of the prices above 0, ofcourse 😂
Video Game Devs are going to f around and find out what 1985 was like.
I knew it was over once we still had to download 200+ gb even after buying the disc version of a game.
True!
That's because some games, extremely very few, are just dl codes and links to the game. Ms owned games are notorious for this. But the mass majority of games are still on the disc and very playable after installing
@minarum Its because the videogame workforce is not optimizing their videogames due to time constraints or lost knowledge. They are relying on more powerful/expensive hardware to carry the weight of heavier models/textures/engine.
That is why I stopped buying the disc version of games, it became some lame DRM where I need to stick some pointless discs in the drive.
@JordansPlaystation4that's fine. But that doesn't give them an excuse to put a 10mb download link on a disc to install the game, especially when the game doesn't even take up the full disc size. Live service and mmo games sure. No excuse for non live service and mmo games. Take cod for instance, starfail, Indiana Jones, the New doom, etc. No reason those games aren't on the disc.
First time in a while I’m glad I bought that ps5 at launch.
"you will own nothing and be happy and watch ADs" -
Impending boycott.
watch on the Brave OS and never see an ad on anything.
If the price was set to match the quality of the game they would owe us money
payin' $70 bucks for an interactive cutscene I won't finish vs $5 to $20 for some indie game with literally infinite replayability
we've become paying alpha playtesters at this point. and by "we" i mean people who buy new games, not me lol
Amen
They have wasted 2 decades and billions chasing high end graphics and realism that is neither practical, nor plays well. They stopped well thought out and implemented development, as well as getting rid of their game testers and QA departments. No one out there today has a clue how to optimize anything, it is just jack up the system requirement to make up for their garbage programing. No one gives a shit about photorealist graphics as 5 fps. They forgot 20+ years ago games need to play well, feel good to play, and be a fun bit of escapism.
@TwiztedFingers.. meanwhile..Nintendo rubs its fingers together.. Excellent Smithers🙏🏿
It's the season passes, constant dlc packs, live service fees, gpu prices, console prices, etc. If the entire gaming experience was covered by the $70 game price, that would be fine. But when it's $70 plus all the annual fees to play online... tough to justify the costs.
That predatory pricing and premium currency shenanigans don't help either.
Don't forget the rising costs on internet packages as well.
Next consoles are gonna be $1000 and games $100. Most of this has to do with RAM prices which you can blame solely on AI investment
@johnsonspark171from what I've seen, ram prices already been coming down and right now storage is goin' through the roof.
These days I just wait until they go on sale. Usually get like the ultimate edition of games with all dlc for like 30 or 40 bucks if you just wait a year
They want us to take out a mortgage on a ps5 now 💀
Iv gone back to my PS3 and I'm surprised and how many people are online
I want to do that myself but I need a new controller for it
(From some articles) :
+/- 2M players still online and play PS3 per-week..
Borderlands still has active players on ps3
@reatriver5dammn really ? Normally that's pretty lively
@MajikNinja-g7h if you have a controller, buy a new battery instead
I've got a crazy idea. Just don't buy it.
But they will because all of the streamers showing them what they can't afford but want.
@akronsbest9091I won't. At least not til it's several years old and 1/4 the price. If ever.
I love gaming, but I game on my phone and a first gen xbox 1 that was given to me now days. When they make them obsolete soon, I will just not play. I have no problem not giving communists/socialists my money.
I just wish they didn't get my taxes. And that they never got authority to devalue the dollar via printing and fraud.
And it would be nice if they weren't permitted education careers.
They shouldn't be near media, government, nor education.
It's pretty evident that is what the creators generally are. Why by a platform that promotes and funds them?
I bet people would shit bricks if they knew what the majority of the profit made from their spending on games went on to fund.
@akronsbest9091 Exactly. Ever since this fucking hobby went mainstream, people who are informed and serious about it have become a drop in the bucket to the mainstream casual masses who will just lap up whatever slop gets advertised to them.
Yeah, but NPCs gotta NPC. They can't think of anything else to do with their free time.
I think an asteroid is coming in under 10 years and they're milking us till the last second.
Asmongold looking like pre timeskip Santa
it's to get everyone on streaming subscription service.
Yeah I'm not doing that either.
The only subscription I have is with my internet provider.
6:20 - they were expensive, BUT they were also fully completed, fully fleshed out games which were fun, had replayability and the value was there. It wasn't $100 for the base game, $200 for the collector edition that gives you a skin and a free battle pass, and then a new battle pass to buy every 30-90 days on top of that, for a new version of old content.
Not necessarily. Been gaming for over 30 years, some of those games were worth your money, but many of those were still about 40 bucks and only 3 hours long and no online play back then. Not to mention that most of those games were a few hundred thousand to make, not 50 million plus now, unless it's a small indie game. It's not an 80 dollar game that bothers me, it's the fact that instead of it being a 20-hour game that's packed with quality and replay value, they create a bland open world with 200 hours of copy and paste filler while injecting it with politics and forcing me to play as an unlikable protagonist.
@Particle_Ghost 1000 % Agree!
Yeah, no.
How disingenuous do you wish this to be.
@Particle_Ghost yeah like, that's the part noone wants to say out loud, we put aside the price tag if we feel the game is giving us content that is worth our time, but games that are actually worth our time are so far and few between lately
"you should be used to not owning your games"
"you should be used to give them for free."
I predict a spike in activity in a certain bay of pirates.
Yo ho ho, the pirate life for me.
Do what you want cause a pirate is free. You are a pirate!
Yo-Ho, all together, hoist the colours high!
The lower and middle income households are literally being cut out of everything.
wealth inequality need to be fixed
nothing else matters
its cool if you earn more money if you started the buisness but if your buisness is successfull everyone who is contributing needs to get a share of the pie - its so simple really
Lol, i grew up on food donations and third hand gaming. Ive felt completely priced out my whole life.
I feel u
ROBE VIBES
It's not a price increase, they just want more money
I'm still playing ten year old games. Nothing new is good. Feels like a massive drought. I would buy new games if they were worth it. Sometimes I buy old games on sale.
Why aren't you investing that time into a huge based hhhhuwite family?
I feel like ya ain't really lookin', there's so many new bangers sometimes it feels like I'm drowning in em.
You can't be serious. There are tons of new games all the time
@RichDun33Please name them
@Whatsup_AbroadName me your top 5 new bangers
back in the day you bought one cartridge and everyone in the fam plus all your friends played it. now the ask is "everyone" has to buy their own copy
Game share…
Trading or borrowing. Remember that?
Consoles still have physical discs, for now anyway.
or rent one... I think I ended up spending over $50 at Blockbuster renting the Lion King game to take to my buddies house so we could take turns getting into a rage fit trying to beat levels. good times, honestly.
Back in the day that one cartridge was the game you played for months on end. Now 'everyone' asks for the next thing after 20 hours.
Fitgirl repack.
Im on crimson desert rn. Tough to fork over the $$, but im 80 hours in and still at the main menu
It's more like there are so many games that people can't afford all of them and wont take risk buying shit that doesn't look promising.
Piracy is your friend.
@JM-ym8mmif buying is not ownership...
@andorfedra Yeah, that's what I am saying.
If buying is borrowing, I'll just borrow it via pirating to start with.
And it's a price vs play issue. I ain't gonna spend $70 on a glorified interactive cutscene that I'll barely play once, when I can drop $5 to $20 on some action roguelike I'll dump dozens or even 100s of hours into.
In this era of games with higher costs and lower quality, only the backlog matters. It should keep me occupied for years to come.
look, asmon is dressed like a doctor 😂😂😂
I still play ps1 era games dawg. We had the best games made growing up because it was ya know, whole complete games.
Loaded & Poy Poy! Still play them from time to time. 😄
Edited to add: Jumping Flash! Probably my most memorable game because it's so cool to see and play in first person!
A new PS game in the 90s was $50 bro. I dunno why people complaining about prices. Video games are one of the least inflationary goods/ services in modern life
@Robviously88 to be fair to him, he wasn't paying for the games back then so maybe he just didn't realize how expensive they were. I've never found games more affordable than they are now, imagine making $8 canadian/ hour and new games being $70 in the 2000's. Not to mention only buying during steam sales pretty much, so new prices aren't even a factor for me.
Just started playing Unreal Tournament 2004 and it's incredible. Also Condemned which is some of the scariest stuff ever with its amazing sound design and vibes and actual horror not just baby horror like modern games
@fotgaxton exactly… maybe another aspect that makes people not compute the situation correctly.
It's all fake for greed
Sony was a Ford. They are trying to be a BMW.
am i finally going to have to go…..Outside!
This is why I always buy physical and trade when finishing!
This is why I’m going the retro route. Just bought a PS2 and the first two prince of Persia games.
I'm over here with my Nintendo. 😂
Those are solid choices
Me too. Got a 360 and ps3
Nice I’m actually looking to get a 360 next
Thanks it more important than ever the collect physical media. We should own what we buy
CEO's and there "F@ck you, pay me" attitude (rolls eyes)

@KlouD44There
@KlouD44 correct
Games are expensive and they are all shit for the most part.
Just wait until there a sale. Buy the base game. Stop preordering. There are ways around paying full price. As an adult, you can wait. The gaming world is absolutely saturated with games.
Exactly. It’s not even like you can’t play games now. You can buy older games that are on sale TODAY, then a year or two from now you play the good stuff that’s coming out now, etc. 🙄🤦🏻♂️
Pre-Ordering is really crazy. You are paying for something that's not even made yet. You either have ALOT of money or you'r just... Well, very, very stupid.
I don't see any games to buy. Though I hear Tropic 7 is coming. And the last good RP game was DAO.
6:00 that's why I switched to indie games and valve, AAA games disappointed me for far too long and too many times
All those people telling us switching to digital media only was a bad idea were correct, who knew.
They were warning people not to sell/trade their old stuff for the new thing in the event they want to go back and play the old stuff to.
As someone who has been saying this for 15 years, I am vindicated, but by no means happy to be proven right.
$GME yaaaaallll
Yeah, I remember the days when you could buy one disc for three people and play the game in turns. 😅
And if game would big enough, Each of you could have played the game differently and told stories about it.
Literal everyone with a room IQ and higher said that the real number of people suffering cause of all digital is pretty small compared to those that kept their stiff
If people would just stop buying thise companies games, shit will change. We have the power to stop this crap.
playing crimson desert and space marine for the next 2 years, sounds like fun
Crimson shitsert
11:11 FAX, bro the market is carnivorous... oof
Inflation doesn't matter when it comes to selling video games, the only thing that matters is the disposable purchasing power of the average person. By that metric you actually have to make games cheaper now.
Haven’t bought a new aaa game for a while, loving my backlog and indies on sale.
16:32 i already look back fondly on paying $20 for games and $200 consoles...that was the sweet spot and we blew passed it in the blink of an eye
new games never cost 20 and consoles never cost 200.stop lying liar
@Junkey-o8k4e the n64 was $199 on release. The atari, nes, Sega genesis. Hell even the ps1 was 149 2 yrs after its release, same with the ps2 getting knocked down to $199 2 yrs after its release.
@Venomous-yp8rcfor fuck sakes who gives a fuck about that ancient shits ?????
@Venomous-yp8rc i used to buy ps2s for like 100 bucks and that was like around the ps4 was being introduced and the ps3 was still used, the guy above has no fucking idea what hes talking about, I wonder why fallout new vegas is $10, $20 with all the dlcs right now vs call of duty black ops II being $60
@Venomous-yp8rc $199 during the N64’s release is about $414 today
As PC gamer myself I can only say... The emperor(Gaben) protects.
There’s no devolpers bro there gone
only CEOs designing games
I buy nothing but used games.
Gaming and cost of PC parts is like the Elite in power no longer want people to play games or own tech.
meanwhile bananas and rice sitting on billions in fraud
They want you to rent your stuff through subscriptions including using PC:s.
A 2 parent household making median income is a hair shy of a 6 figure household now, people really dont realize how little a 6 figure household is now
$100k is around $68k after taxes. Gas, food, housing, clothes, bills and a car. Thats all spent for the most part
$150,000 in 1962 is worth $1,623,104.30 today.
@bubdubs5294 can confirm. Between taxes and insurance I bring back 70k.
Yep you have to tell teens they need to get a job that makes 200,000 or more a year when they get older. Prices will just keep going up
I mean, it's not so little that good budgeting can't get you a thousand dollars a year for luxury spending like video games.
Hiking prices on a product that can be reproduced indefinitely while eliminating physical copies is wild work.
Its the worst of both worlds.
It really is ridiculous. I could understand costs when you had to make physical copies, pay for warehouses to store them, pay to ship them, etc. That doesn’t happen now so prices should be down.
@johnmorrison5502yea, manfucacturing, inventory, shipping, shelf space, it all adds up and I can understand that.
Im not exactly clued in to how modern game makers operate but it seems to me that general quality hit a plateau a while ago and the prices have gone through the roof!
I dont play much these days so I just stick to my classics, I cant imagine trying to keep up with all of it
26:05 one of my greatest regrets of my childhood was when I was turning 10 I got so much money from family that I could have bought a gameboy and instead spent it on a single transformer.
1:00 all while the most played games are a decade old and came out on last gen tech. So pay more for shittier games and a console that has mo true next gen performance
Still playing wow on my 2016 pc, cmon let me have it.
Prices are getting crazy, but I think it's actually due to overconsumption.... People are Affirming or Paying in 4 their Starbucks.... Getting luxury cars with 20k negative equity on their trade in, upgrading their phones every year.... Game companies know that even if it's too expensive, enough people will still buy it...
Yeah, to a point. If it has status value then people will shell out. Is there enough status value in a game? I'd say no, generally speaking.
Plus, gamers are different than your average normie Starbucks, keeping-up-with-the-Jones type person, who is usually a woman anyway. Women will go into debt buying a lifestyle.
i still think the product is the issue not the price, you spend 100 for a dinner with someone that last an hour maybe, i just feel this slop that comes out is not worth what they are asking, if it was actually good, many people wont complain.
The reality is that Americans are going to be priced out of a lot of goods long before they're physically not available anymore. There is going to be an intense societal shift of peoples day to days coming up in the next 30 years as the return on energy investment hits negative for a lot of goods. Every single one of you reading this needs to develop trapping small game skills, clean water/filtering acquisition skills, large long term gardening skills, and basic mechanical empathy to at least apply preventative or simple repair maintenance on the devices you use in life; and may I recommend one of those devices being a good bike for basic transportation? If you do not; I can promise you that you will become a statistic of the majority that fails to adapt when the American perception is forced to shift from their obsession of online media to day to day survival. The current American focus on consumerism is best thought of as a long running ponzi scheme. Eventually the reasonable access of these materials to make these goods to fuel the scheme is going to run dry, and if you don't know how to provide for yourself when that happens; then you and your children or family will suffer, and you will only have yourselves to blame. Good luck guys, and prepare.
@sarteron alot ofnuseless ppl.will tha fully die. I cannot wait for that day because it will be a much better day than today. :)
The only reason to buy overpowered overpriced hardware is to compensate for the unoptomized overslopped AAA shitstains.
Meanwhile Doom can still be run on an abacus basically.
I don’t have a play station and no way ima be able to afford one there’s just more important things
So no one going to address why an already shipped product is increasing in pricing twice in a year???
last game i bought was witcher 3 on sale at 5$ in 2017
Now that's bang for your buck. Amazing game.
The last game I bought was the metro 2033 bundle that included metro 2033, metro last light, and metro exodus for $5 on xbox's spring sale lol.
Then you are not a gamer, sorry.
sad
@EldenLord. i only play good games thats why
