One important point for use of multicore cables is instruments/loads to share the same source on field and destination in panel. eg an instrument skid or an instrument JB can use multicore cable to PLC/DCS as all individual signals are clubbed either on skid or in JB. It is not practical in case instruments are isolated or distantly located to be connected to JB or PLC by multicore cables as you can not peel few cores at one location then few at other.
