I'm an old, white country boy and I played this cassette in my truck so often that I literally wore it out and it broke and I had to replace it. This man is so underrated! George Benson is one of the best musicians in the last 40 years. Most if not all of his songs are good. He's not like most musicians who have one or maybe two good songs on a CD
I have seen him perform twice. He is one of the most exciting live acts will ever see
@@anthonytaylor2056 Hi Anthony I bought my first GB album in 1979 and still play it now.. Have seen it him 4 times in concert now and I am grateful he still comes to Glasgow Scotland as many other big artist don't. He and his backing band do a great concert xx

Another thing.. Rod was a cold ass white boy. I watched Heatwave’s unsung.. and they said all thee other members would be out celebrating their success and living the life. All Rod wanted to do was stay in the studio and compose. From that point. I knew he was a problem. They didn’t discuss all the hits he was responsible for until the end.
This has to be the smoothest song ever made. That bass line too is just perfection. So much talent here. Why can’t we get music like this anymore?

For a variety of reasons. One, popular music doesn't incorporate studio musicians much at all. Two, image trumps actual talent because what you can market is valued for the faster $ than art. And three, the world is a much much much more openly cynical and jaded place. Kids would call this corny, like it matters what a 14 year old thinks when it comes to music.

This song is more than 40 years old and it still sounds way better than any of the 'new music' being played on the radio today.
Well that’s not because there isn’t good new music, just that the radio isn’t playing it. If you want some great funky base, I’d recommend “Them Changes” by thundercat. If you want a song that’s magical like this, I’d recommend “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic. Honorable mentions: “Show me the way” and “Sing” by Jon Batiste, “Dang!” By Mac Miller, and “Wesley’s theory (feat George Clinton)” by Kendrick Lamar
