I’m not sure he played enough rock n roll to belong there. He is certainly a bad ass who belongs in the Jazz hall of fame if there is one and he is one hell of a guitar player. His version of “On Broadway” is probably my favorite version of that song.
Went to one of his concerts and met him. He was the most friendly person. Hugged us and talked to us personally. Not only a great musician but dope person in general!

I had the supreme privilege of seeing this master live in concert twice during his prime. A true genre-bender - is this jazz, funk, R&B, or Soul? Answer: Yes, yes, yes, and yes!
A titan. Rest in Power Quincy.
This man is so underrated! George Benson is one of the best musicians in the last 40 years. Most if not all of his songs are good. He's not like most musicians who have one or maybe two good songs on a CD
I have seen him perform twice. He is one of the most exciting live acts will ever see
@@anthonytaylor2056 Hi Anthony I bought my first GB album in 1979 and still play it now.. Have seen it him 4 times in concert now and I am grateful he still comes to Glasgow Scotland as many other big artist don't. He and his backing band do a great concert xx
@@anthonytaylor2056 I saw him in the late 70s at Carnegie Hall in NYC he came out with a white fur coat ,that was my only time.
If you ever see this man perform you are very fortunate he truly is a showman .I have seen him twice and what I love about him he gives 100% to his performance .If you ever get the opportunity to see him perform grab it
George Oshust Song written by Rod Temperton. Same song writer who wrote Thriller and Off The Wall for Michael Jackson.
George Benson really does belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Absolutely beautiful voice, superb performer. Timeless classics ❤❤❤
George Benson needs to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Jumaine Adams yeah he was sooooo handsome! 😍
I’m not sure he played enough rock n roll to belong there. He is certainly a bad ass who belongs in the Jazz hall of fame if there is one and he is one hell of a guitar player. His version of “On Broadway” is probably my favorite version of that song.
@@ericn1450 he belongs in there
That's absolutely crazy that he's not in. I have a feeling you have to kiss alot of A## to get in. George is his own man, he doesn't need to do that.
He's not? That's messed up.
Rest in peace Quincy Jones, Legendary producer
And his comrade of Rod Temperton, Bruce Swedien, Louis Johnson, and to some extent is Michael Jackson.
Went to one of his concerts and met him. He was the most friendly person. Hugged us and talked to us personally. Not only a great musician but dope person in general!
Hes a jehovqhs witness we love people
@@beaniebaby1208 I'm a Jehovah's witness also. I knew he was 😊 And he definitely represented us well ❤️
Someone else’s summation of this song: A perfect compilation of brass, base, vocals and drums. It has such a melody that it can be danced slow or fast. The way all the instruments blend together is amazing. A truly perfect orchestration of music. I never get tired of listening to this song.
Of Course,Produced by the "Platinum Emperor",Quincy Jones!!😀😎
The baseline is also legedery. Shout to the baseline
@@oswaldjames5332 Man, I didn't know until your comment but I was thinking exactely this. That it must be produced/arranged by Quicy Jones. It's too perfectly arranged to be anone else work.
Every time I listen to this song, I transcend to this happy place. It makes you feel warm and joyful. One of my favourites. It’ll forever be a timeless tune.
Cool music indeed and a soul lifter.
Fully agree 👍
RIP QUINCY JONES! ONE OF THE GREATEST PRODUCERS OF ALL TIME!!
One of those songs that just eases away any stress or anxiety I'm feeling.
Always felt the same
@George Benson Newly retired and loving life! Forgot about this song for a minute and it popped back into my brain 😍
GOOD way to look at it. Lets face it, when you're happy you're not feeling 'anxious.' At least that's true, here
@@Jgeneraledger23 Spittin' facts 😍
@Jimmy Barnes Been a fan since the late 70's. I had a sister 14 years older than me and she introduced me to all sorts of good music. We would take long car rides in her Mazda 626 and crank this song. I grew up on Cape Cod and now live in Maine.
My brother first introduced me to the sound of George Benson. I'm always thanking him for that.🎸
you just can't compete with the 80s. it's so pure
Amen!!!
Yeah that's why all top artists doing 80s music now. Not sure if y'all notice that! Been hearing 80s music from young singers in 2020
Arguable

I remember my Mom listening to this growing up...omg the good days! Such a beautiful song! Much respect to Mr Benson..I will always love this song thanks Ma!
I think people were having more fun in the 70's and 80's than today judging by the music.
because..no instagram and camera phones I swear ( I'm 62)
AWOMON!!
It was a simpler time. Less technology, less flexin’ and everything. Communities were closer. My experience anyway.
I agree
Inflation, man. lol
Absolutely love this tune. George Benson, his bandmates including the beautiful ladies are just the best. Such a classic song. He is a true talent in every sense of the word. Love his songs, they never get old. 👍👍👍👍❤️

His smile is contagious, Love this song
I remember watching my older sister waiting for this song to play on the radio sitting next to a tape recorder to record it. When it finally played, she got what she was waiting for and then called her friends to come over to our house with their tape recorders😂 Miss them day's and my big sis. RIP Danielle😢🎉 meet you at the X-roads when it's time.
I did the same.💕
I lived that..... I love that......
Had the pleasure of seeing George in England this summer. My dad introduced me to him probably 20 years ago, sadly my dad is no longer around but I'm 100% certain he would have been blown away by the concert. A true legend
Thank you, George Benson, for the groove!
You heard this song everywhere back then. Fun song. Good jamming music.♨️♨️♨️🎶🎶🎶

George Benson is great.
But also....Thank you Rod Temperton who wrote this song and music performed by George Benson, along with Thriller performed by Michael Jackson, and Boogie Nights among other great tunes!
Credit to the writers, Temperton was also a great musician who deserves recognition!
He has a groove pocket here for sure- his music was like jazz music lessons for me.
GB and Robert Cray- to me they are perpetual groovemasters!

[LYRICS]
Whenever dark has fallen
You know the spirit of the party
Starts to come alive
Until the day is dawning
You can throw out all your blues
And hit the city lights
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night
Gimme the night
You need the evening action
A place to dine, a glass of wine
A little late romance
It's a chain reaction
You'll see the people of the world
Coming out to dance
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night
Gimme the night
So come on out tonight
And we'll lead the others
On a ride through paradise
And if you feel all right
Then we can be lovers
'Cause I see that starlight
Look in your eyes
Don't you know we can fly
Just gimme the night
Gimme the night
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night
Gimme the night
So come on out tonight
And we'll lead the others
On a ride through paradise
And if you feel all right
Then we can be lovers
'Cause I see that starlight
Look in your eyes
Don't you know we can fly
And if we stay together
We'll feel the rhythm of the evening
Taking us up high
Never mind the weather
We'll be dancing in the street
Until the morning light
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night
Gimme the night (x6)
So, gimme the night.
Thank you!
Thanks Christian
