Back in 1982, the guys knew that some 24-25 years later a platform called RUclips would exist and that another 14-15 years later some kind of pandemic would force us into homeworking. So this is why they left this track out of the album.
Levin is one devouted bassist. What a wonderful bassline! Very nice song. Pay attention to the gorgeous progression (interlude) from 1:47 to 2:39! It's a pity that this instrumental piece has been unused/unreleased in the original _Beat_ (1982) album...
With a Title Like Absent Lovers, You Wouldn't Expect it to Sound Like it Does, orrr Maybe Fripp And The Bois Are Pulling Another SeKcs Metaphor or Something
When I was listening to a live in 1981, I noticed the beginning of an Absent Lovers and I thought, "hey, it's the same as three of a perfect pair !" But later it turned back to this studios Absent Lovers.
Yeah, around 1981-1982 before beat was released they'd play it live sometimes as they were still figuring out how they wanted it to sound like. They decided to make the beginning the toapp title track and moved the part we now know as the beginning to the beginning
Check out this track opening the Syracuse NY 1982 show that DMG recently put out (I was there!). Lo-fi but very interesting. Also known as "Turkish Tea" on the "Indisciple Mining Rocks" bootleg.
If Frame By Frame sounds like a JRPG Battle theme then this track sounds like a Boss Battle theme.
Yes, this definitely reminds me of the Sonic 3 final boss ost
oh shit you right .you can say the same thing for tarkus which inspire a lot of Final Fantasy music
A friend told me Great Deceiver sounds like JRPG battle music, puts Fracture down as boss battle music for me
@@daandammers8701 I always think Dancing Mad is Japanese Tarkus, I love both songs and never get tire to listen to them
Uematsu was a big ELP fan, you can really hear that in his battle themes

It's a shame that this track fades out as I'd love to hear the rest of it.
This is bonus track?
This should be the title track!

What show?
It would been the best opener riff of KC LP ever, like The Great Deceiver..but is just a bonus track! 🤔
Excelente éste estilo, me gusta mucho, saludos desde 🇦🇷.
best song on the album even if it's not included on it
Super Powerful Track!
Sounds like me playing Roadrash on my Windows 98.🤣 Seriously, what a great track. Tony and Bill play it out of the park.
insanely brilliant
What a shame that this song is not the opener! This bass riff is pure orgasm!
That’s a disgusting way to describe it…

I don't know why but this reminds me of Joy Division like if King Crimson made a song for Unknown Pleasures

I believe this era of KC was directly inspired by post punk so they were probably listening to JD at the time
Love the name and pfp
I can't believe they didn't put this on the original album!
This reminds me of The League of Gentlemen.

Wow, excellent material! I have the original vinyl bought just after ithe release and find Absent Lovers much more adequate than Requiem

This version and the version of the 40th anniversary DVD are different, anyone knows why?
In what way are thay diffrent?
@@aen1595 The DVD version has a constant guitar riff throughout all the song and this version does not
Is the DVD version normal speed (not slowed down)

What is Killing Time? Are you talking about the title of an Infected Mushroom song? Only thing I can find that makes sense..

Sounds very "League of Gentlemen"-esque to my ears...not quite "Crimson" enough for inclusion, in other words...
