CNHL have been my go-to pack for a few years now, predominantly for EDF and large electric air applications, although now sourcing some smaller cells for boats (spinning a prop through water draws current like nothing else lol). You are probably aware of the battery testing on RCGroups, where CNHL perform well in some years, but not so much in others. And therein lies the rub, right? We cant know where brands are sourcing their cells from and our favourite packs may not be consistent from year to year. At the end of the day, all I expect is a fair price for a fair battery. Testing like this goes a long way to enabling those sorts of decisions.
I did a test between Zee 6200mah 100c vs CNHL 90C 6200MAH. The cnhl was 10mph faster than the Zee lipo. By far the new SMC v3 speed run lipo is the best i have tested.
Ya dude I just bought a cnhl black series 5000mah 65c, o have not ran ot yet. But the reason why I got a cnhl was bcuz there c rates. Bcuz I'm sure that u all know that ALOT of battery manufacturers lie on there c rates. And they r a great value for what ur getting. Thanks again Aron.
A bit weird that the HRB didn't surpass all the other brands, I've used all kind of Lipo packs brands and HRB proved to be top quality & performance, HRB cell tabs are connected in series by spot welding as opposed to all other brands who cook the heck of their cells while joining them by soldering, and it definitely shows in form of *major* inconsistency of internal resistance. Don't ask how I know their insides, (spoilers: I've crashed many, had to open the wrapping) My 6s HRB packs I've had for 4 years still perform incredibly well. Thanks for listening to my TED talk. Happy racing Ryan, All the best!
Hey Eden, so far I'm not super happy with the hrbs. They are the lightest and smallest form factor though, so it does make sense they don't pack the same punch.
I've only been running cnhl for the past 2 years for my testing batteries. SMC still has faster packs but not by much and for double the price. Use the cnhl till you max out then use an smc to get the final top speed pass. Been seeing + 8mph difference between cnhl and other brands like spektrum, zee, traxxas, hrb, hoovo, power hobby etc.
I would love to see you test an smc battery, I would imagine they would be the best batteries you can get a hold of (if they ship to Canada). I would suggest taking a look at the rc groups lipo load testing forum, just this year alone they were able to do scientific load testing to over 55 lipos from different brands. (It’s a EDF paradise!)
@@RCexplained they still have the largest test pool ranging across most of the known lipo brands, I wouldn’t count their testing out because 15/25% of the batteries are HV. And they do not have only Hv batteries for any 1 manufacturer except for “bolt”
@@RCexplained I am in Canada as well. Right now I am sitting with my finger on the order button deciding on a pair of 5000mah 65C black batteries for $155 cdn for the pair and free shipping. The black version is an older design but has good reviews. Just wondering if I should get these or wait until the newer racing line is back in stock. Decisions, decisions.....
What about quality control and safety with these budget brands? Have you found any information about this? Performance info is great, but general reliability and safety is my primary concern.
Ran both of these in 1/8 off - road buggys ; the ZEES ended up puffy or not charging evenly ( pre - puffed ? ) and consequently disposed of correctly ( not kidding , do this guys ) I'm personally leaning towards higher C rather than larger stated MAH as a go - to even if there's a fudge factor in both ...
Nice! I have a couple of the 5500mah 3S 120C bricks from Zeee and I'm happy with them so far. People are saying they are actually around 80-100c but that's plenty more than the 50c 2200mah packs I was running. Good for bashing, but I'd think you would want to match your C rating and Mah so you don't have too much draw or not enough 'gas' in the tank for speed running.
Thanks, Frank and you too have a good Christmas and happy new year . Nothing planned yet. Got a few things to take care of outside of rc. But my projects usually are just to find ways to put more power in to what I have. How about you, new projects?
Good Morning Ryan. I have some new projects in the works. Top secret. I enjoy your videos even though they are totally beyond my scope of understanding.
Measuring the internal resistance of batteries is a sensitive process. Accurate measurements are not possible using the thin balance cable. You must subtract the resistance of the cables between the meter and the battery from the value obtained. Since you do not take this into account, you are constantly showing the internal resistance of the batteries as higher than the actual value.
Ive gotten 130mph plus on 3s parallel with CNHL 70c. In a big 1/7 scale, Arrma. Fantastic lipos for the price. SMC are better, but of course, they cost more too.
@RCexplained high 500s on my fastest parallel passes. Here is a 130mph with a single CNHL 70c 6000mah. I did overcharge it to reach this speed. Show voltage after the pass as well with a voltage meter right off the ESC power post. I very much enjoy your channel and the way you break down and explain things. Great work sir 🫡
Great info. But if we know for sure that the numbers are especially exaggerated when getting 100c and above why not make test on the lower battery pack. Lower being those being marketed as simply 30c back and say 5000mah or 6000mah or whatever. Would the lower C (which generally also means less cost to our wallets) is a better and more realistic purchase? Maybe the lower C packs outperform their ratings. Or that could all be wishful thinking. Anyway you can test some of the spektrum smart batteries? Maybe the g1 packs since they have balance leads. But the g2 packs offer options up into the 120C range and pretty large mah capacity.

C ratings can be quite far from the truth. That's why we do real world tests.

I ran 5 mph faster than Spektrum with the G+ with no other changes.
I have done a datalog with the smc speed run v3 6200 4s pack. The smc 6200 srd will handle 350 amps for a few seconds.
Absolutely!
Great batteries, especially for racing qwads. Im a nitro guy for rc cars, so I haven't tried them for that.
Nice! I ran nitro exclusively nearly 20years ago. I went brushless when I saw 100+mph is extremely difficult with nitro.
@RCexplained all but one of my cars or buggies are nitro. For sure electric is the way for speed runs.

Nothing over 50C exists and your average Lipo is 20C. Top tier are 30C…SMC might have some 40C
@@ericklein5097 🤨 you sure about that?😆

How about having a vehicle equipped with sensors to measure (and record) this data in real time for later analysis?
This is essentially what has been done.
Then explain to those of us who missed this episode as to how it's done...what sensors, what micro, what data log, etc.
You can do all of this using a datalogging ESC
Please test the HRB graphene and the HRB premium 100c

The highest real c rating you can get as we've tested on this channel.
