I really like Insomniac’s Venom (especially since his voice is the motherfuckin Candyman) but I can see why others prefer a more traditional take on the character. I just personally really like when Venon is more animalistic and chaotic, helps set him apart from his human host.
Sure but like, the Venom symbiote and the host aren't supposed to be set apart, they're supposed to work well together, that's how it is with Eddie Brock, they could've done the same with Harry, I personally don't like it when the symbiote is the only bad thing about Venom and the host is just being manipulated, it seems like a lazy way to do Venom as a character
This issue is one of two reasons why I wish they hadn’t done the black suit arc in Spider-Man 2. The other is that I think Superior Spider-Man would be the perfect storyline for the third game and it may be too much to have two games in a row where a big part of the story is Peter being taken over by a villain. The seed was kind of planted in the first game with Octavius revealing that his body is failing him and since they’re obviously building up Norman Osborn, they could easily do Goblin Nation. You can still have Venom as the main villain of this game, but I agree that it should’ve been a pre-established version of him. Reveal that this Peter Parker has already gone through his own version of the black suit arc some years ago and that Norman somehow got ahold of the symbiote after Peter got it off of Eddie. Then, have the symbiote abandon Harry to rebond with Eddie to become Venom again and take revenge on Peter.
I’m sorry but that would not work the symbiont and superior Spider-Man plot lines are good on their own. But mixing two plot lines in the same game that would not work you would have to stretch, the narrative way too much for that it would just simply not work.
Having more minor villains like Scorpion or Rhino as having been pre-established is fine, but we should see the big ones appear for the first time. Venom is too big for us not to see his origin in this universe. That being said, I think it would have been fine if we didn't see it bond to Peter first. Since we already saw it bonded to Harry in the post credits, I was expecting it to just remain bonded to Harry the whole game. Since they were doing their own thing by making Harry Venom instead I figured the bonding with Peter wasn't necessary. I'm fine with how they did it in the game though.

@@dcsmarbodon't think that the issue of SM3 stemmed from there being crammed in too much as there's a whole very well written theme that's been stemmed from throughout the trilogy and that is the 'Truth' - Sam Raimi didn't want to have a whole rivalry of Spidey and Venom like in the comics considering that he didn't follow Venom as much as other comic book characters at the time but he did his best to include the symbiote story arc mixed in with Eddie and Eddie becoming Venom... but anyways, there's a video that if you search up by typing 'Spider-Man 3 is Good' you'll then see a thumbnail of 'The Truth' - there then your perception of SM3 will hopefully changed as it did mine despite always loving the movie i do agree that this type of format of Spider-Man vs Venom has been done to death tho and something like WoS and Never-softs Spider-Man is refreshing and great
Another thing we seen so many times is Peter rejecting the symbiote. Me personally I would made different story of symbiote. Eddie dying in the hands of Carnage. Talking to Peter for 1 last time, his former enemy turned lil bro like. A wish, that the symbiote and Peter gotta look for each other. For Eddie, thus making symbiote's next perfect host being Peter. And Peter having no choice but to co-exist with the symbiote for the better. Carrying Eddie's legacy. So yes still heroic side of Venom symbiote, but a different take on the character at certain point. Sparking dynamic of Venom symbiote and Peter.
There is no way to get around the build up to venom. It’s what gives their rivalry weight and makes it interesting. It’s because we the audience understands the venom character. Just jumping into it the way you want is empty action.
In my opinion Kraven is the main villain of Spider-Man 2 he’s the one that kickstarts everything, Sandman‘s insanity and fear for his life and his families, he kickstarts Spider-Man’s path to the Symbiot pushing him farther and farther down that path. He is also the reason why the Symbiot becomes as malicious as it is because the Symbiot was fine in Harry‘s hands. The second Kraven killed Spider-Man Harry channeled all of his rage into the Symbiot giving it all of the blood lust, causing it to become Venom. Venom is just a antagonist Kraven is the main villain he is the one that pushes everyone to become of the worst version of them self.
4:34 that wouldn’t work you still need to set venom up, venom just appearing would be confusing and with not prior knowledge of who venom is the fans would think it is a lazy way to get venom into the story.
I think the main problem with many symbiote adaptions is that it relies heavily on the idea of it directly changing Peter's personality to *evil* due to the influence of the 90s show. The entire intent of the symbiote in the 80s was similar to that of a scorned ex partner that was formally sympathetic to Peter, only to become hateful for being rejected for simply being alive. It never truly affected his mindset directly other than exhaustion. Keep in mind, I like the idea of direct corruption (90s, SM3, Spectacular, etc.), but it's personally gotten old for me since it's been the same story over and over. Keeping the symbiote relatively neutral in Peter's time with it is a key to deconstructing Peter as a person in my eyes. For this game, I wanted an addiction story that shows the influence of considerable power to test Peter's resolve, ESPECIALLY after losing May. Parts of it were there (like his dialogue showing that it he liked the symbiote for the mere fact that it allowed him to be a "better Spider-Man", but part of that was personally sqaundered when you realize half the blame is on the symbiote's direct influence on him, removing accountability from him as a character. Had it been a simpler story about Peter desperately holding onto powers that made him feel like he could save more people through this power, I think it would have made the story more riveting since the responsibility would be *solely* on him alone. The idea of symbiote infection would also feel more earned since the symbiote would want to spite Peter for rejection, along with wanting to help Harry. The symbiote acting as a literal behavioral influence on Peter has lost its luster for me personally over the years
I disagree with the facts that Peter has no responsibility in the PS5 Spider-Man 2. The symbiote in that game just brings out the hidden side of the host, but it's still their true thoughts. Like the reason Peter became more violent is because he was struggling with blaming himself for the events from the last game, and even though he doesn't kill, deep down he believes killing his enemies would permanently solve the problem, which we know is the case from Martin Li and Miles diving into Peter's soul.

The only time Harry should've been Venom was in Spider-Man 3. It wouldn't have made the movie so bloated as it feels currently and would've made the movie feel even more like a proper conclusion to the trilogy. Plus, we wouldn't even need to flesh out Venom and Peter's rivalry since it's been set up for two whole movies.

1. Actually yes. Id rather just have Venom right from the beginning with an implication of Eddie already having some sort of relationship with Spider-Man established. 2. Depends on how its handled. The Spider-Verse movies have shown that you can twist the source material and do unique things to it while also keeping true to it and those were great. My problem lies in the execution. Both Spider-man, Batman and all their related stories now have so much stories that have to happen before you get to their current state that new adaptations should just start with everything being established so they can then make new stories. Have Venom already on the rampage. Have Green Goblin and Gwen already be dead. Have Harry running around as Green Goblin. Etc etc.
I didn't see it as a problem that Venom was only there for the final act. It was no different than Otto in the first game and that was handled really well too. And Venom got a lot more screentime than Dr. Octopus did. The buildup made the appearance and confrontation more satisfying. I really don't know how you think the PS1 game and Web of Shadows handled Venom better.

He was better in Web of Shadows, but we hardly saw his alter ego Eddie Brock. I know that the plot had Venom completely take over or something, but regardless of who the host is, a good story deals with both halves. Just like a good Spiderman story deals with both Spiderman and Peter Parker. And I don't know what you mean by Insomniac turning Venom into a big Thanos level villain when Web of Shadows did it first. Both games feature him creating an army of symbiotes and taking over New York. So what exactly did PS1 and Web of Shadows do better, other than just seeing Venom from the start of the game?

PS1 started the trend of Venom being a joke character. And Marvel's Spiderman started the trend of Venom having weak hosts and not really caring about Spiderman anymore. Sure, he wants to bond Spidey to a Symbiote, but that's because he's a human who'd make a viable host, not because the Symbiote (or Venom for that matter) actually cares about Spidey beyond him being a threat. Whatever happened to Venom being the ultimate stalker? What happened to Venom's fear factor? Here's the best way for me to put it. Can you imagine Comic Venom doing, talking, or acting like Marvel, PS1, or Web of Shadows Venom? No? Than none of them are true Venoms.

And Insomniac's Venom did care about Peter as more than a threat. He wanted Peter to join them in their mission because both Harry and the symbiote felt rejected by Peter. The motivation was a bit different, but their obsession with Peter remained. It's still one of the better adaptations of Venom we've gotten. Way better at least than any of the movies or video games. Although that's not saying much. But I did like how Insomniac handled it.

What I should of said wasn't "By actually making him Venom," rather it should've been "A better attempt at making Venom." I won't lie, I've been annoyed by people proclaiming Insomniac Venom "The best ever," so that's probably why I wasn't as clear as I should of been. Insomniac's Venom cares about Peter so much as he's a threat. Remember, Harry hates Peter "trying" to kill him, the Symbiote only wants Peter for his power. That's not Venom. That's just... I don't even know what to call it. Venom is hates Peter not for good reasons. That's the point of the character. He is, in essence, an obsessive stalker with a victim complex. These aren't present in Marvel's Venom. No doubt you'll mock me for this one, but Spiderman 3 understood Venom better than Insomniac. He's not a stalker there, but everything else that makes Venom Venom is present.
Why does everyone hate venom from spiderman 3, everyone has to have EVERYTHING perfect like he grateful, it's my favorite movie. The test screening, "Original SP3 Ending" look it up, it was terrifying, spiderman 3's early venom suits were terrifying, something beyond "venom".
The single best video game venom adaptation is neversofts venom, hes just venom, not some monster hellbent on causing chaos and destruction everywhere (but ultimate spiderman the game does that the best)

1) Venom works best when he torments Peter’s personal life 2) They didn’t even factor Venom’s ability to get around the Spidey sense into the gameplay. 3) I don’t think Harry was a good choice for Venom because they couldn’t give him a legit enough reason to hate Spidey like venom does within the confines of this game. If you do Eddie, all you gotta do is tie into MJs job and him competing for the editor job. If they were going to make Harry Venom it should have been set up with Peter and mj wondering how he got so healthy this game and gg be the main villain and end up dying leaving Harry resentful to Spidey for killing his dad in the 3rd game
@@billyboleson2830 If you haven’t watched spectacular Spider-Man they perfected venom on there . Venom in this game never really felt like he would kill Peter which lowers the tension. And from them to go from besties to enemies in like an hour is too jarring to work properly. A good venom story needs time to show the breakdown in Peter and eddy/harrys relationship, to your point about the reasoning being lame. If they would’ve saved venom until the 3rd game they could have used this game to build REAL malice between the 2

The premise is that Eddie was a disturbed individual and blamed Spider-Man for his own faults BUT THE REASONS ARE STILL GOOD. I'm a huge Venom fan myself and honestly I don't quite agree. They already told and showed us that Eddie is in this universe and that eventually he'll become Venom. So with that already established I'm fine with Harry being Venom when it's such a good portrail of the character. The symbiote already hates Peter because of the rejection so that's already done now and then later we'll gain a reason for Eddie hating Peter too. I'd rather just let insomniac do their thing and continue making their story.

Not every version has to be Eddie Brock. Like he has been done so many times, let's have something different for once otherwise it would be stale. Insomniac Venom is fleshed out and it's well done. He appears in the 2nd half of the game. Harrys arc makes a lot of sense. The whole time he wants to “heal” the world with Peter. He gets bitter and jealous when Peter keeps the suit to himself and because of Peter’s discussion with his dad. He feels like he’s fading away and those closest to him don’t really care. This reverses back to his original motivation when he gets the symbiote back and becomes Venom. He’s no longer dying but the symbiote has changed from it’s time with Peter and touching the Knull rock (for lack of a better term). He still wants to heal the world with Peter just in a different more extreme way.

I liked Harry being Venom because it was different, like you said the venom storyline repeated so many times we got tired, but the way he doesn't hold a vendetta against parker but actually loves him fits the ideia of peter being the perfect host and also makes Venom more interesting than just "I want to kill spiderman because he sucks!!!!"
I disagree, the spiderman 2 venom was awesome so was his origin & Also Venom isn’t a character you can give to people right off the bat cause most don’t know him like spidey fans. For the video game & the MCU movies it’s totally necessary to give an origin story.
I can see some of your points but at the same time giving venom absolutely zero build up wouldn’t make any sense. You mentioned how in mcu spiderman films we get to see vulture and mysterio off the bat but at least there is build up because their origin stories are way more simple.

So basically you don’t like Harry as Venom, and you also don’t want the story to be original with the origin of Venom, AND you don’t want to see the story of Venoms origin take place. That’s a crazy take imo. I really like Harry as Venom because it makes Venom even more personal to Peter than I thought Eddie Brock ever was. He’s just a guy who works at Peters job. But Harry is his best friend. And I understand that’s probably why you like him as green goblin but green goblin suits Norman more than Harry for me. I don’t really have an issue with Eddie Brock when he’s done right, but that takes way more time to set up than Harry being Venom does. Because all you need for that is to establish them as friends, which is VERY easy, then give them a reason to be mad at each other which is relatively easy. But you preferring Eddie over Harry being Venom is just your opinion and I don’t really have any issues with that, just stating why I prefer Harry a little more. Spectacular Spider-Man did Eddie right, and the story was enhanced because of it. I don’t DISLIKE Eddie or anything. Where my bigger gripes come in are with the other parts of what you aren’t happy with about most recent Venom adaptations. Good stories absolutely NEED to be fleshed out. Not padded for time mind you, but fleshed out. When part of you’re discontent comes from stories taking time to tell the story I kinda have an issue. Especially if the origin is different and needs to take place and be explained in the story that’s playing out in front of us. From what I can gather, your biggest issue with insomniacs Venom is that Venom the character needed to be in the story more than he was. Which is fine honestly, I kind of agree with that. But to seemingly dislike the adaptation itself cuz that one aspect wasn’t as lengthy as you wanted is a bit much. I believe the root of a lot of peoples dislike for entertainment “not meeting their standards” for most recent media is rooted very deep and has nothing to do with the media itself. My theory is that because we all grew up with certain pieces of entertainment that we fell in love with, whatever it may be, we enjoyed the feeling of experiencing that piece of media and we continue to chase that feeling throughout anything else we consume for entertainment. But nothing will ever live up to it for multiple reasons. First of all, we experience it young. When we’re very impressionable and excitable. We were able to experience something truly great at a very young age, which leaves a mark on us for the rest of our lives. Entertainment is very interesting in that, there are good and bad pieces of media. Just like most other things. But those things can be slowly improved upon objectively over time, like technology for example. Entertainment can’t. It’s not only subjective, but if something is truly entertaining it will remain that way regardless of the medium you experience it through. Like how old songs can still be catchy, but old technology is completely obsolete. But because most things in our life are steadily improving objectively, we kind of subconsciously expect entertainment to do the same. And interweaving this concept with the idea of specific things like a character being done well when we were kids and us wanting that feeling again now but it has to be an “adaptation” of that thing is a very complex web of thought and personal experiences and I am kinda tired of typing now. TL;DR everyone’s standards for entertainment is rising even though true entertainment doesn’t age. Only we do, and that changes a lot more than we think. If anyone read all of that, first of all thanks for taking all that time to read some randos RUclips comment, and second of all I hope it gives you something to think about if nothing else.
I don't agree that Eddie should be Venom all the time: just as Peter isn't always Spiderman because anyone can be bitten by the spider, anyone can get the symbiote and be Venom. To be honest, I think your rejection of other Venom hosts is because you're trying to protect something you remember better than it actually was. I know that the present tends to ruin our good memories with woke propaganda, but Harry as Venom is not bad
this video had a decent point in the beginning but as soon as the two minute mark hits, it contradicts itself. what are you trying to say exactly? when it came to the Venom film you criticized it for not having anything to do with the peter parker/spider-man element of his character. despite this, you still complain that there are too many hurdles for for venom to appear on some cases? like, what? Another thing is that you criticize the origin story of the venom character without fundamentally understanding what fuels venom's entire arc. the symbiote IS venom... but it needs a host to act WITH itself, something to reach both physical and mental symbiosis. this has always been the case for every version of the character both in and out of comics. This arc isn't stale, the issue is that it hasn't been done well in one film and or game... the character needs time to build up and despite Spider-man 2's well done writing with the character with harry osborn it did feel a tad rushed to make up for time. Harry as Venom is not a horrible idea, it just needed more time. you disliking it is a preference issue in my honest opinion, rather I feel like you are neglecting the entire point of the symbiote as a whole. Venom doesn't need eddie brock specifically, but rather share a hatred of someone specifically that both it and it's host have in common with. Insomniac's way of doing this was clever because they wanted to introduce a more horrific element to the idea of the symbiote. it took advantage of harry's fear of his illness, oncoming death, and anger for both craven and his friend peter. venom was not the "main villan" in spider-man 2, he was rather a climatic antagonist for peter and harry's arc. Craven was the main villain and was the main drive for the story's direction even after death. now wanting a venom immediately instead of waiting for his arc is completely fine, but that shouldn't exclude peter/spider-man's presence in his origin. I'd imagine something like tom holland's introduction working with venom but at that point you are skipping the important drives of what makes the character so compelling. Venom is a character that is hell bent on killing or consuming their enemies. its only WAY later in the comic books that the character gains some sense of responsibility and redemption. if you want the character to show that side it should be earned. it will feel confusing for specific demographics who don't read the comics (and trust me they exist) just look at the complaints that the tom holland iteration received as soon as he appeared. While Tom's version of spider-man grew with people, this is simply because his entire arc was built into a pseudo new origin with tony stark...
I completely disagree. Harry as venom was super well made and a great choice. You don't have room to complain about the formula always being on repeat then when insomniac comes in and fixes that complaint you go right back to complaining.
They literally repeated the “symbiotes take over the world” formula that’s been done over and over. The only thing that was different is that Harry was Venom, and that made no sense.
The problem with Harry's Venom is that it fell flat. Other than design and voice (seriously, Tony Todd is great), the entire third arc feels like a soulless version of Web of Shadows. In its inception, Venom (regardless of host) should have a vendetta against Peter. Here, not only is there no vendetta, Venom actively tries to befriend Peter. "But Insomniac's doing their own thing!" That point also kinda falls flat when Bryan Intihar, creative director of Insomniac, said "everything you love about Venom is here" "it will be a faithful adaptation" "Venom isn't about world domination, he's about killing Spider-Man", etc etc. Empty promises, lies and deceptions. They KNOW how the character should be, yet they decided to build up expectations and then shit all over it. And don't even get me started on the tone deaf "adaptation" of the Donny Cates run of Venom.

No it isn't. Insomniac Venom is amazing. Nothing is rushed. Venom appears in the 2nd half of the game, and he has perfect amount of screentime. And he is better then the movie versions.

I really like Insomniac’s Venom (especially since his voice is the motherfuckin Candyman) but I can see why others prefer a more traditional take on the character. I just personally really like when Venon is more animalistic and chaotic, helps set him apart from his human host.

This issue is one of two reasons why I wish they hadn’t done the black suit arc in Spider-Man 2. The other is that I think Superior Spider-Man would be the perfect storyline for the third game and it may be too much to have two games in a row where a big part of the story is Peter being taken over by a villain. The seed was kind of planted in the first game with Octavius revealing that his body is failing him and since they’re obviously building up Norman Osborn, they could easily do Goblin Nation. You can still have Venom as the main villain of this game, but I agree that it should’ve been a pre-established version of him. Reveal that this Peter Parker has already gone through his own version of the black suit arc some years ago and that Norman somehow got ahold of the symbiote after Peter got it off of Eddie. Then, have the symbiote abandon Harry to rebond with Eddie to become Venom again and take revenge on Peter.

Having more minor villains like Scorpion or Rhino as having been pre-established is fine, but we should see the big ones appear for the first time. Venom is too big for us not to see his origin in this universe.
That being said, I think it would have been fine if we didn't see it bond to Peter first. Since we already saw it bonded to Harry in the post credits, I was expecting it to just remain bonded to Harry the whole game. Since they were doing their own thing by making Harry Venom instead I figured the bonding with Peter wasn't necessary. I'm fine with how they did it in the game though.

@@dcsmarbodon't think that the issue of SM3 stemmed from there being crammed in too much as there's a whole very well written theme that's been stemmed from throughout the trilogy and that is the 'Truth' - Sam Raimi didn't want to have a whole rivalry of Spidey and Venom like in the comics considering that he didn't follow Venom as much as other comic book characters at the time but he did his best to include the symbiote story arc mixed in with Eddie and Eddie becoming Venom...

Another thing we seen so many times is Peter rejecting the symbiote. Me personally I would made different story of symbiote. Eddie dying in the hands of Carnage. Talking to Peter for 1 last time, his former enemy turned lil bro like. A wish, that the symbiote and Peter gotta look for each other. For Eddie, thus making symbiote's next perfect host being Peter. And Peter having no choice but to co-exist with the symbiote for the better. Carrying Eddie's legacy. So yes still heroic side of Venom symbiote, but a different take on the character at certain point. Sparking dynamic of Venom symbiote and Peter.

There is no way to get around the build up to venom. It’s what gives their rivalry weight and makes it interesting. It’s because we the audience understands the venom character. Just jumping into it the way you want is empty action.

In my opinion Kraven is the main villain of Spider-Man 2 he’s the one that kickstarts everything, Sandman‘s insanity and fear for his life and his families, he kickstarts Spider-Man’s path to the Symbiot pushing him farther and farther down that path. He is also the reason why the Symbiot becomes as malicious as it is because the Symbiot was fine in Harry‘s hands. The second Kraven killed Spider-Man Harry channeled all of his rage into the Symbiot giving it all of the blood lust, causing it to become Venom. Venom is just a antagonist Kraven is the main villain he is the one that pushes everyone to become of the worst version of them self.

4:34 that wouldn’t work you still need to set venom up, venom just appearing would be confusing and with not prior knowledge of who venom is the fans would think it is a lazy way to get venom into the story.
I think the main problem with many symbiote adaptions is that it relies heavily on the idea of it directly changing Peter's personality to *evil* due to the influence of the 90s show. The entire intent of the symbiote in the 80s was similar to that of a scorned ex partner that was formally sympathetic to Peter, only to become hateful for being rejected for simply being alive. It never truly affected his mindset directly other than exhaustion. Keep in mind, I like the idea of direct corruption (90s, SM3, Spectacular, etc.), but it's personally gotten old for me since it's been the same story over and over. Keeping the symbiote relatively neutral in Peter's time with it is a key to deconstructing Peter as a person in my eyes.
For this game, I wanted an addiction story that shows the influence of considerable power to test Peter's resolve, ESPECIALLY after losing May. Parts of it were there (like his dialogue showing that it he liked the symbiote for the mere fact that it allowed him to be a "better Spider-Man", but part of that was personally sqaundered when you realize half the blame is on the symbiote's direct influence on him, removing accountability from him as a character.
Had it been a simpler story about Peter desperately holding onto powers that made him feel like he could save more people through this power, I think it would have made the story more riveting since the responsibility would be *solely* on him alone. The idea of symbiote infection would also feel more earned since the symbiote would want to spite Peter for rejection, along with wanting to help Harry. The symbiote acting as a literal behavioral influence on Peter has lost its luster for me personally over the years
I disagree with the facts that Peter has no responsibility in the PS5 Spider-Man 2. The symbiote in that game just brings out the hidden side of the host, but it's still their true thoughts. Like the reason Peter became more violent is because he was struggling with blaming himself for the events from the last game, and even though he doesn't kill, deep down he believes killing his enemies would permanently solve the problem, which we know is the case from Martin Li and Miles diving into Peter's soul.

The only time Harry should've been Venom was in Spider-Man 3. It wouldn't have made the movie so bloated as it feels currently and would've made the movie feel even more like a proper conclusion to the trilogy.
Plus, we wouldn't even need to flesh out Venom and Peter's rivalry since it's been set up for two whole movies.

1. Actually yes. Id rather just have Venom right from the beginning with an implication of Eddie already having some sort of relationship with Spider-Man established.
2. Depends on how its handled. The Spider-Verse movies have shown that you can twist the source material and do unique things to it while also keeping true to it and those were great. My problem lies in the execution.

Both Spider-man, Batman and all their related stories now have so much stories that have to happen before you get to their current state that new adaptations should just start with everything being established so they can then make new stories. Have Venom already on the rampage. Have Green Goblin and Gwen already be dead. Have Harry running around as Green Goblin. Etc etc.
I didn't see it as a problem that Venom was only there for the final act. It was no different than Otto in the first game and that was handled really well too. And Venom got a lot more screentime than Dr. Octopus did. The buildup made the appearance and confrontation more satisfying. I really don't know how you think the PS1 game and Web of Shadows handled Venom better.

He was better in Web of Shadows, but we hardly saw his alter ego Eddie Brock. I know that the plot had Venom completely take over or something, but regardless of who the host is, a good story deals with both halves. Just like a good Spiderman story deals with both Spiderman and Peter Parker.
And I don't know what you mean by Insomniac turning Venom into a big Thanos level villain when Web of Shadows did it first. Both games feature him creating an army of symbiotes and taking over New York.

The motivation was a bit different, but their obsession with Peter remained. It's still one of the better adaptations of Venom we've gotten. Way better at least than any of the movies or video games. Although that's not saying much. But I did like how Insomniac handled it.

Insomniac's Venom cares about Peter so much as he's a threat. Remember, Harry hates Peter "trying" to kill him, the Symbiote only wants Peter for his power. That's not Venom. That's just... I don't even know what to call it.
Venom is hates Peter not for good reasons. That's the point of the character. He is, in essence, an obsessive stalker with a victim complex. These aren't present in Marvel's Venom.
No doubt you'll mock me for this one, but Spiderman 3 understood Venom better than Insomniac. He's not a stalker there, but everything else that makes Venom Venom is present.

2) They didn’t even factor Venom’s ability to get around the Spidey sense into the gameplay.
3) I don’t think Harry was a good choice for Venom because they couldn’t give him a legit enough reason to hate Spidey like venom does within the confines of this game. If you do Eddie, all you gotta do is tie into MJs job and him competing for the editor job. I'm a huge Venom fan myself and honestly I don't quite agree. They already told and showed us that Eddie is in this universe and that eventually he'll become Venom. So with that already established I'm fine with Harry being Venom when it's such a good portrail of the character. The symbiote already hates Peter because of the rejection so that's already done now and then later we'll gain a reason for Eddie hating Peter too. I'd rather just let insomniac do their thing and continue making their story.

Not every version has to be Eddie Brock. Like he has been done so many times, let's have something different for once otherwise it would be stale.
Insomniac Venom is fleshed out and it's well done. He appears in the 2nd half of the game.
Harrys arc makes a lot of sense. The whole time he wants to “heal” the world with Peter. He gets bitter and jealous when Peter keeps the suit to himself and because of Peter’s discussion with his dad. He feels like he’s fading away and those closest to him don’t really care. This reverses back to his original motivation when he gets the symbiote back and becomes Venom. He’s no longer dying but the symbiote has changed from it’s time with Peter and touching the Knull rock (for lack of a better term). He still wants to heal the world with Peter just in a different more extreme way.
I like Flash Thompson as Agent Venom. So in that case you are right, though thats the only host i have liked other than Eddie.

Heres a part you forget without some things with the symbiote previously shown it has to latch on peter and it gets rage from peter abandoning it
I liked Harry being Venom because it was different, like you said the venom storyline repeated so many times we got tired, but the way he doesn't hold a vendetta against parker but actually loves him fits the ideia of peter being the perfect host and also makes Venom more interesting than just "I want to kill spiderman because he sucks!!!!"

For the video game & the MCU movies it’s totally necessary to give an origin story.
Venom hardly showed up in Spider man 2000 and WOS.
I can see some of your points but at the same time giving venom absolutely zero build up wouldn’t make any sense. You mentioned how in mcu spiderman films we get to see vulture and mysterio off the bat but at least there is build up because their origin stories are way more simple.

Harry as Venom is an L. They keep doing my boy Eddie dirty in all recent adaptations 😭. Lame in spiderman 3, lame in Venom, and he's not even around for the newest games
So basically you don’t like Harry as Venom, and you also don’t want the story to be original with the origin of Venom, AND you don’t want to see the story of Venoms origin take place.
That’s a crazy take imo. I really like Harry as Venom because it makes Venom even more personal to Peter than I thought Eddie Brock ever was. He’s just a guy who works at Peters job. But Harry is his best friend. And I understand that’s probably why you like him as green goblin but green goblin suits Norman more than Harry for me. I don’t really have an issue with Eddie Brock when he’s done right, but that takes way more time to set up than Harry being Venom does. Because all you need for that is to establish them as friends, which is VERY easy, then give them a reason to be mad at each other which is relatively easy. But you preferring Eddie over Harry being Venom is just your opinion and I don’t really have any issues with that, just stating why I prefer Harry a little more. Spectacular Spider-Man did Eddie right, and the story was enhanced because of it. I don’t DISLIKE Eddie or anything.
Where my bigger gripes come in are with the other parts of what you aren’t happy with about most recent Venom adaptations. Good stories absolutely NEED to be fleshed out. Not padded for time mind you, but fleshed out. When part of you’re discontent comes from stories taking time to tell the story I kinda have an issue. Especially if the origin is different and needs to take place and be explained in the story that’s playing out in front of us. From what I can gather, your biggest issue with insomniacs Venom is that Venom the character needed to be in the story more than he was. Which is fine honestly, I kind of agree with that. But to seemingly dislike the adaptation itself cuz that one aspect wasn’t as lengthy as you wanted is a bit much.
I believe the root of a lot of peoples dislike for entertainment “not meeting their standards” for most recent media is rooted very deep and has nothing to do with the media itself. My theory is that because we all grew up with certain pieces of entertainment that we fell in love with, whatever it may be, we enjoyed the feeling of experiencing that piece of media and we continue to chase that feeling throughout anything else we consume for entertainment. But nothing will ever live up to it for multiple reasons. First of all, we experience it young. When we’re very impressionable and excitable. We were able to experience something truly great at a very young age, which leaves a mark on us for the rest of our lives. Entertainment is very interesting in that, there are good and bad pieces of media. Just like most other things. But those things can be slowly improved upon objectively over time, like technology for example. Entertainment can’t. It’s not only subjective, but if something is truly entertaining it will remain that way regardless of the medium you experience it through. Like how old songs can still be catchy, but old technology is completely obsolete. But because most things in our life are steadily improving objectively, we kind of subconsciously expect entertainment to do the same. And interweaving this concept with the idea of specific things like a character being done well when we were kids and us wanting that feeling again now but it has to be an “adaptation” of that thing is a very complex web of thought and personal experiences and I am kinda tired of typing now.
TL;DR everyone’s standards for entertainment is rising even though true entertainment doesn’t age. Only we do, and that changes a lot more than we think.
If anyone read all of that, first of all thanks for taking all that time to read some randos RUclips comment, and second of all I hope it gives you something to think about if nothing else.
I don't agree that Eddie should be Venom all the time: just as Peter isn't always Spiderman because anyone can be bitten by the spider, anyone can get the symbiote and be Venom.
To be honest, I think your rejection of other Venom hosts is because you're trying to protect something you remember better than it actually was.

this video had a decent point in the beginning but as soon as the two minute mark hits, it contradicts itself. what are you trying to say exactly? when it came to the Venom film you criticized it for not having anything to do with the peter parker/spider-man element of his character. despite this, you still complain that there are too many hurdles for for venom to appear on some cases? like, what? Another thing is that you criticize the origin story of the venom character without fundamentally understanding what fuels venom's entire arc. the symbiote IS venom... but it needs a host to act WITH itself, something to reach both physical and mental symbiosis. this has always been the case for every version of the character both in and out of comics. This arc isn't stale, the issue is that it hasn't been done well in one film and or game... the character needs time to build up and despite Spider-man 2's well done writing with the character with harry osborn it did feel a tad rushed to make up for time. Harry as Venom is not a horrible idea, it just needed more time. you disliking it is a preference issue in my honest opinion, rather I feel like you are neglecting the entire point of the symbiote as a whole. Venom doesn't need eddie brock specifically, but rather share a hatred of someone specifically that both it and it's host have in common with. Insomniac's way of doing this was clever because they wanted to introduce a more horrific element to the idea of the symbiote. it took advantage of harry's fear of his illness, oncoming death, and anger for both craven and his friend peter. venom was not the "main villan" in spider-man 2, he was rather a climatic antagonist for peter and harry's arc. Craven was the main villain and was the main drive for the story's direction even after death.
now wanting a venom immediately instead of waiting for his arc is completely fine, but that shouldn't exclude peter/spider-man's presence in his origin. I'd imagine something like tom holland's introduction working with venom but at that point you are skipping the important drives of what makes the character so compelling. Venom is a character that is hell bent on killing or consuming their enemies. its only WAY later in the comic books that the character gains some sense of responsibility and redemption. if you want the character to show that side it should be earned. it will feel confusing for specific demographics who don't read the comics (and trust me they exist) just look at the complaints that the tom holland iteration received as soon as he appeared. While Tom's version of spider-man grew with people, this is simply because his entire arc was built into a pseudo new origin with tony stark...

I completely disagree. Harry as venom was super well made and a great choice. You don't have room to complain about the formula always being on repeat then when insomniac comes in and fixes that complaint you go right back to complaining.

They literally repeated the “symbiotes take over the world” formula that’s been done over and over. The only thing that was different is that Harry was Venom, and that made no sense.

The problem with Harry's Venom is that it fell flat. Other than design and voice (seriously, Tony Todd is great), the entire third arc feels like a soulless version of Web of Shadows. In its inception, Venom (regardless of host) should have a vendetta against Peter. Here, not only is there no vendetta, Venom actively tries to befriend Peter.
"But Insomniac's doing their own thing!" That point also kinda falls flat when Bryan Intihar, creative director of Insomniac, said "everything you love about Venom is here" "it will be a faithful adaptation" "Venom isn't about world domination, he's about killing Spider-Man", etc etc. Empty promises, lies and deceptions. They KNOW how the character should be, yet they decided to build up expectations and then shit all over it.
And don't even get me started on the tone deaf "adaptation" of the Donny Cates run of Venom.

No it isn't. Insomniac Venom is amazing. Nothing is rushed. Venom appears in the 2nd half of the game, and he has perfect amount of screentime. And he is better then the movie versions.
