I'd like to see the same on non superwash yarn. I love a comparison, and it'd be good to see comparisons between different pans - so the superwash doesn't take up the non superwash's 'quota' of dye as happens in 1 pan.
It water level in the pan is low enough, then the superwash can't really take much dye from the non superwash (assuming that colors all strike before flipping etc). BUT in a technique I may end up adding more to to one side without realizing it.
This turned out fantastic! Seeing this technique with more breaking would be amazing. I always love to compare how changing different variables changes the outcome. I've seen some great videos on chocolate cookies -- best way to get harder/softer/chewier cookies -- changing up types of sugar and fats to see what happens. I enjoy watching you do the same thing with dying yarn! On a slightly different note, I have several FD&C powdered colors (for bath fizzies and soap making) - Now I'm wondering what those would do on yarn. Hmmm....
I would absolutely love to see an entire comparison video. Compare the superwash with the non-superwash wools; using some acid vs no acid until ready to set, etc. I am very curious about this as this is something I would like to include in my own yarns that I sell. Thank you!
It's always so wild to me to see Wilton's violet not break strongly when there's such a contrast in other situations! I would definitely like to see non-superwash yarn and/or less acid to see if you can get a blue-toned yarn with a mottled pink-purple effect!
An indigo color or natural indigo? It would be hard to use natural indigo for this kind of technique because the dye reacts with oxygen so you need to do more vat based techniques with it. I do have a natural tie dye kit somewhere....
Fun video! I'd love to see how this turns out using less acid but still with superwash yarn. It'd be interesting to see how just changing the acid levels and keeping the other factors the same changes things!
I truly wish I that I had the capacity to include swatches in more of my videos. I currently don't have the time in my production schedule to do it, although I try to always include swatches with self striping videos.
Love that spotty look. I'd call it the ideal middle ground between teensy speckles and bigger streaks. I guess the higher acidity lets the yarn grab the pigment before it can spread out very far.
I love scribble dyeing! Do you think you could create dyeing conditions where you could scribble dye with Wilton's Violet and get it to break in a more traditional way on SW yarn?
I just got done watching a older video that was ice dyeing and it reminded me of a question I have. When you say breaking, what do you mean by that term?
This is a great question! Color breaking is when you have a mixture of a color (say a black, green, or purple) and then you see the colors separate into the different pigments in the mixture. With Wiltons' Violet icing color, I often can get it to separate into reds and blues which is a lot of fun. A lot of green and purple acid dyes break because they have a lot of different pigments that strike to yarn at different rates. I hope this helps!

Love this! And yes let’s do it with non Superwash too!
Thanks!
That color makes my K-State heart happy 💜
Awesome!
I would like to see a non- super wash dying. I love the randomness of this color. Blessings.
Thank you so much! It is absolutely on the list to try on non-superwash.
I knew you couldn’t leave it alone.
lol
Yes please, would love to see non superwaah yarn dyed, to see the results. Love these videos!
Will do!! And thank you!
Yay more violet!!!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Yes please! Let’s see a take 2! 😀

Love the color.
Thank you!!
I want to see the difference. I love the color!
I'd love to do this again!

You should try them on yarn! ALthough I didn't like powdered food coloring as much as liquid when I tried it once.

My pleasure!
I would love to see this using less acid on non-superwash yarn.
Awesome, thanks!
Would love to see this technique on non superwash, and roving!
Roving would be fun!
I love this purple! Yes, please, I want to see this done again with more breaking.
Awesome, thank you!
Yes please! I would love to see a comparison between this yarn and the non-super wash yarn. Thank you, Rebecca!! This yarn is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thank you so much!

I was surprised!
Yes, please try again with non super wash, and less acid. I want to see the breaking. Also, kind of looks like a marel look
I want to see more breaking, too!
I would like to see this on nonsuperwash wool. Thanks.
Awesome, thanks!
This is a lovely yarn. I love how it almost looks like one of the sprinkle/dotted yarns. Afraid I can't remember what that is called.
Like speckled? Or something else maybe?
I would love to try that with an indigo dye!

@@ChemKnitsTutorials Dyer's preference! I would use an acid dye - something about the layers reminded me of denim jeans.
@@elizabethscott3218 I always have to double check when someone says indigo! I would do acid dyes, too.
Yes, play around some more on non suprewash! I love how it looks and would like to see more!
Awesome! I have some more non-sw videos in the queue but I need to do more of it in general
Fun video! I'd love to see how this turns out using less acid but still with superwash yarn. It'd be interesting to see how just changing the acid levels and keeping the other factors the same changes things!
I would love to do this, too!
Cool! But I’d love to see a swatch knitted up (or woven or whatever

Yeah, I think that could be what was happening here.
Yarn turned out pretty..Would like to see someone dye patriotic color yarn. In cake form. Want to make a shawl. Any ideas. Hum🤔
In order to keep the red and blue from white I would make some connected mini skeins or a super long skein to do self striping.
It’s a ‘YES’ from me! Although I’m not sure I’ve ever said ‘no’ to your future video suggestions?! 🧐 They’re all so incredible!!
Awe, thank you so much! :D
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Thank you!
Non-superwash would definitely be interesting! I’m also wondering if Dharma’s olive brown would give some interesting variation with this technique.
It might, that color does break for sure
I love scribble dyeing!
Do you think you could create dyeing conditions where you could scribble dye with Wilton's Violet and get it to break in a more traditional way on SW yarn?
Possibly! I think that if i started with lower acid to prevent the blues from striking as fast that would have helped. I'll have to try again.
I would love to see you do this colourway on non superwash yarn. Also, I received my smsms yarn today 🥰
YAY! I hope you will love the SMSMS yarn!
